    I have this lens. I want to acquire one more, but just one more. Which other lens do you think that I combine with this lens? Sorry for my English.

    • @petersroom
      @petersroom 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      No problem. My English is also not the best. I recommend to pick a good zoom lens which has great coverage. It could be the sigma 18-50 f2.8 if you want a midrange zoom with decent low light, it could be the tamron 17-70 f2.8, it's the same with the extended range. Or like mine, I have the Sony 18-105 f4 oss. It has the most reach and it's stabilised. Not the best in low light, but it could do a lot for that price. So I would pick the 18-105 f4 👌. You can check I have review videos about that lens. 😎

    I've always found the zoom lenses to be less sharp/worse than the prime lenses, I also like that you have to get more creative because of the limitations of prime lenses. I have the Sony 50mm f2.5 G on my A7C, I love this tiny combo!

    • @petersroom
      @petersroom 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Usually that's why I use primes. I have to be more creative. Compose my shots better. And also if you use one focal length, the results usually more seamless and cohesive.

    • @petersroom
      @petersroom 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      For me it's okey. 24-70 is just as good as 35mm. There are some situations where you can feel that extra background blur with the 35mm, but in the streets it's kind the same.👌

    • @petersroom
      @petersroom 25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      This lens is good in low light, but it doesn't mean that it could see in pitch black. So your sensor needs more light to make less noisy image. You should play with the longer exposure settings.

    What's a good lens setup for indoor sports like hockey and volleyball?

    • @petersroom
      @petersroom 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Sorry for the late response. It's a hard question, but I would recommend zooms mainly. There are a plenty of option, but I don't know that the reach is enough for you, it depends on where do you standing while you shoot. The 18-105 f4 oss could be a good choice, but if the hockey hall is too dark, than you should move on to the f2.8 ones. that could be the sigma 18-50 f2.8 or the tamron 17-70 f2.8, but you should check that this range is enough for the job or not. maybe you should go to more telephoto end.

    How does this review or user experience contradicts Christopher Frost review of this lens. According to Christopher Frost, the bokeh isn’t good and the OSS barely make a difference as shown with his test footage. Just a question. Anyway I respect your opinion. You have amazing content and a respectable TH-cam channel. Like I really want to get this lens but the reviews are so mixed. For example I saw your other review on this lens and it looked so good I was sure to get this lens and then I saw Christopher’s vid and now I don’t like it. And I watch your video again and I want it. It’s blowing my mind

      Hi! Thank you for sharing! I can feel your pain. It could be very frustrating when you get mixed reviews. I really respect Christopher's work. I think he's very structured and he did a great review. He tested the different features really nice and made a conclusion that this lens optically is great or not compared to the "perfect". My video is not about the statistics. I shared my user experience how much i like this lens, and why I like it and also I showed my footage. And when you watch somebody enjoying using something and you can see the results, it causes that excitement, that you want to feel and do the same. And i call it "inspiration". I inspire you to make something. I go through a list of features, but real life is not about statistics and not in the paper. So a lens could be "bad" in paper, but it causes really nice user experience and stunning images. So I don't trust in the paper. It's like CPU stats. Now it's 20% faster and better and in real life when you just use excel and browsers, you cant feel sh*t from this 20% extra power. Otherways with the OSS He showed it in very specific situation, where he just stands and holds it and he said it's not a huge difference. (In this case i could also saw the differences) But if you turn off the stabilization and you go to stabilize in post, it could cause weird artifacts like wobbles. For example if you walking, you can clearly see how effective the oss and how much pain to stabilize in post. With the a6400 in 4k mode the rolling shutter is really bad and if you move a little with the camera you'll cause hard shakes. And shakes with the bad rolling shutter causes really bad wobble artifacts. And you couldnt remove it from post. So if the oss softens the shakes, the image could be much more usable in the end. So there are other situations where the oss could makes a huge difference and i really appreciate that this lens has. I watched a lot of reviews before, but you only get opinions from others. And for me the bokeh is enough and for others it's not. Or if a lens a little bit sharper next to the other or it handles the chromatic aberration better, but for me it's not important, because nowadays almost every lenses are near "perfect" in optics. There are no horrible casting or distortion and it's not dull like a spoon. I think i could make really similar results with a tech sharp lens and with a "not that sharp" lens: look at my sigma and kit lens comparison here: th-cam.com/video/roIx6Kn21qc/w-d-xo.html So i think you should not choose to buy a lens or not because of the sharpness or the chromatic aberration, because in the end you couldnt tell the difference. Or check this one where i compare the a7s3 with the a6400 at 3:42 th-cam.com/video/T8uJarZ4T6g/w-d-xo.html Even me I cant tell which camera and lens is which. Or here at 4:50 th-cam.com/video/7G4WrUygGsE/w-d-xo.html . So in the end i really enjoyed using that lens. And if you're hesitating to buy it, you could rent it for a day from a local store (where i live it's around 10$ for a day) which could help you to decide that you want it or not. No stress :D

Also thank you for replying. There’s a lot of people that don’t reply so I really appreciate it! I have the Sony 11mm and going to return it for the Sony 35mm

    What do you think about the Sony 11mm f1.8 prime lens? I use my a6700 most for travel vlogs…

    • @petersroom
      @petersroom หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi! I think thats a nice wide lens, for vlogging it could be really nice. If its mainly just talking head i think its enough, but maybe you should get some longer focal lenght too, like an 50mm or 85mm …if you want some variation of the look. Which is 35 and 56 mm in apsc sensor. I think that could cover a lot, or maybe i would picking up a more versatile zoom lens. I usually use zoom lenses, because i dont have time to swap between an ff24mm and ff70mm lens. The main question is that you want to vlog from your hand or could you use a small tripod to do that. Because if you could, than you dont really need the 11 mm wideness. You could go for a more versatile midrange zoom lens which covers a lot more focal lenghts than one 11mm. But dont get me wrong, i think the 11mm is a really nice lens… and it looks unique..but i think it could limits you when you want to record something else than vlogs from your hand. For example brolls from the place where you are, the details around you, some closeups. Those can help you to make more interesting stories. I hope it helps you to choose.

      @@petersroom thank you 🙏🏻 Your suggestion helps me a lot. I gonna pick up the Sigma 18-50mm f.2.8. So that might be the perfect travel lens for my a6700 :)

    • @petersroom
      @petersroom หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Chris_P.eterson I think the sigma 18-50 f2.8 is a jack of all trades. You get wides, mids, details, and its light weight, decent low light.. and you can crop in a little bit if you need more range. So I think its a great choice. 😎👌

    Do you recommend this lens for night shooting? With a 6700

    • @petersroom
      @petersroom หลายเดือนก่อน

      Definitely yes! 👌 I think usually around f2.8 you get nice lowlight shots on APSC. Its f1.8 so its much better. But it depends on how dark is the scene. In complete darkness there is no lens which could make good pictures.
