the video i waited for dropped right when my phone stops working, luckily my laptop is working. I enjoyed this anime back in February of 2020, the story's themes didnt stick with me then or i didnt understand how it was being said but it was a really interesting way to have a story in Feudal Japan be about. that Sabi Hakuhei episode still pisses me off to this day highkey, but I liked that Shichika was free to live how he wanted at the end. also Hitei living and being friendly with what was essentially Togame's revenge incarnate is a little weird, take all of Togame's pain, double it and pass it on to Hitei. loved the vid, 2010s anime were pretty varied, still some tropey shows but the ones that are good are really good.

Katanagatari has my favorite battle OST (Bahasa Palus) and catchphrase of all time! It's so peak that by the time the song is finished, I will have been torn into pieces! Cheerio everyone!

Just before the release of these chapters, I was talking wih my partner about how some shonen manga end up teaching harmful ideas to their readers. With the latest chapters of WT, I saw a lot of comments from people saying how it was wake up call, how they felt inspired by it and that they want to try following Hyuse' advice. Readibg those comments made me appreciate WT even more, it's not only an entertainkng series, it also has the potential to shape the minds of new generations for the better. I know many times we crave for dramatic, subversive and dark stories, but having stuff like WT, dispensing simple and effective lessons is also necessary, specially in a magazine targeted to young people. Sorry for the word salad.

Man, I wish more anime looked as good as this. Bland art so common in anime/manga. The story is great too, which is quite a surprise considering the author's... other work.

Katanagari's 12 episodes were all like 50 minutes long, it was fully anime original, and they were released monthly instead of weekly. Nobody else has dared to do something like that again.

Love bullet is incredible, it's smart in its writing and deep in its emotional message. And the art is great. Read it now, it's not long yet. Arc 1 will kill you emotionally, and its a great kickstart.

I'm loving these chapthers and i so glad someone is tlaking about it! Urgency it's probably the biggest diference, wakamura may want to get better, vut he dosent have to, on the other hand, everybody in tamakoma to absolutly HAS to get better couse if not they wont be able to save/meet the pepole they care about. I think they also feel a lot o guilt and responsability, mikumo for replicas sacrafice, chika for her friends kidnapping and brother leaving. Everyone in this squad has lost someone very important to them and thats what gives them a drive that other border agants who dont have that much at stake dont feel. And thats why hyuse insisted the knowing the diference between osamu and him would change nothing, since you could put yourself deadlines but they wont hold as much wait as the ones mikumo and tamakoma 2 have. Also the main sense of urgency for mikumo is that yuma is slowly dying and he wnats to either save him or let him meet replica onces more, and thats a heavu feeling a self imposed deadline cant compere to. I think wakamura leaving katori squad is super interesting abd would love to see him in the next rank wars!

What got me into this manga is because the cupids use guns instead of the typical bow and arrow we all know, the action scenes also got me hooked even more. Hope that this manga will be recognized even more to a wider audience

Hyuse has always been one of my favorites in this manga. Dude says what he wants but what he says make sense. He is reliable in that aspect. Blunt, but truthful.

Honestly I think Hyuse still undersells Osamu a bit. One of Osamu's big strengths is his ability to keep both the present and the big picture in mind and make decisions that shift the big picture in his team's favor.

Excellent analysis, I've thought the same thing too about Wakamura and Osamu given how they're both very similar. Hopefully wakamura will learn from his failures and get his opportunity to produce results as well.

thank you for covering World Trigger, I'm sure you know that not many people talk about this story online or person so the fact someone like you who clearly likes the story a lot and can make thoughtful videos on it is out there is a blessing for us folks starved on any World Trigger discussion 🙏🏾

I started watching this and realized i didn't actually read the chapters covered here. Went to read them and holy crap does it deserve a video on it. From smaller things like giving Kageura and Inukai a little moment to setting up a parallel between two characters I've never considered (Rokuro and Mikumo), Daisuke Ashihara's character writing continues to amaze me frfr. Ashihara is good at giving each character a little something to do so they feel like real people but never would I have imagined Rokuro could get such an interesting arc set up for him, laid out so well and with real life lessons one can take from it. You'd think Katori would be the foil for Mikumo but this is unexpected and honestly a lot more interesting. Really interesting look to see who he could've turned out to be if Yuma didn't stumble into his life or if he didn't have the urgency to go on the away mission: an agent of C-rank ability with no hopes of progressing or progressing on the backs of more talented agents. Stellar stuff man, I love this series

I think those c rank guys who said they were more marketing where too far but a tad right because they consistenly have the worst showings of the a rank squads, Kitora struggling with that giant neighbor in the beginning that tachikawa later one shotted . and I think they had the worst showing in the Jin vs border fight

Finally someone talking about this exchange. And let's be real, being in tamakoma2 is much more pressuring than being in katorie squad. I mean, tamakoma2 member is consist of 2 war expert, 1 death star and 1 mikumo. Meanwhile wakamura only need to outshine katori in one aspect that she's lacking. Katori is offensive type so being good at providing support, causing misdirection, or being a plan maker is a good way to up his value. However by far he only surpass katori in whining and blaming. So when he brought up the question, for me that's good enough to be count as character development as he starting to acknowledge that he's lacking and is actually the real problem

And another great thing about that Jin fight; while he was fighting to win, his objective wasn't simply winning, it was to send a message. At the start of the fight, before he takes it seriously, he is like a predator playing with his food, he sidesteps the attack and, rather than countering, he just turns around, looks at the guy and smirks. Heck, that whole thing at the end, he didn't want to wipe the floor with them, he wanted to see what they could do, to let them see what they can accomplish. And to send the message that "bitch, that may do for a measly black trigger, but it ain't enough to stop me."

I still think its a shame that world trigger went underrated because they did not follow the unofficial “3 episode” rule; where in shonen they would basically show the power up of the main character within that 3 episode and is usually why people flock to shonen animes. Since Osamu does not get that type of instant power up people write him off as a (physically) weak character and write off the whole anime as ‘boring’ and ‘bad’, which is kinda sad because the whole point of his character is figuring out how to manage despite that
