Awesome tips that I can use to go back to strength training from scratch. Thanks
So glad :) You will get back!
I tried one of these short-nosed so called "Power" saddles. The problem is exactly as you mention: back of the thigh hits the wings of the saddle. There is really no way around this except to go for a narrower version of the saddle (which may still not be narrow enough for some males who have narrower pelvises). If you slide the saddle back, your weight can be too far in the mid line of the saddle, putting pressure on the soft tissue. The hardest thing to know about choosing a saddle is which shape along the three dimensions (t- shaped or v-shaped, longitudinally curved or longitudinally flat and laterally flat or more log-shaped) is right for you. Flexibility, riding style and to some degree sex, may help determine this.
Totally Agreed. It is a frustrating thing
This video is super helpful and informative! Thank you for sharing this.
So glad, I hope that it helps you choose the correct saddle
I enjoy all of your teachings; thank you. What do you recommend for stiff, sore wrists?
I need to make a wrist video. But I would suggest slowly strengthening them as well as working on the range little by little. Don't press the range so much that it will make things hurt
Wow excellent video
Many many thanks, hope it helped you
Love how simple you keep it! In the past, I have avoided strength training, thinking that I would have to spend hours in the gym. You make it so simple and quick, I have no excuse! Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Please keep making these awesome videos. : )
Yes! you don't need soo much
Excellent video! Keep it up!
Thanks for the support!

Welcome!
I am so happy to have found your channel! You have helped me so much in strength development. Running ultramarathons has given me fantastic cardio and endurance, but I was definitely lacking upper body strength. : ( This became ridiculously apparent to me when I started mountain biking with my husband, who has no trouble muscling his way over, around, or through obstacles on the trail. Me...not so much- LOL! Anyway, thanks for helping with women-specific advice. And thanks for always smiling! : )
Awe so happy you are here!! And Of Course!! My nickname used to be smiles haha
You are always smiling! Thank you for sharing your great attitude and knowledge with us!❤
You know it! Thank you for being part of motiviating me to do more
You're so cute! Thank you for your inspiration!❤
You are so sweet!
Good for you sister, God bless, love your message ❤
Thank You!
A year late to the party, but great explanation, Liz - thank you. I mtn bike 4-5 days a week (the Santa Cruz mountains are my backyard) and just recently have begun to develop patellar tendonitis (at 53yo, I feel mine at the base of the quad/top-ish area of kneecap). I have found that lots of steep/fast/airy downhill (which is all of it around here) and interestingly: pow skiing - both exacerbate it. It's not too bad yet - I feel it later in the day after exercising and then being sedentary and also mornings when walking down stairs or doing the first handful of deep knee bends for the day. I suspect just general weakness and lackof flexibility, but want to nip it in the bud asap. Are there any other exercises you might suggest adding to this video?
Hi Matt, Yes, I'm getting ready to make a video of exercises to add. Be on the lookout for it :)
@@LizRideLife thanks Liz. I went to your website and found that you make a living doing this. When it's ready please post a link - I'm happy to purchase/support!
I’ve been craving this kind of info so much!
SO glad to have made it for you
Liz, I’ve been having so many problems with my neck lately… thank you SO much for these!
You are so welcome! Glad to help
Liz you're awesome! You're truly so caring about making our bodies stronger!
Awe thank you 😊 I do!!
Thank you! Great reminders for mobility and simple things to do and incorporate in a routine 😊
Yes!!! Hope You Added Them
You're doing great keep going you got this!
Keep on Keeping on
Love the bee stinger image, really helped to visualize proper movement.
Great! I love this exercise
OK and safe to do these for people with SI pain or dysfunction? Which can be caused by lower back issues, so these 3 seem they would help all round both lower back and SI
Yes and no. You may need to do some extra easier lower core exercise to stabilize the SI joint
I’m going to give these a try. I also like the shorter video too. Thanks!
Glad you liked it
Perfect timing! Been battling a tight low back for the past three days! Thanks so much!
Thanks Liz 💕that’s going to make a huge difference for me thanks so much😊
Hope this gave you some relief
I hope so, that is why I put these videos up here :)
I like the explanation of upper and lower back function with figure 8s. I don’t think I understood that much, if at all, at the time I was doing them in my workouts. Probably a reason I didn’t love them…
Yes it is so important to use these together but also separate
Great stuff thank you
So Glad you enjoyed it
I am also suffering from a new diagnosis of 3:02 exercise induced asthma. When I really power up hills and exert myself more, I find that when I get home I’m coughing for hours. I’m going to try these tips on my next ride
Wonderful! I'm sure they will help!
Super informative. Thanks!
Hope it helps your saddle issues
Super helpful and practical. Many thanks Liz
You're very welcome!
Love the balance component!
Yeah!!
