    I made all the test footage by my Sony a6400 APSC camera, but it's even better on the NEW Sony a6700 or in the fx30.

    In this video i make an in-depth lens comparison between the Sigma 16mm f1.4 vs the sony 16-50mm kit lens. First i bought the sigma because of the great shallow depth of field. You can compare the images next to each other.
    In my opinion the sigma is one of the best APSC lens which made for the sony crop sensor cameras. You can see their real abilities while taking photos and videos.

      Hey! Thank you for asking! 🙏 It depends on what would you like to shoot. For talking head videos the kit lens can be a workhorse. If you want to shallow your background more, than pick the sigma. But imo, the kit lens is good enough. Your content matters more than the shallow depth of field. I would start with the kit lens. Good luck! 😎

    I'm thinking of getting the sigma lens with the NEW Sony a6700, you mention it would work better in your description, is that because of the overall stabilization in the 6700?

    • @petersroom
      @petersroom  17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi! Thank you for asking! Sure the a6700 works better than my a6400 with the sigma 16mm. 1) the a6700 has more resolution, so it would be sharper. 2) It has much better rolling shutter in 4k so your handheld shots would be better 3) The OSS can help you a ton

    • @petersroom
      @petersroom  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi! Thank you bro! 🙏😊 For portrait i would go for an APSC 35mm or 56mm lens. The 35mm will gives you a Fullframe 50mm look, which is my favorite portrait focal lenth. The 56mm will gives you a standard 85mm look which is the "tipical portrait" look. But its a little bit too tight for my taste. So i would go for a sony 35mm f1.8 OSS if you go both video/photo or Sigma f1.4 if you only go for photography. But if you want more "blurry" compressed look than the sigma 56mm f1.4. Have a nice day mate!🙌😎

    Great video, really useful to see side by side comparisons at 16mm f1.4 vs f3.5. I take a lot of wide angle full body portraits and the f1.4 gives a shallow depth of field that the kit lens, or even the 10-18 f4 cannot. Will be buying the Sigma now for sure.

      You're welcome :) In budget i would use the 16-50 kit lens with good lighting. But if you have budget you could go for the sigma 16mm f1.4. But i would 100% go for a good light, because it would make your videos so much better. With shitty lighting the sigma would make really bad videos also. Lighting is king. :D Have a nice day bro ;)

    I recently bought a Sony A6700. Now I'm even more concerned which lens to choose when upgrading my kitlens. But very helpful video, thank you for that! Maybe investing in better lights will be a good option instead of thinking about buying a new lens for 300€ or more. I started shooting videos in my room and now I thought I'd like to upgrade my kitlens because of the poor low light performance. I often hate that my footage looks grainy even with base ISO of 800 or 2500 in slog3. I only got one Keylight (not really a softlight) and I think it looks bad, so I thought getting a new lens would get the job done. When I record inside on a tripod I use 30mm very often, so I thought the Sigma 30mm would be good, then I did some research and because I wanna vlog as well, I thought of the 16mm because when I'm not vlogging and film on a tripod in my room I can move the camera closer to my face and it would be alright. Now I see that the difference for videos is not really big, but because I want to take good pictures as well I thought of getting the Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 so I have a versatile lens for everything (kind of), but the low light performance may be worse so maybe I should buy a prime lens? I need help. I am literally stuck. Yeah upgrading lighting is the next step I do, but after that I wanna upgrade my lens. Which one should I get? It's very very hard to decide.

