Yup, she’s a belter! 🤙⛵️

Cool, I’m a 5083 5356 guy for most things, although I don’t tend to need to bend much these days so that’s probably why. These days we just carry an inverter tig as it’s so portable. They are fab! It does feel a little more faffy in comparison to mig sometimes but it’s small and good for swapping out to do the odd set of chainplates and arches etc. I’ve been thinking of a spool gun recently too for an upcoming project, either that if the miller mpi for its portability. But… it’s expensive and more kit to store when we don’t have a workshop anymore!

I believe the Dreadnaught yard is still going, they were 70’s established I think, based on a Tahiti ketch from memory. Well solid boats!

My boat is SOMETIMES going 7kts, but need the perfect conditions ;)

The belts don’t spin… Ok, so it sounds like you have taken the impeller hosing off and it’s drive mechanism? It most likely that the drive gear wasn’t aligned when you re fitted it. Do you have any pictures? If so send them to info@sail-hub.com and I will try yo help. Cheers, Chris

That’s something you can work out east enough. Take the batter size in watts and then figure out how many watts your solar system provides at the battery. Any other way would give a completely unusable answer!

Temo states on its website that charging with 12v will take 12½ hours.

Yeah, for sure but that’s from a 12v battery that’s charged up. If you want to charge it directly from a panel you need to know the wattage the panel produces after it’s been through it’s charge controller etc. If you did want to do it via a panel alone the fastest the Temo charger would allow would be the 12 1/2 hrs and obviously we need to think about daylight hours etc. donuts a slow process but certainly possible. There are other chargers out there you could use which could do it quicker but warranty would be an issue.

Carbon is a fantastic material but it’s a bit brittle, even in as high modulus. Modern resins are certainly advancing here but for now aluminium is still better for high impact etc. if your racing though… carbons stiff hull, direct power transfer and light weight make it a no brainer!

@@SailHub Olympia Washington to Hawaii, then Hawaii to French Polynesia. Then make my way towards Australia. Plan on doing that for 4 years. No plans after that but I will probably try to do a circumnavigation very slowly.

In reality I’m probably one of the most minimalist sailors, hardly use any tech at sea. A good anchor is paramount, good sails and sail trim and that’s all I really want to be honest.
