The ballet has lost a great deal of it's character and charm without the traditional costumes in my opinion. 😢

Funny to think, with a technique like that, she’d not pass an audition for any reputable ballet company these days. Though I hardly dare say it, even with her technique in her hay-day, she’d not even be welcome in the core of a 2024 company. Technique is evolving at a truly astonishing pace! If you want to see what I mean, check out the young kids in their ballet classes at Master Ballet Academy. True, in her day, she was a sparkling gem, and no mistake. She was extra special, and will forever be - in some people’s hearts.

Note the tutu! No flat dinner plate here. There are layers!

Quelle classe Yvette Chauviré. C’était une merveilleuse danseuse et elle transmettait parfaitement sa technique. Marie-Claude Pietragalla semblait avoir du mal avec le tempo.

MB @ 1:00 and 2:08 changes the choreo slightly, the 75 version being more difficult. Both are just beautiful! I love his elegant, regal carriage of the 78 version.

Лепешинская была бесподобна. А Китри здесь одна - Плисецкая. Остальные изображают, чуть лучше, чуть хуже - на любителя. Техника, конечно, со временем ушла вперёд, но характер...но образ... но темперамент... Это на века.
