That is some big nasty stuff. Good you have a big saw and a sharp chain. I never liked noodling but sometimes that is your only option.

in the last 2 years that stuff like your cutting is 80 percent of my firewood. I use my homelite 925 and that is one heavy saw and I saw someone asked about a ripping chain and no I don't think it does any better. Enjoy Bert

Great bucking and noodling session 👍 In your opinion, is it worth buying a ripping chainsaw chain or just using a regular cross cut chain? I've never used a ripping chain. Good video 😊

Is the 390xp still worth it to buy new if can find one? Is the performance difference enough over the 572xp/372xp to warrant the expense, or go straight to the 395/592xp? Also thinking of the 585 for the big nasty tree service wood.

An Eastonmade extra-tall 4-way wedge or 4-way box wedge would be perfect for that nasty crap. No noodling cleanup. But when is enough enough when it comes to having the perfect splitter setup for every situation?

The other simple modification, is figure out the clearance at TDC and remove base gasket. Should it stay over about 0.020 thousands without the gasket. . I have one clone original edition 372 i did it to, plus a replacement 52mm piston. One serious low end power band. . Basically i was trying to create an obsolete gen 1 372 xpw that had a 51.4mm piston, thats no longer available worldwide. Its pretty close to the same performance.

I hate these things with a passion. They make more noise than jet plane. And all these small engines put out more emissions than a car engine. Yet they don't ban them. Try using a rake. Make America skinny again.

I love my Echo saws. I have owned every major brand in the last 40 years. I liked my Jonsereds but you hardly see them anymore. My favorite was a Shindaiwa which is now the larger Echo's. They run great and are very dependable. Unfortunately, our dealer recently closed. That little saw cuts very well.

Nice tune up on that saw. It cut faster.

Being a Machinist , I'm sure if u did some cylinder work and all tht other mumbo jumbo , you could do some nice porting to sawz

There is a small difference in speed.

I think it helped some. I got a older husky I have been thinking about doing something like that to.

I had to pull the limiter caps off the high and low speed jets to get a good tune after doing similar mods.

Nice video Bert. Little top handle ran pretty good stock for an older but well maintained saw. Snappier doesn’t hurt if the noise doesn’t bother you. I like your bucking table.

I did the same mods to a stihl 291 and the difference was definitely noticeable. Biggest change I noticed was the throttle response. Much snappier response after modification.

I have a CS-400 I purchased in 2007 I did a muffler mod to it now my 42cc saw performs like a 50cc saw. Great video Bert , keep on cutting

I've removed every spark arrestor on all my saws. They run better without them.

Com got years of practice and know how to do work under the hood . Where your in the USA 🇺🇸 sent it IRON HORSE 🐎 got a good name for work under the hood in a chainsaw . In your case just take the muffler right off if your into noise BERT . 😮

Do you adjusft the rakers with the grinder or with a file?

Hi Bert: Do you change the grinding profile for different chains? There are a lot of people that just use one standard profile and they use that on all there chains.
