Ratmansky followed the notation to the letter whenever practical and/or possible, Vikharev's reconstrucion is more of an "editorial adaptation" that gives precedence to the Soviet-era revisions. Perhaps one day we shall have the Ratmansky restoration of Petipa's choreographic text with the 1890 production. Same goes for Ratmanskys Bayadere.
The economy version ::grin:: They should do something about the wraps, two fairies got their feet tangled in them. There's more pantomime than in the other reconstruction, but it's good, intelligible panto. @2:25 I don't like the pages' "hunchback" walk. If it signifies something, I didn't get it. The wigs are awful, the fabric of the tutus a bit too heavy, and a little more color contrast between the fairies wouldn't hurt in my opinion. Poor queen, to be saddled with that costume.
The tutus have the right form for a reconstruction but don't look good together. Hate the wigs. Hate all wigs . Nevertheless it is very interesting to see all of these. thank you.
The basic form is good enough but they aren't bell-shaped, they look like modern cocktail dresses, ha ha. Manuel Legris was one of few who looked good with a wig, but the French have better wigs.
