Berean Holiness
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 23 มิ.ย. 2020
Berean Holiness exists to encourage the Church towards biblical holiness-one which flows from Christ Himself and yields the fruits of love, unity, and effective outreach. Like the Bereans, we endeavor to study out modern day teachings of holiness by “examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things [are] so,” (Acts 17:11). Thank you so much for joining us as we dive into the theology and practical application of biblical holiness, as well as the history and doctrinal development of the Holiness movement.
Rodney's Story: Leaving the Mennonites to Grow in Grace
Rodney was born into the Old Order Stauffer Mennonite Church. Stauffer Mennonites view themselves as the one true church, believe you cannot know if you are saved (church membership is your best chance), and enforce a long list of extra-biblical rules, forbidding every thing from zippers to men's beards to electricity. Those who leave this group are handed over to the devil, and that's exactly what happened to Rodney's parents when his family left during his teen years.
Following this experience, Rodney continued to attend other types of Mennonite churches until he and his wife concluded they would need to fully leave in order to be spiritually fed and grow in their faith. He shares how, during this process, he came to understand the gospel of grace and learned to trust in Christ for his salvation-not himself, his church, or his works.

"Being a free resource is SO SO beneficial. I would have never paid for anything while starting out on this journey, timid, scared, and so unsure of everything. Being able to read or watch others stories, the research in legalistic topics, and biblical doctrine was so enlightening. I dug deeper, and I made connections with others who were on the same journey in a time where we felt alone because we had lost our community. A random Facebook post appeared on my feed, and it was from there that I began to follow Berean." - Victoria

Alicia's Story: Finding the Joy of Salvation (No Tongues Required)
มุมมอง 1.2K14 วันที่ผ่านมา
From a child, Alicia loved her Oneness Pentecostal church and school, and even more so, she loved Jesus. Inside, however, she was trapped in spiritual terror. Alicia had a secret that not many people knew-she couldn't speak in tongues. And in Oneness Pentecostalism? That meant she wasn't saved. After desperately seeking tongues for many years, Alicia felt that God must have rejected her. She co...

I appreciate you sharing! From where I was from that would’ve been considered a Beachy church so I grew up Beachy Mennonite very strict and I did have that fear mentality and that works mentality and it was hard to get out of that. We’re no longer in the Mennonite church. But I found that living in a community where you came from you do pick up the stigma of it. My girls always get on my case because like when somebody’s coming over, I’m sure to clean everything and make everything perfect because where I was from they judge you if your house is not clean or if your work is not done, and my late husband was the same way, I think he found rest it hard to balance work and rest. He was a workaholic. But the main parts are probably like you said what you believe. It’s what you believe in your heart who God is and how and how we should live as God’s children.
Ever heard of German Baptists?
@@gowithjordan_ Yes, some who were leaving this group have reached out.
@BereanHoliness that will be interesting if you speak to them! I grew up German Baptist haha
@@gowithjordan_ Fascinating! That must’ve been quite an experience.
@BereanHoliness oh yes. Very similar to the more liberal Mennonites
What about the history of the pagan trinity ??? How it was implemented and misinterpreted in the Bible ?? Trinity is false and don’t exists . The apostles and Jesus weren’t trinitarians , pagans, catholic.
She is exaggerating many trinitarian groups who falsely offer escape deceive and can be cultish . Many are reverting back or finding other independent oneness churches . Many Berreans attitudes and rules can be cultic once u visit and get to know them by thier fruits. 🍎
Why are berean trinitarians bashing and labeling all apostolics? Besides some negativity in all churches doesn’t mean it’s ok to judge back .
I was in this group as well years ago. It was a really dark time in my life as far as religion. I had to walk away for my sanity. I am very interested in cults after this experience.
I thought they were amish
What do you think the odds are that this pastor has a secret life?
I have my concerns about the Church of God Restoration. I don't know a lot about them. Most of my education about them was through an Amish that I know from the past that joined them. I do support the prospective on modesty. This world has totally lost its mind with this subject. 1 Timothy 2:9 in like manner also, that the women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with propriety and moderation, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing, Any thoughts on the Homestead Heritage churches? I think the first one started in Waco TX.
28:00 One of the girls from the podcast can be seen in the bottom left area of that video right then.
Very PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE! Giving very much Karen vibes!!! Why are you messing with them, and they have done nothing to you? You are using them for content by trying to show them in a very negative light, but have never met them, and talking about miscommunication when you do not even know these people personally! Definitely not a true follower of God to say something so negative about other believers without understanding!
Very nasty to spread hate for peopleyou don't know!!!
Happy to see someone making a video on this! Ive made content on them and looking to make more. Did they ever reach out to you to answer your questions?

