Poorly filmed as it is, it has captured the essence of movement and the magic better than many a modern filming, with their incessant cutting and zooming in. Sweat in closeup is a kill-magic. I dread the moment the technology will be able to record the smell too and we get the complete package . ..
Fonteyn is so very expressive in this, and looks so youthful and feminine. She's exactly the opposite of doing just the steps, she complements the given steps with a hundred small gestures.

All these people are too literally minded, Navarre. Bah! No spirit at all. Looks like it's up to me to save our collective honor ::grin::
    Here for you:
Paul Hindemith, aka Mario Filippeschi for the masses
    Raoul de Nangis

@@navarrebrixen2213 Ahahaha Marguerite de Navarre. But your Louise de la Valliere from the last challenge was even better. Goes well with Raoul too, twice, in literature and on stage ::grin::

@@navarrebrixen2213 Unfortunately I don't. The markie polo YT channel has a much longer excerpt, which says it was filmed at the Metropolitan Opera house "many years ago." That excerpt includes more of the 2nd act, including what I think is the additional Ashton PDD to music discarded from the original SB score (tho which was used by Balanchine for his Nutcracker production), and the 3rd act PDD. Based on Nureyev's hair style, maybe late 1960s? here's the clip: th-cam.com/video/OEQXfxaK6UI/w-d-xo.html

@@navarrebrixen2213 probably 1968 - it was the Royal Ballet Ashton version with medieval-style costumes - Nureyev was in black - .A wonderful production-- I saw it.