    • @petersroom
      @petersroom  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hi mate! Thank you for asking! ISure, it's a really hard question. I've had this dilemma before too. The answer is hardly depends on you needs. I think i would go for a prime lens if i have really specific and good knowledge about what do i want to shoot. For example i knew that i would like to shoot wider pictures, videos for example talking heads or brolls with really great bokeh with the sigma 16mm. But if i have a budget for only one lens, i would go for a great constant aperture zoom lense. But keep in mind that my needs may be different than yours. I shoot a lot of brolls, street photography, product photography, portraits, travel films..etc and because of this i need that flexibility. So i would go with the sigma 18-50 or the tamron 17-70. Those are great all arounder lenses. But let's say if i only shoot youtube videos at home. I would go for the sigma 16mm, cause its more flexible than the 30mm. You have to go much further with the 30mm if you want to show a little bit more from you or your environment. But in post you can crop in with the 16mm if you want a closeup. The 4k lets you crop around 1.5 times and it still looks good. And also much easier to talk a camera from a hand distance than further. First i thought that the aperture is that much deal if it's 1.4 or 2.8 but after a lot of shooting.. its just not. I think the lighting worth so much more than a good lens. Even with a shitty phone i could make great images if the lighting is great. I only need a good lens if i cant adjust the lighting, like wedding shootings or documentary, street photos etc... but if you have a cheap soft main light with a hair light like the aputure mc and an other mc for backroung light.. it's enough for just starting. And your image will be so much better than with a good 1.4 lens. First i would buy lighting and use it with the kit lens. So overall. If you have hard light, than make it softer with a bedcover or something, if its not working, than buy a standard 5500k daylight balance light with a stand for main light and 2 other small rgb practical lights. And i would go for the sigma 18-50 or the tamron 17-70. You can be suprized how great those lens are and you dont really need a prime. But there are some benefits with prime lenses too. You can master 1 focal length and your vision would be much better, you can see scenes in different focal length only with your eyes, because you know how would it look. Or if you want to try it, i think you could rent lenses from a local store. Its not that pricy and you can see the results. That was my recommendation. Have a nice evening!🙏😊

    Hi. I will only speak in front of the camera. I also want the background to be slightly blurred. Sigma 16mm 1.4f is good at making blur, but I'm worried that it's exaggerated. The kit lens isn't bad either. what do you think?

    • @petersroom
      @petersroom  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi! I think the sigma is really great for speaking front of the camera, but first i would go with the kit lens because its cheaper and buying some cheap led lights and try to make a good background. The results are so much better with nice soft lights and good looking background than one good lens without lights. And also i recommend a good microphone. I have a cheap rode videmicro but i have a microphone stand and i can boom up the mic above my head close to my mouth, so the sound is great in my newer videos. After a while if you want you can also upgrade to the sigma 16mm. And also i recommend to rent it for a day before buying, because than you can feel what the lens can do.

    • @petersroom
      @petersroom  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Zv-e10 is nice with the kitlens. I use the cheapest shotgun mic from rode called “rode videomicro” and i have a microphone stand, dont know the name, but its just a simple foldable microphone stand. You can attach it with a longer cable to your camera. You can use other microphones too. But dont forget to set the camera mic level around between 6-15 cause your signal will be noisy.

    Szia a napokban vásároltam én is egy Sigma 16mm f1.4 obit használtan. A kép minőségével elégetett vagyok az autó fókusz is egészen jól teszi a dolgát. Feltűnt, hogy valamivel hangosabb a fókusz motor a többi lencsémhez képest. Ha kézzel adom meg neki a fókuszpontot (kijelzőn érintve) esetleg nagyobb a két pont közötti fókusz távolság kattanás szerű hangosabb hangot ad ki. (Ennyire hangosan állna be a lencse egyes esetekben?) Ez normális ennél lencsénél vagy esetleg nálam lehet valami gond? A képalkotásnál nem jelentkeznek problémák, a fókusz is gyors pontos, bár sötét témánál kicsit lomhább. (Összehasonlításképpen a Tamron 18-300 obim teljesen hangtalan hozzá képest.) A másik, ami még feltűnt, hogy a napellenző is kicsit mozog zárt állapotában is bár kopásra vagy túlhasználatra utaló jelek nincsenek rajta. (Samyang 12mm f/2 NCS CS obimnál is van némi mozgás új kora óta.)