One of the worst CULTS in the world! They change like a chameleon on a daily basis!

Hating
Taking a woman of Gods' quote; out of context is a dangerous and it is liable upon you and your home.
Legalistic. No assurance of salvation. I left in 2000.
Secular counseling does NOT understand spiritual concepts. I have contacted several counseling groups and have been told they are accepting new patients, and that I can be seen and then a day or two later they call back with apologies that they do not have openings.
EVERYTHING was a primary issue. Every thought, action, decision, breath could impact your salvation eternally.
So happy you found truth. With all you’ve been through, I pray you continue to rest in the promises of God.
I grew up in the Old Order Stauffer Mennonite Church and they greeted each other with the holy kiss as well.
What happened in 2008 with the UPCI?
This was such a fascinating story. I'm glad you managed to leave this group and their strange beliefs/practices! Wow.
Jesus only oneness people are nothing but a occult heriticics self righteous hypocrites liars and decievers
Coming from the Mennonites I can relate to some of this. I feel like you did a great job at summarizing leaving hyper fundamentalism.
I grew up in the Apostolic Assembly of the Faith of Jesus Christ. A Hispanic church who is like the UPCI, our differences were that we wore a Veil in church. I understand all this. I did receive the Holy Spirit. But, the spiritual fear for me was being Holy. Was I dressing right, did I carry myself as a Christian, and do I belong. I still struggle so much. Thank you for doing this.
RELIGION killed Jesus
The only your sins are forgiven is obeying Acts 2:38 Its the only salvation formular and without ..we going to hell Its the evil teaching of UPCI They are the gate keepers of heaven They don't meant it like that But it's what this doctrine is causing
See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ. Colossians 2 v 8
عضة مفيدة انا من الجزائر 🎉🎉🎉
Wowwwww......just whoaaaaa! Thanks for this info.
These videos are so heartbreaking and yet reassuring that we are not alone in this journey of healing while unlearning and relearning. The amount of pain that this theology and community has caused to people who truly loved and trusted their words is astounding. The process is so hard and yet so freeing, once able to reject and correct the ideologies that have been pounded into our heads. I’ve had to break down what people have told me and said about me with the facts of the word of God to fight the feeling of condemnation and insecurity. The abuse is discreet, overlaid with passion and sincerity which causes so much more pain to the receiver. God bless you and your ministry, I pray to be as bold as you all are one day to share my story of awareness and hope.
Living in bondage is awful: For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.(2 Timothy 1 v 7)
It’s so sad what hyper-fundamentalism does to the mind. It mentally chews you up and spits you out, it’s not the freedom found in Christ 💔
What verses do they distort to justify this? I’m only close to halfway through the video so maybe this will be answered but this is what I’m wondering. I spent a little less than two years in a word of faith church with a similar issue. We were never told we didn’t have the spirit or weren’t saved if we didn’t speak in tongues. But that we all have the ability to do so. I prayed and prayed for this gift and it never came. So I asked someone and was told just move your mouth and make noise and whatever you hear in your head speak it. They said that is God telling you your prayer language. But that seemed very wrong to me. So one day I went to the alter for prayer. I told all this to the pastor and just wanted him to pray for me. But instead he begins to try to instruct me to do exactly what the other person had said. I tried to do it. I felt sick with myself. I knew this wasn’t real but I felt so pressured in that moment. Soon after that I was babtized by the same preacher. I had been baptized years prior but this was a re dedication, which I now know I didn’t need to do. And when I came out of the water he spent a few minutes it seemed trying to get me to speak in tongues and again I tried. I am so happy the music was loud. They made such a show of it. Because not many people heard me and those that did barely did. It was around that time God began to show me the truth and got me out of that movement. I still don’t speak tongues. Maybe someday I will but for now that gift is not for me. I am confident the Holy Spirit is in me and leads me in prayer even without that gift.
This testimony is so beautiful. It brings tears to my eyes. I too am coming out of the UPCI.
I just love Alicia and the friendship we have been developing inline. I'm so thankful that she found God's grace and that she shared her story here! It will bless and help so many! ❤
