Wereas German is not Bjørn Mathias' first language, he has done some specific training to get the right pronunciation, but not quite there yet, as you correctly observed. Regarding singing technicque, you are also absolutely corrrect, and he practices this every day with his vocal teachers, former professional opera singers themselves, and now, some 15 months later, progress has been considerable. So far he is only 16, and just started at the local highschool with music specialization here in Sandnes, Norway. This will take 3 years, during which he will continue to develop and improve, and only then will he be ready for further studies at a music conservatory. This is indeed the plan, and at that time, hopefully he will make it to the entrance acceptance at the concervatory of his choice, wherever in the world that might be. 🤎

With the backdrop of this song being performed by so many across the world in memory of all the lost soles at the terrible Hillsborough disaster back in 1989, it becomes particularly moving to both sing and listen to it. Yes, for sure, through dedicated training Mathias is developing his voice and singing skills every day, and still has a long way to go before he reaches the ultimate classical level. But we hope he will get there one day. 🤎

Yes, this song is actually from a former Broadway musical, but was performed and brought back to life for 12000 Liverpool fans the day after the terrible tragedy during the FA cup semifinal at Hillsborough stadium in Sheffield back in 1989, where 97 fans lost their lives following the chaos when far too many people were allowed into the spectator stands. In memory of this and their lost friends and families, this hymn is sung at every game Liverpool has played ever since.

Thank you Sir for your interest and thank you for asking. This time this was a bit difficult to do so, as the music was by playback only, which we recorded in a studio some months earlier. Only Bjørn Mathias was there this time, but the violin tunes were played previously by Augustinas. They will however continue their music cooperation also after the summer holidays, so I am sure that we can accommodate this request at some other time. I'll make sure to ask about the hat too. 🙂

Thank you very much. 16 year old bass-baryton Bjørn Mathias Tollefsen and soprano Eiri Røed have actually been singing in the same choir for several years already, but it was only this year they met and teamed up in a duet at the regional talent programme. Mathias has qualified to continue in the programme also for the coming year, so it may very well be possible that they will be doing more duets together. 💖

Yes, this was performed inside an old church with stone walls, and as such, the accustics could be a bit much to hear some of the details in his voice production. But performing inside a church has its own characteristics and moods. You are probably right about the verb connections, but assume this is a trade-off with the flow of the music, though it can be improved for sure. 🙂

Thank you so very very much for all the wonderful and encouraging words, which are motivating Mathias a lot to keep working even harder to develop further. Performing for the elder is an important musical mission, as they are normally facing many challenging days filled with both deteriorating health and lonelyness, and on this particular care centre, many of the patients were struggling with dementia challenges. And perhaps particularly on days of celebrations like this one. ❤ You are very right, and this is a fascinating topic, for there is reasearch now verifying that practising and studying music develops cognitive skills and intelligent capacity, especially in early age. I see the same in Mathias, who is also doing very well at school. So now science can actually explain why many musicians also suceed in many other intelligence demanding professions. 🙂

@@keltus_warrior6491 Probably better if his teacher answers this, but in general, he practices modulation a lot, also into the deeper ranges. But in addition to this, there is also an element of shear physics involved, he is simply growing, and in doing so, also his vocal cords grow, and the full bass sound probably cannot be produced until he is fully grown up. 🙂

And you are right, the development is visible by the month now. He is growing up, and must simultaneously adjust and perfectionate his voice production techniques.

Thank you very much. The backdrop here is actually quite dramatic. He sings in the garden right next to our house and home studio, which was destroyed in a big fire less than 24 hours later, thank God everyone made it out alive. We are currently rebuilding the house, and take the opportunity to also upgrade our studio. ❤

Yes, we are rebuilding the house as we speak, with good help of the insurance company amongst others, and hope to move back during the upcoming summer before the start of the next academic year, when Mathias is scheduled to start at the local music highschool. And this time it will also include an upgraded recording studio with music practising fascilities. 🙂
