- Why is it that everyone says just wait for the Manga Boxset?
I think there would be a longer conversation if publishers took time and made different editions when it comes to Manga Series...So I rambled into a camera about it.

Licensing has really hurt my hopes of a specific series being reprinted. The Omnibus Collector said in a TH-cam comment that even though we are getting a collector's edition of Tokyo Babylon, it doesn't confirm a collector's edition reprint of another CLAMP series XXXholic. Even though the same collector edition exists in Japan, because Kodansha doesn't own the license of XXXholic we're most likely not gonna see that reprint. It breaks my heart because the collector's edition of both series looks sooooo good next to one another.
I just wish distributers cared to value quality like the rest of us. I know I'm psychotic when it comes to my manga but it's frustrating when day-one-brand-new volumes of my favorites still have scuffs or scratches on the cover. I'll give them the benefit that maybe something happened during shipping but when it happens more than once, I'm questionable. Especially since Kodansha has reputation of having scuffs on their works. All the more reason why I'd love to spend more money on hardcovers if it means better quality is offered.
Great video to start 2024 with! ☺We buy box sets mainly due to the fact that they are cheaper per volume, but also because we like the size of regular editions, as bigger editions eg. perfect/hardcover/vizbig/omnibus are lil' bit difficult for us to hold and read 🥲But man.... They do look fantastic on the shelves! Fullmetal Alchemist is sooo pretty with the metallic letters on the spine 💛

Slam dunks goated and something tells me Viz has a vault there keeping yu yu hakishos perfect edition in. We need a Viz big slamdunk like Vagabond. Great video.
I feel like if a manga has more than 15 volumes which are popular, make it into a box set automatically and add accessories to do so that they can make it unique to the manga. But I highly doubt they would do that also I’m jealous that Indonesia has a box set for slam dunk😢.
Me and you both are jealous…like I said in the video…I don’t know I just feel like they will do something for Slam Dunk releases in the future
@@DanielPeppers One day we will see it, hopefully it’s soon I don’t understand why they haven’t yet since basketball is one of the most popular sports in America and getting a box set would allow people to collect and read it without having to wait for reprints. Also have you gotten to read innocents wanted to hear your thoughts on it.

I'm holding out on picking up Yona of the Dawn physically because I'm hopeful it'll get a box set when it finishes but its also VIZ and shoujo so I'm kind of doubtful it'll happen as well.
Yeah that would be awesome! It’s a popular series so I definitely think there is hope but definitely not a guarantee
i think with the increase in price on viz boxsets will lead to them selling a lot less than they did before, and that'd lead to less and less series getting box sets
I definitely agree, While it would be great if a lot more series got the Boxset treatment, I’m with you I think companies will start making less and less Boxset
I really would want more premium editios of manga in general. Maybe not even big deluxe editions but in single form also. Kind of like Full metal alchemist fullmetal editions or even the Parasite full color editions. Just smaller hardcover releases with better paper and print quality in a slightly bigger format.
If Land of the Lustrous, yokohama shopping log, or Ranma 1/2 had hardcover collector's editions, they'd be on my shelf before the release date. Oh and Mushishi.
Heehee!!! Yes! ***Trying*** is the keyword. I am also TRYING to be good and only collect series that I'm caught up on.... we'll see how it goes! lol! Boxsets are SO tempting.

Slam dunk is tied with Berserk as my favorite manga of all time! If they had special editions for Slam Dunk I would double dip no hesitation lol!
I like 4packs, but they usually don't do them for later volumes

Silver spoon would be amazing…yeah I’m talking with them, it was a really busy time at work for them around this time of year and we have been talking about expanding the type of content to do with the podcast so it’s definitely returning