Oof, I had to come back one more time. Your point about criticizing the Catholic Church with "where’s that in the Bible..." but not applying the same scrutiny to my own Pentecostal beliefs really struck a chord with me! It’s so true-Pentecostals rarely examine their own practices with the same critical lens they use on others. Yet, let’s be real, their practices can be pretty unusual. They still see themselves as somehow more dignified though just because they’re not swinging around an incense thurible-the irony is hard to miss.
This is such an important perspective, and it’s one that Pentecostals almost always dodge addressing. I completely resonate with your experience-I wrestled with these exact thoughts throughout my childhood. You either try to convince yourself that you’re truly speaking in tongues (despite even doubting yourself), or you figure out how to fake it just to fit in. But that kind of existence is so draining and disheartening, constantly feeling like your salvation hinges on whether or not you speak in tongues and over and over. It’s why these groups are so incredibly harmful-they twist and distort the beauty of the true gospel. Thank you for having the courage to share this!
I went through the same thing-ironically receiving Christian character awards while secretly wondering if I was even saved because I constantly questioned whether I had ever truly spoken in tongues. It’s such a confusing and isolating experience. Thank you for opening up and sharing your story Alicia-it means so much.
This is a very sad story. Children need to be assured of Gods love for them. Seeking tongues is not the objective, but seeking Jesus is. I do believe that tongues is valid though. The night the Lord filled me with His Spirit I felt enveloped by complete love and peace and realized I wasn’t speaking in English anymore but in tongues. It felt like a floodlight was turned on inside my soul and my broken, destroyed life was dramatically changed! I do agree that the focus on tongues is not “the way” but faith in Jesus and the way of the cross is. I
I want to add that even though in the UPC I was taught well, encouraged to study my Bible and had wonderful friends, I was also in great fear. Never feeling like I was enough, doing enough. Was I prayed through enough, repented enough. I never felt secure in my salvation. Now I’m going to a church where the gospel is preached and there is nothing I can do to be good enough. Jesus Christ alone has made me right with God and I’m now realizing I’m a daughter of God and am secure in His love.
These people are telling my story exactly!! I am coming out of it, but the indoctrination is so intricately woven into my thought patterns that it is a real struggle.
At what point does God approve of the sock length??😂😂😂...that's hilarious.
Thanks for sharing Daniel. I can relate to all you are saying. 🙏🏿🙏🏿
Just wondering why and maybe you can explain? I listen to how you cover baptism here and there and make comments that it's a community thing and such and every one of you come from a, let's just say, Acts 2:38 background of quite a few years know the arguments here and none of you try to clear them up. Such as Acts 10:47-48 "Can any man forbid (hinder) water that these should not be baptized..." a community thing you say? " And he commanded them to be Baptized"... Community? 1Peter 3:20-21 ..."eight souls were saved by water. The like (Antitype, namely baptism, which does fulfill) figure whereunto baptism doth also now save us"... Again, Community you say? Romans 6:3-5 "Know ye not (Paul talking to the Saints of Rome) that so many of us were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death. THEREFORE we are buried with him BY BAPTISM into death: that like as Christ... we have been planted (united) together in the likeness of his death we shall ALL be also in the likeness of his resurrection" .... Remember now he wrote all this before he wrote, Chapter 10 saying, "...just believe..." Please explain to me how this Baptism is just a community thing, an expression of your faith to others? I disagree with many of the church doctrines these organizations teach that are certainly not found in scripture, only if you Proof Text your doctrine with a few examples to make your point they can make the unlearned believe. I am open to hear your Biblical proof, not reasoning, that your view is a valid one.
Thank you for sharing
Sin is a man made concept for the purpose of Religion. A good concept to help people to be better human beings but in reality the universe know of no such concept. “Morality is of the highest importance -- but for us, not for God.” ― Albert Einstein
Well, Rebekah got alot of jewelry including a nose ring when Abraham's servant asked her if she would marry Isaac and she said yes. Looks like jewelry is great if you can afford it. The point is to live within your means. And spend your time and money wisely to seek first God's Kingdom.
