Speedramp. You’ve probably watched tons of tutorials on how to make that perfect, smooth speedramp-right? But what if I told you... they're missing something crucial? Today, I'm going to break down the REAL technique to get cinematic, seamless speedramps, and trust me, it’s not what you’ve seen before. You can make speedramps with curves right in the fusion page, which looks much better than in the EDIT page.
Follow my 5 steps:
1. How to record
2. How to stabilize
3. The perfect SPEEDRAMP method
4. Effects (shake, light, sound)
5. Motion Blur

Im more into photography, and i am thinking if Fujifilm X-T30 II or Sony A6400
omg thank you so much!!!
You're welcome 😎
Amazing breakdown tutorial thank you. One question though, why is it that after using the time stretcher, the clip then becomes choppy? Even after rendering its no longer smooth. I even used optical flow and "Enhanced better" but it didnt do much. Another issue is that after I use the tracker, and go back to the edit page, I have to create a compound clip. Otherwise if I use time stretcher, its for some reason defaulting back to the entire raw clip, versus the way I had it dropped into my timeline. It wont let me change the start and end point so this is why I have to create a compound clip before using time stretcher. I shoot at 60fps 1/125 and 24fps timeline . When I edit and speed ramp the traditional way, every is buttery smooth.
OH WAIT, just realized you create a "Fusion Clip" so let me try that and see what happens
Well that didnt work. I even tried changing the interpolation modes and same thing
Thank you! 🙏 If you're done with the stabilising, you have to turn your clip into a fusion clip. There you'll no longer see the tracking nodes. And if you put the time stretcher it should handle the missing frames and your clip is no longer choppy. Maybe somehow the compound clips causes these problems, but i don't know the answer yet. Connect me on my discord server. You can share your screenrecords there, maybe we could find out.
17:00 i think if you just simply adjust the length of the clip using ctrl+R and then drag out the clip to the fit the beat, you'll still have the original speedramp and wont need to adjust it again, am i right?
Thank you for asking! For me it's not working, after i extend the fusion clip it becames really choppy. Maybe it's because it's not the original clip, just a fusion clip, but there is a chance, that it works with some workaround. I'll play with that. 😎
@petersroom try using optical flow node before timestrecher node, then in timestrecher node change the option to flow and check the boxes see if it makes a difference, i pointed it out cuz i synced my clips that way in some of the gaming edits i made , nevertheless great video by you keep it up!
WTH , it should be illegal to not like this tutorial!!!
Thanks 😎🙏
btw you can fix your sound noise in davinci with click in the effects panel
yy, I know, but i forgot :D
@petersroom its okay shit happens
i don´t comment anything on youtube very often but man .. this is the best speedramping tut i´ve watched so far! Thank you so much <3
Wow! Thanks 😎🫶
Me, an Adobe user that has never used Davinci yet : looking at these videos feels like being in a couple for a very long time having some repeated issues and red flags, knowing there will be other options, yet not having the courage to leave.
I really like DR and i also come from Adobe.

dude you just did it wrong
Hey! What did I wrong? :D
is it just me or is the audio for the video broken? (Great tutorial tho)
Thanks! No. You're right, my audio was my mistake. 🥶
may i ask whats the name og that CTRL G? may i know what tool is that?? my shortcut is not available.. mark at 6:06
You can also right-click in a viewer (image) in fusion, choose Guides>Show Guides. But I think the shortcut in windows is CTRL + G too. Check it there. I hope it helps :D

On tip for 4:57 , on the adaptive mode try to select the "best match" so u get the best results
Thank you for sharing! I'll try it 🫶
Hi Peter, 02:20 regarding your audio setup: you loose details of your voice putting the mic this far up. Id suggest to use the magnet and put it on you hoodie right in the middle of your chest. this is where you'd put a lavalier for best results. Also you might use noise reduction and a little bit of EQ - both in Davinci to enhance sound quality :)
Hey! Thank you for the suggestions.🙏 I'll try that one too. I forgot to clear the audio, because i was in rush. Next time I'll take care more of the audio part. 😅