Super helpful Liz! Ha hard but helpful!
Haha - Glad it was helpful!
That last one is a killer for me, but, very effective.
Yes! It is tough!
Fantastic points you make.I totally agree and preach to my friends about home workouts, I try to keep it simple. I walk and lift in my home. And for me most importantly as you mentioned in one of your other videos "Not to over do it"😊
Yes! Way to make it happen and it is so hard not to overdo it!
You’re a Voice from Heaven 😊. I always push myself to hard and pay the price 😢… Great Advice 👍❤️🩹
Awe - I totally feel ya
I’m a cyclist.and have been for years. My bicycles are very well equipped and maintained. I thought I would try mountain biking, I set up my bike with flats and wore hiking boots. (Bad idea) Now my feet are killing me. I’ve been seeing my physical therapist about this. And I started feeling better. I’ve reinstalled clipless pedals and wearing bicycle shoes. So I went mountain bike riding,No pain while riding. However the pain afterwards has Returned.😢. I’m thinking I’ve got to take more time off from biking 😢 thanks for your support ❤
You might need to support it more off the bike for a short time and also - how many times did you wear the hiking shoes while riding?
Oh shoot I probably went on four pretty hard rides. I have since installed SPD pedals on my bikes and I have a pair of clipin mountain bike shoes that I can wear.. i’ve also been doing physical therapy, acupuncture, foam rolling, stretching, as well as bought a pair of wide box toe shoes, (Keen❤️) to wear around, when I’m off the bike.. I’ve gone on a couple mellow rides, and I’ve found the clip-less shoes to be very comfortable.” no flexing”.❤️🩹🙏, this planter fasciitis is super slow recovery.😢
Lots of good info! Thanks
Glad it was helpful
Brilliant thanks so much. Always great advice from an expert.
So glad it will be helpful for you!
Enjoyed the video Liz and will give it a go after any weight training session I take...🍹
Great!
Thanks for this. Nice cues and explanations to adjust common issues. Mostly I like that it is short so no excuses to do something like this after a ride.
Yes! Make it happen!
Thumbs up. Really enjoyed this follow along workout. Looking forward to another one. Possibly for the bikers core (belly, back, shoulders)?
Wonderful! So more of my workouts that I have? (vs mobility)
@@LizRideLife would be great. Always missed follow along vids on your channel. Thanks
😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you : )
What a fantastic video. Super clear and considered. As a 50yr old male just starting my journey into mtb I've found ulner nerve pain a real issue. Turns out my cockpit needs sorting big time. My levers and shifters need moving, and I also need to ditch my padded gloves. I'm definitely gonna try those exercises for core and shoulder strength too. Hopefully that will all help. Thanks so much for posting. 👌
Glad it was helpful!
Wearing shoes is also important so you don’t break a toe 😂
Nah, barefoot is the way to go, shoes won’t protect you from a dropped weight … unless you workout in steel toed boots 🤷🏻♀️
Cute “extras” in the background on the bench! Those weights look big!
Thanks, Liz! Inspired not just to begin... but to start over! I'm recovering from thoracic surgery (which I know you can somewhat relate to)... so getting used to a (temporarily) different body. Can't wait to start a new journey with strength training... cuz I know I'm gonna come back from this even stronger than before! Thanks for the inspiration, videos, and tips!
Yes I can relate, and so proud of you for looking forward and starting a new journey - high fives for coming back stronger!
Your videos are so helpful!
I'm so glad!
This is great, thanks for sharing your knowledge, as a dad, and my main riding partner is my daughter, we have now come to being stuck with un ridable trails. We’re both working on at least working out, and having that benifit when we get back to the bikes and our cardio will have fallen through the floor again( I broke some ribs a few months back, and we didn’t ride at all in that time). So we’re gonna focus on core and general muscle grouping. My question to you, is do you have any vids on just upper body work? That is her weakest scenario, as the classic woman build, all the leg power, and it just gets less and less the closer you get to her head lol. Thanks in advance, and keep the knowledge coming.
I love how yall ride together and are working out together! Here is a link to a shoulder specific video th-cam.com/video/z_8wNtD4pyU/w-d-xo.html And I have online (app) strength and endurance coaching program for women mtn bikers if she is interested in joining. I have a new off season program that would be right up her alley to work on her body. Here is the link :) theridelife.com/ride-life-membership/
But better at what? Not just- better.
Did you see the description? Better strength in physical sense, mental strength, better a my business, and so much more. I lend it to be moving the bar forward.
"hand numbness" video links please
Hey! I'm revamping the videos right now so I don't have them available. I'll come back here and post up the links to them when they are ready. Sorry :/
Inspiring ✨️
So glad it was!
This is great! So glad I found your channel!!! Thanks so much! : )
Awe thank you!
