The drink turned him into a crass idiot. He would have made a great pundit today. He was right about him Reardon and Spencer who were every bit as good as the new breed at their peaks.

Every match of Reardon he commentates on John Spencer mention Reardon has been fortunate. I've come to realise that Spencer was very bitter and jealous of Reardon.

Great video, I wish Snooker was like this now, fun, laughter and having a pint when playing on tv! Now it's far to much rule based! You can't drink (that's when some players became super heroes!) You can't smoke (that's when players who do smoke could relax and play well), The audience can no longer interact like they could in this video..... the whole game isn't snooker anymore!

Terry Griffiths was one of the best knowledgeable players that ever lived, yet the MOST SLOWEST AND BORING THAT EVER LIVED!! Yet, I'd rather go back to those days than watching the crap snooker on tv these days in 2024!

One of the actual BEST snooker players ever! The modern game (2024) is NOTHING to what this guy showed! The same goes for Alex Higgins and Jimmy white to be honest! These guys showed pure class! It wasn't just about 'playing safe' and trying to win..... it was about entertaining the crowd! People will remember those who entertained and won little, than those who were boring and won loads! RIP Reardon x

Great talent, lovely man. But also, watch this from 10 mins to 20mins and see alex at his best. Utterly amazing in that super fast 112 break and terry congratulates him. Lovely.

Regarding the adverts, from what I remember (from the 1970's onwards) it was unusual to see one from the north rather than Cardiff, Swansea, Newport, Bristol, Bath, Swindon etc.

Myself and my parents are in the opening part of the video, when Terry came back to his in-laws' house with the trophy. Before turning pro, he was our insurance man. An absolutely lovely man, as down to Earth as they come...all the good things you've heard about him are all true, 100%. I remember the day clearly, even though it was over 45 years ago! A great day!

The game is so boring now. The commentators don't shut up spewing crap assuming the audience have never held a cue. The players are monochrome and apart from OSullivan and Williams all have the same robotic cue action. I watch old snooker on you tube and have stopped watching current stuff on tv.
