Thanks. I agree with the comments saying this is an uneven performance. In the pdd he is in better shape than I expected him to be, given his age, but sloppy in the solo. He can't express anything with the solo. I prefer listen to the concert master playing Tchaikovsky's wonderful entr'acte than watching dancers struggling with Nureyev's pointless choreography, even dancers in better shape than he. Best of all is the act he puts on after dancing ::grin::
Fracci is very sweet, though I prefer her in Romantic ballets.

"Pointless choreography"... truth! It's like a museum of pointless steps thrown together.

The camera work doesn't help either.

Thank you. I am not a fan of his variation, the steps don't match the music. I can't see the moments of brilliance in his dancing here but I can see the sloppiness. He has gret stage presence during the bows though, but do ballet lovers attend ballet to see bows?

Ugh, Rudi's sloppy dancing. It looks like early 80s. Fracci is, as usual, lovely.

As far as we know, you judge only Nureyev by such the highest score - no one else. Darling, this was filmed live during a two and a half hour show. And this was the second act. And this is not the same as dancing a one minute variation.

Exactly right. Rudi's dancing has moments of briliance and moments of sloppiness. By today's standards, he wouldn't cut it, but he was an innovator and the West is indebited to him.

@@navarrebrixen2213 It's a pleasure to watch, despite Rudi's sloppy moments. He does have moments of brilliance. The beautiful Fracci here is about 42; Rudi is 40 and his dancing by then had been compromised for several years. Thank you for posting.

@@Marta44339 Not only that. That solo, to a violin music that was originally composed for no dancing purposes, is a textbook perfect example of Rudi's obsession to completely fill music with male petit allegro choreo. After all he had been mesmerized by that style of dancing Erik knew so well, and made a point on trying to learn it and use it as much as possible. That solo is unnecessarily filled to capacity. And Rudi was a legend by then. He really didn't need to be a dancing robot-( to which we have thousands all over the world today). He was a danseur noble, a ballet marvel. He was sublime. Today's standards...? Ha...who cares! Give me Rudi, and keep the standards I say..!

I never knew Fracci danced Aurora. She’s lovely, but it really doesn’t suit her. Nureyev past his prime here, painfully sloppy. Bad camera work too.
