RC replicas of the greatest race cars in history and other RC boats, planes... etc.
I love RC but I also love classic motorsport.
Since many of my favourite classic race cars are not available as RC bodies, I decided some years ago to vacuum form them by myself.
My first trials with vacuum forming were a disaster, but after a lot of learning by doing, the results have been continuously improving.
In the meantime, I have a nice collection of various historic race cars from the 1950s to the 1970s, up to the most recent Le Mans Hypercars
In my channel, I'm showing how build these RC bodies. But my cars are not only shelf-queens, they are also driven on a regular basis.
General Note: I'm often asked about "where to buy" these RC bodies. Please consider: Making RC bodies of my favourite classic cars is just my hobby. I don't do this commercially, I'm not selling. My videos are meant to be maybe an inspiration for some of you with a "Do-It-Yourself"- mentality.

Second and final video of my Porsche 963 LMDh Le Mans Hypercar build. I painted it in the Hertz Team Jota livery #38, which is my favourite Porsche livery during the 2023 season. The Hetz Team Jota Porsche 963 was in the lead at LeMans when it had a crash in the evening of the race. The repair throw it back, in the end after 24h it finished 40th. Can a Ferrari 250 GTO race on snow? Yes - Jean Guichet competed the "Rallye Niege & Glace" 1965 in a Ferrari GTO. My 1:10 GTO runs on a Tamiya M-06 chassis. The body is selfmade, the livery is actually Pedro Rodriguez' Ferrari in the 1963 Daytona 3h race.

Did it by mixing colors and airbrush
It's beautiful 👏

Absolutely beautiful work. Classic beauties. Well done! Wish they sold those.
Thanks! 👍
That's so sick❤️🔥
What chassis did you use for this?
It's a highly modified Graupner chassis from the '90s. The entire rear section is selfmade.
@@scalercmodels9261 Thanks for responding. What chassis would be feasible for making a 60s F1 car today?
A Tamiya F104 or Fenix Classique would be the ideal basis. Actually the Fenix Classique offers a nice range of '60s bodies already
May I ask what grit you use for final sanding of the mold please? Excellent craftsmanship! Thank you for sharing your skill!
Thanks! Usually the final one is between 400-600. Actually anything above 400 doesn't make a difference
@@scalercmodels9261 Thank you for the reply - it is appreciated!

can you make a koenigsegg agera's body ? I tryng to make the mold
How do you get the nice curved leading edge on the wings with 2 sheets of foam, does it have a balsa leading edge?
Actually, when I remember corectly these wings in this case are made out of 1 piece of foamboard and a balsa stringer. The foamboard gets a kink inside, then some tape for protection on the outside and then is bended over the edge of a table, over the stringer and finally fixated with a little epoxy. Normally I use two sheets, but indeed I answered wrong in a previous comment
Which material did you use to build the body and wings??
Aeronaut Depron 6mm for the wings and 5mm Vector Board for the Fuselage (except the top, this is also Depron). The engine covers are also Depron
@@scalercmodels9261 if use cardboard is it OK or will there be bad consequences
Precise build and right center of gravity etc. is certainly more critical than the choice if the materials. I have never used cardboard, but have seen successful builts
This is absolutely ingenious! What model is this, and where can you find the plans?
Thanks! It is my own design. Actually, the mold was used before for the fuselage of a Focke-Wulf FW190.
thank you very much for making me want to try, I succeeded in a small body like pan car at 1/28 for mini z after the 3rd try by finishing the sides with a heat gun, like you I also drilled a little but on the outside so usable bodywork, on the other hand a small problem that I have is that I used a polyester putty, I think that I should have used putty for wood... and I think that I heats my mold too much with the paint stripper before the operation, and I soften the zinc paint and the putty which has merged in places with the PC, this costs me a lot of cleaning time and a damaged mold... I don't know about you do you really heat your mold a lot? because your details are really always successful we have the impression that the process works really well for you, for me I have the impression that the PC cools down very quickly, I have difficulty getting the edges even a simple right angle either plate well, I try to be fast but I probably don't have your hands too... I will continue to try to improve and make other molds, it's great, thank you again your bodywork is the most beautiful
It does not always work as good as seen in this video. I have fails from time to time. I experienced, that Makrolon seems the best Polycarbonate (for me). I cannot say why, but it works a bit better than others. Pre-drying is also key. I pre-heat my molds only slighly before with a heat gun. A strong vacuum and being very quick from the oven to the mold is also a success key. And furthermore... it took me quite a while and several attempts until I had my 1st acceptable result.
@@scalercmodels9261 Thank you for your response and precision, I understand that success is not 100% guaranteed every time, but already after the 3rd attempt I am very happy to have managed to get my first body out, I understand that the speed of the gesture is essential, I have already reduced as much as possible the delay between the oven and my installation, I still have to practice to try to reach your speed and improve everything that is possible for me to improve, in any case thank you for sharing all that, for providing us with all the technical points and the feedback from your own experience, I confirm it to you, this allows someone who wishes to also achieve things with this technique ... I follow your channel with attention and admiration. Best regards

Nice! Love the work put into the 963 scale body. Question -- are you offering shell/kits for sale?
No, it's only hobby 👍
can order??
I’d like to know how you make the molds so accurate.
3-view prints of the original car and a bit of experience
Hey im doing a school project that is going to closely mirror this but im going to design my own car, How long did it take you to sand your mold before it was perfect?
In total approx. 3-4 hours of work from the first coating until it was done. But not in one go - including the time needed to dry the filler and/or the spray, it was 2-3 days. It's like filler - sanding - filler - sanding - filler - sanding - zincspray - sanding and then it depends if you still see dents or bubbles, maybe again some filler and sanding and the very final is always zincspray and sanding with fine sandpaper (400 or more)
Great run video, I loved the onboard shots and the slo mo! Of course a Ferrari must be red, but the yellow one is pretty goodlooking, too! 🙂
Thanks!
So who made the bodies?
Me

Wow! This is excellent! I would be interested in purchasing this shell if possible! Also, I'm looking to create the Porsche 959 GT IMSA (#180 & #203) shell...any ideas on how I could get started on creating the mold? Tx for any info and great job! Porsche and Penske are happiest right about now!
In principle start woth a chassis which would suit the car/body in the best way (width/wheelbase and height). Then search for blueprints or drawings of your dream car and adopt it to the chassis (maybe it needs to be a bit wider or longer to fit). Then make up you mind if the shape of your car allows the mold to be on one piece of if you need separate sections to take it later out of the body. A 1:18th or 1:24th model also helps to find the right shape. In my channel you find many videos about different mold and bodies which I made, so you can get roughly an idea about the process
Looks nice, hope these handle some waves just as well as their big originals
I’m wondering if your willing to make any r models to sell and if you are what price range do you think
Man that thing looks factory...beautiful car
How did you mount the canopy?
Magnets
Very nice model! But the body mounts don't look good. You could use magnetic body mounts so you don't have to drill holes in your beautyful car bodys.
👏👏👏👏👊👍
