  • A reminder ballets change. Most of the time they change without the original choreographer's blessing, but sometimes it is the choreographer himself who creates a new version, for various reasons. I'd say the changes here are in the same category with introducing the fishdives in the SB pdd 😁️
Many thanks to cyrcatfran's defunct channel, which was the source of the first excerpt.

From the very beginning, as Allegra glances down sensing Ludow approaching behind her, they made this their piece. Her almost desperate reach from développé a la seconde pivoting to his support into penché arabesque is breathtakingly heartbreaking. And beautiful.

Thank you for this fascinating comparison. Kent is such a beautiful and unique dancer.

Thank you for this comparison, very interesting. And I also have to concur that Allegra has made this piece entirely her own!

Kent is romance personified. I love those swoon drops into Ludlow's arms. She just gives herself up to him and it is very dramatic. The dancers today don't know how to milk that moment. Most of the male dancers catch the females to early.

    I love both.
Allegra's swoons... the woman had nerves of steel ::smile:: I am glad she wears a small tutu, the split penchee looks vulgar with a big tutu falling back on the ballerina's body. The French costumes are very beautiful. Am I the only one who gets a Terpsichore vibe from the French version? @0:50 @1:21 And a Diamonds vibe, not in the choreo but in the execution, she is regal and a little remote.

Who were the dancers in the first clip, please? Reading the description, I was waiting for this to be Divertimento No. 5 (IIRC, this is the one he rechoreographed from the ground up?). Very interesting to see how he choreographed two different sequences to the same music and really had both work. Not sure if I prefer the second because it fits slightly better musically, because it's Connie and Allegra, or because it's just the way I've always seen it. Thx for posting!

Thank you. They're both wonderful. Make it three with Bizet's music.