      Hi! Thank you for sharing. I always hesitate when would like to buy a new lens so thats why i made this video, to help you decide Is it worth the upgrade or not. I think the sigma is a very great lens, i love the look which can sigma provide. Its the best at 16mm in my opinion, but a lot of cases you will not notice any differences compared to the kitlens. Don't get me wrong, i'm really happy with the sigma, cause sometimes i can feel that extra "flame" in the pictures. But in content creation perspective, it doesn't really matter in my opinion. In a lot of videos in youtube you only see that the sigma is a must have lens and you didn't get any comparison with the kit lens. And yes, the sigma images are amazing, but the kit lens can make the job done too. I always recommend to rent a lens for a day from a local store before buying, because than you can easily decide that you like it or not. Have a nice day mate! :D

    Valóban nem fognak többen nézni csak azért mert kcisit jobb a bokeh a háttérben, DE (!!!) egy bézik telefonos felvételnél ami bár lehet jó - sokkal komolyabb hitelességet kölcsönöz a kontent kreátornak egy shallow depth of field hatás. Tudat alatt a néző a professzionálisabb kivitelezést hajlamos preferálni és a viewer retention is magasabb a jobb minőség esetében. Én speciel egyből kilövöm a francba az olyan videót amely valamilyen szinten nem felel meg a quality elvárásomnak. Ha nem nyűgöz le az amit hallok akkor megy az X és keresek a témában egy profibb tartalmat. Számít a profi minőség és ez a lencse bőven hozza ezt a minőséget a megfelelő megvilágítással. És használtan a hardverapro-n kb 90k (most vettem :D ) .. egy 1.4-es sigma lencséért. Ez álomba illő. És még full frame gép sem kell hozzá. :) Konkrétan egy használt settet a6500-al 350 000ft-ért hozol és képileg az élmezőnyben vagy. Szerintem ez a lencse E-mountnál igenis MUST HAVE. Már, ha videózol és magadat veszed.

    • @petersroom
      @petersroom  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Ez mondjuk igaz, nagyon sok esetben számít a minőség. Rajongok azért, amikor látok egy minőségi, jó felvételt. Viszont, ha már valaki eleve nagyon jó videókat csinál, akkor nagyon nehéz megmondani, hogy ez most f3.5 vagy f1.4 -en lett felvéve és sokszor a törénet átéléséhez nem is számít. Mert a kompozíció érdekes, a fények jók, kameramozgás izgalmas, a történet leköt és sorolhatnám. Az összhatás annyira magával ragad, hogy nem is hiányzik. Sőt, sokszor a mozifilmeknél látom, hogy rengetegszer használnak szűk rekeszt egyes jelenetekhez.
      Nyilván amúgy attól függ mit szeretnék elérni. Viszont, ha azt mondjuk, hogy általánosságban az elmosottabb háttér egy profibb hatástkölcsönöz a videóknak, akkor tényleg a sigma egy baromi jó ár-érték arányú objektív. Ráadásul ezt a hatást, akár egy apsc szenzoron is el tudod érni, az tényleg a mesékbe illő. Viszont szerintem, ha a story ha jól van elmesélve, akkor az mindent visz. (nyilván nem akármilyen témakörben) De itt van pl.: Casey Neistat. Van olyan videója, amit 43M ember nézett meg. A videóban nincsenek kifejezetten jó felvételek és mégis úgy van felépítve, hogy összességében nagyon élvezetes végignézni. Nyilván, nem ilyen minőségben szeretnék egész estés filmet nézni, de ezeknek a tartalmaknak is megvan a helye és ott nem feltétlen igényel jobb minőséget. Visszatérve az alap tézisre, szerintem is baromi jó vétel a sigma + sony a6xxx bármelyik tagja. Szerintem is most ez a legjobb ár/érték arányú setup, ami a piacon van. Gratula az objektívhez amúgy. :D
