    This tutorial was probably one of the most comprehensive yet easy to understand tutorials I have ever watched and I’ve been using Davinci Resolve for years. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! A massive thing I had no idea of how to do was the forward reverse speed ramps. I got around it by using the speed controls on the time line then switching to speed curves which showed the reverse control below 0 to -100 and beyond but this took me 4 years to figure out 🙏 Thank you so much.

    There's a MUCH simpler way. In edit page, when you've set your keyframe and curve, hold Command key (don't know windows equivalent) and now you can can control either arm individually to adjust your curve to your preference. Saved me years of workarounds.

    • @petersroom
      @petersroom  7 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Hi! Thank you for sharing! 🙏 Could you explain it more to me? I'm not sure, I did it right 😅 But it sounds really interesting. So if I'm in the edit page and I made the keyframes. Keyframes on "retime speed" or where?

    • @alexeiaacosta
      @alexeiaacosta 6 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      @@petersroom sure thing! for reference, go to minute 1:36, your keyframe has handles on both sides. if you drag the handle (the little red dot at the end of the handle) while holding command, you'll affect the curve only on that side without affecting the other.

    • @petersroom
      @petersroom  วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@alexeiaacosta Finally i get it. Yes it's really useful, but still you can't reverse the ramp in the end. But thanks, i didnt know about it. 👏

    • @alexeiaacosta
      @alexeiaacosta 9 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

    Hell yes! I'm happy to see you figured out the motion blur part, very comprehensive tutorial, you did great!
    I'm still exporting graded and stabilized clips and spped ramping in AE, mostly because i find everything way more intuitive for speed ramping and text work over there. Also the fact that fusion will not let you work with the clips surrounding it just drives me up a wall most of the time.

    • @petersroom
      @petersroom  9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you for sharing! I totally understand you. I used to use AE for speed ramping before, but i wanted to be more efficient and that's why I stayed in DR. I got everything there. The cut, Ramp, colorgrade, effects. But still really like how AE works in Speedramps. 😎

    This is literally the only reason I use Final Cut Pro even though I have a studio licence for DaVinci. I do real estate videos for a living and simply need the speed and efficiency of speed ramping that FCP offers. This is a good solution to the speed ramping limitation in DaVinci, but is still slower than FCP, hopefully DaVinci Resolve can incorporate the ability to control the curves right in the edit page in the near future

      Thanks! 🫶 I used to use a custom built Gaming PC. Ryzen 3900X with 32GB RAM and RTX3080 and i was very unsatisfied with the performance. Then I watched a lot of reviews and i figured out that the M1 MAX is really great and a lot of creators still using it instead of buying the M3 and M4. And because of the M3 and M4 the M1 MAX price dropped down, so I bought a spect out used one... and it's blazing fast. The worklow is so fluid. I use h.265 with 4k 60 and 120fps and i can run it smoothly without any proxies. And i use a lot of effects like film emulation (grain, halation, bloom). It works really nice. The text animations also great, but if i use the render cache then it's perfect. So I think you don't really need more than this. I have the M1 MAX 32GB 1TB SSD. Have a nice day mate! 😎

  • @garynguyen6621
    @garynguyen6621 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Amazing breakdown tutorial thank you. One question though, why is it that after using the time stretcher, the clip then becomes choppy? Even after rendering its no longer smooth. I even used optical flow and "Enhanced better" but it didnt do much. Another issue is that after I use the tracker, and go back to the edit page, I have to create a compound clip. Otherwise if I use time stretcher, its for some reason defaulting back to the entire raw clip, versus the way I had it dropped into my timeline. It wont let me change the start and end point so this is why I have to create a compound clip before using time stretcher.
    I shoot at 60fps 1/125 and 24fps timeline . When I edit and speed ramp the traditional way, every is buttery smooth.

    • @garynguyen6621

      Well that didnt work. I even tried changing the interpolation modes and same thing

    • @petersroom
      @petersroom  6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you! 🙏 If you're done with the stabilising, you have to turn your clip into a fusion clip. There you'll no longer see the tracking nodes. And if you put the time stretcher it should handle the missing frames and your clip is no longer choppy. Maybe somehow the compound clips causes these problems, but i don't know the answer yet. Connect me on my discord server. You can share your screenrecords there, maybe we could find out.

    Hi I usually do real estate videos where I am shooting 50 fps, then I change all of them to 25fps to make clips slowmo. Should I keep them 50 fps or it does not matter.

    • @petersroom
      @petersroom  8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi! You don't have to do that. I also shoot usually in 50fps and i keep them as it was. The curve will do the job for. Maybe if you have 25fps clips it can cause some blending artifacts, because there is not enough frames and the time stretcher try to fill the missing frames. If you shoot at 50fps , you can slow down by 50%. But you'll be go way below that, if you make a reverse ramp. So maybe if you already start with a 25fps clip, there is a chance that it will be bad in the end.
