There are plenty of reasons to propose that Mozart did not complete the orchestration of the first movement. See here: www.simonwandrews.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/5-Requiem-aeternam.6.pdf

If she were born in Changchun, Russian influence on her could be considered, but she was born in Dandong, a town on the border with North Korea. In this case, Russian influence was almost impossible. My linguist friend tweeted in such a way. In that case, we can only assume that Japan's modernization was behind her. However, such a genius was never born even in Tokyo, the center of Japanese modernisation, until now. Rather than a cultural phenomenon, Ozawa seems to me to be just a souvenir for foreigners. It is a big mystery why such a genius was born in a marginal earea of Japanese modernization or where no european music traditon was presesent.

Wonderful intrerpretation. None of the forced cacophony that some quite well known quartets seem unable to avoid. One gets a clear understanding of the composer's intentions and where he is going. Ludwig forever!

I had to come back to this version after hearing a horrific rendition of this work from this very month at the Proms. The Confutatis in this recent performance was absolutely appalling (as was every other part of the performance). Had to come back to this version with Morris Robinson who sings everything flawlessly; as to all the soloists, choir and orchestra!! Brava!!

Went back and listened to the performance you referenced and I absolutely agree with you about the bass. Soloman Howard is a far less resonant singer than Morris Robinson and he was was completely out of time with the rest of the orchestra during the Confutatis, which was a real shame. I felt everyone else was fairly competent though.

When I joined a small early music ensemble (to play on plastic recorders and guitar!) back in the early 70's in Mexico, Musica Reservata and Munrow's Early Music Consort were the recordings "de rigeur" that we would study and try to emulate. Ah we were so happy when real early music instruments became available! Good times! ❤

Happy memories of being a keen follower of M.R. in the early 70's. Early music was in its infancy in England with little choice of bands: I always thought of M.R. as akin to the Rolling Stones (dirty street-credible) as opposed to David Munrow/New London consort's Beatle-like (overproduced, slick) qualities.