@ I just shot my first basketball video and have been using this method for the past 8 hours lmao
@@yurr6734 nicee! I’m happy to hear that! 🤘 if you feel, you can share your results with us here 😎
Davinci is horrible with sped ramps knowing most of the market of creators speed ramp. Adobe wins this one but I will forever use davinci and it's hard ass pragmatical ways
Thanks for sharing! Yes this is a little bit complicated next to other editor softwares.
There's a MUCH simpler way. In edit page, when you've set your keyframe and curve, hold Command key (don't know windows equivalent) and now you can can control either arm individually to adjust your curve to your preference. Saved me years of workarounds.
Hi! Thank you for sharing! 🙏 Could you explain it more to me? I'm not sure, I did it right 😅 But it sounds really interesting. So if I'm in the edit page and I made the keyframes. Keyframes on "retime speed" or where?
@@petersroom sure thing! for reference, go to minute 1:36, your keyframe has handles on both sides. if you drag the handle (the little red dot at the end of the handle) while holding command, you'll affect the curve only on that side without affecting the other.
The video i needed !
Thanks! I'm happy to hear that 🫶

Thanks! 🫶 Yes! I made a quick colorgrade on it. But i didn't show it, because the video was so long without that too. 😅
love the video man keep up the great work! I have a questions my tracking keeps twitching and is not smooth. Is there a way to fix it so that when its tracking it doesn't just to something else?
Thank you! I really appreciate 🫶 You can try the planar tracking if the intellitrack didn't work. Or I got a tip from one of my commenters. "At 4:57 , on the adaptive mode try to select the "best match" so u get the best results" Maybe it could help you too. Let me know if it works! 🙏

HI! It depends on what do you want to shoot. :D
My guy.. This is by far the best Speed Ramp tutorial I've seen on TH-cam!! You showed the most important things such as stabilizing the footage (properly) how to actually do the speed ramp the right way & how to make the speed ramp go with the beat! I subbed.
Thanks man! I'm really appreciate that 😎 🙏
For the planar tracker method,u can just choose stabilize and there is an option for auto zoom without adding a transform node
Nice! I didn't know it. There are some gems in the comment section. 🙏
Appreciate the tutorial, learned a lot. The only thing that discourages me is too much steps to do a thing you can do with much less effort on Capcut for example.
Thanks! Yes, but if it's in your hand, it works really fast. Right capcut and AE is quicker. This method is good, if you want to stay in DR and do everything here one place.
@@petersroom They need to simplify a lot of things to encourage newer users to migrate from other softwares. Capcut won over many people for its simplicity.
I love you for making this. Powerful information, retiming in fusion looks so much better. So glad I had subbed your channel to see this pop up.
Thanks mate! 🫶

HI! Yes, i got a lot of comment about this. I forget to clean the audio.
Wow. No offence but Resolve monsters with amazing speedramp tutorials never did that. plus sub. Rock on dude!
Thank you! 🫶
Gems were dropped in this video 💯
Thanks! I appreciate 😎
Hi I usually do real estate videos where I am shooting 50 fps, then I change all of them to 25fps to make clips slowmo. Should I keep them 50 fps or it does not matter.
Hi! You don't have to do that. I also shoot usually in 50fps and i keep them as it was. The curve will do the job for. Maybe if you have 25fps clips it can cause some blending artifacts, because there is not enough frames and the time stretcher try to fill the missing frames. If you shoot at 50fps , you can slow down by 50%. But you'll be go way below that, if you make a reverse ramp. So maybe if you already start with a 25fps clip, there is a chance that it will be bad in the end.
Thank you guys for your support!🙏 I really appreciate it and You're awesome. 🔥🔥🔥 I know my audio sounds really bad, I was in a rush and i forgot to clean that. 🥶 But next time i'll pay more attention... But if think like this.. it could trigger the algorithm, because a lot of people commented about this. 😅 Just kidding, i'll clean my audio next time, cause i know how frustrating could it be. Happy editing! 😎
Great speed ramp, trash Audio please get better
Thanks! Yes i know, next time i'll take care more about the audio part.
