I see those cistern blocks as a danger, just imagine an inquisitive child who puts their hand in the toilet and then in their mouth, toilet water might not be the cleanest thing in the world but it should be somewhat safe if ingested. And just an FYI if you are cleaning a toilet bleach does hardly anything in a toilet and washes away really quickly, and it certinaly won't remove any limescale. Actual toilet cleaner is a completely different product and actually does something. Also never use toilet cleaner and bleach down a toilet, it will liberate chlorine gas and is potentialy deadly.

really neat job! what's the reason for the close coupled tees ? dose the boilers pump not got enough ummpth or are there going to be more pumps/underfloor added in the future

What a moaner, silicone only diy and rubbish plumbers use but just buy and use a wet vac on the cistern and be mess and moan free!

Nice job. That clay looked rock hard. That tree. Is a buddleia (butterfly bush) bees and butterflies love it. You can cut it back really hard and it'll come back, pretty hardy so I wouldn't write it off. 😊

First time I cut a cast iron soil pipe I used a angle grinder and finished off with a hacksaw blade, this was in my bathroom, days later I had orange spots all over the bathroom where the filings had gone . Second time I hired a roller chain cutter much neater and no rusty stuff either

Nice interesting upload Luke... I've never rerun a drain to a new outlet. This situation was far from ideal, but just shows how with the right attitude, you can overcome any problem. Looking forward to part 2.

Nightmare! Would make sense if building regs took this sort of problem into account. Probably not as pretty, but easily accessible soil pipes etc would make your life a lot easier.

Tip all the crud from the boiler down the sink so it stays in the sink trap. That said the Boiler was pretty poor. I have just had a Worcester 4000 fitted 30 days ago and the hot water failed. My old Worcester 240 lasted the best part of 30 years and was bomb proof.

I hate the blue loo toilet block. I had a lady customer that used so many that it was 4 inches deep in places. when I removed the fill valve it avalanched out through the hole

Toilets should be at the bottom of the garden like ours up north at least 30 yards away from the house its disgusting they have them near the kitchen , a freind of mine has one near his kitchen the stink is unbelievable and its a new house horrendous when hes cooking.

Rubbing Alcohol (70%) is a good way to remove the blue stains from your hands from the toilet tablet. Another good way is distilled vinegar, but you're going to smell like vinegar for a while.

This is exactly why we ALWAYS PAY A PLUMBER. It can take time to find a good one though. We have an excellent one now. He has a young apprentice too. We always treat our trades well and pay the bill promptly. Our old house always needs attention, usually water is at the root of our maintenance issues. We also have an excellent general maintenance and painter guy. He always has a waiting list but he is worth waiting for.

My partner had a downstairs toilet fitted by a so called plumber but he use a massarator why I don't know it was for ever getting blocked .the soil pipe was in the exactly the same place as the one you tapped into .being a brickie and in the trade all my working life I whipped it out and replaced it with 110mm soil pipe like you .job done .

I don't like compacts either. Green clips disintegrate as soon as you touch them, traps hard to get back in sometimes, & like you said, electrodes near impossible to remove. Give me a kebab Worcester any day. Head gasket is easy to change too.

It's a nice job, and once the customer is satisfied, and it works with no leaks, job done! Liked plastic supply to the toilet, works as well as and you don't need to paint it. Copper at the end with isolator and a flexi, sound. Good idea to locate the toilet under the stairs, the wall, and the stack being close by outside. Sounded like a p(l)an!!
