    Did you try the tests for your hip abductors? I find they're weak in most people with knee pain. I hope these exercises help you to feel better soon and thanks so much for watching! 👊🏼

      Hi Doc, I managed the tests fine, however when I was doing the floor exercise with the band I felt the sore leg weaker than the other. So you’re spot on. I didn’t have the right band so I tied a knot in a regular band and it worked fine. Thank you for all your sessions including this super valuable one for my sore knee. Diana in Hong Kong 🇭🇰

      Yes, my hip abductors are definitely weak! But Ive had patella reconstruction only on my right knee, and I need reconstruction on my left, too. Are these exercises still ok then?

The explanations and video examples you do are PERFECT for those of us that have trouble understanding only spoken direction/drawn diagrams/written instructions. • @daan260
      @daan260 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      This is just one of the many possible causes of your knee pain and there are many kinds of knee pain as well. You should probably see a professional to examine your knee, hips, ankles etc. You have to know the muscles that are weak and the once that are too tight. I'm a physical therapist, so I can give you some general advice... first stop running and avoid anything that causes pain during the activity or afterwards. start stretching and stretch the muscles that feel tight especially. If that goes well and the pain has subsided for the most part, you can start strength training. Start easy and light weight and build up slowly. If that goes well you can slowly add in running and other kinds of dynanic movements.

    Thanks. You are absolutely spot on. I suffered decades of pain until I discovered the root cause. It's information that in an ideal world every child would learn so they never get knee pain in the first place, it's always a shame that we often only find the solution to problems after they cause harm.

    I have outer knee pain that doesn't happen unless I'm walking or up for a long period of time, and I performed your test. The first time I immediately leaned over to the side and the second time I tried to have more control and I felt tension in the back of my thigh and very clearly saw my hip sink under the weight . I am overweight and working on strengthening my body to comfortably carry myself so thank you helping me identify what area needs strengthening. I already knew my back and core were where to start, but my hips I didn't think of as being a weak link to my knee issue, rather I thought my knee was causing my hip pain. Now I understand.

      Hi, I don't know if it will be helpful for you, but I follow a TH-cam channel called MSworkouts. I don't have MS, but I have other chronic illnesses, and I find their videos to be really helpful and specifically informed for people with illnesses that caused our bodies to react differently to exercises and stretches.
      I love channels like Tone and Tighten for overall information and/or to target specific issues (like this video, which is so helpful for my chronic knee pain - thank you to the creator!), but also find it very helpful to tailor the exercises to my own body in order to avoid damaging it further (which I'm sure you can relate to).
      Anyway, hopefully this is a resource you can use, and if not, then maybe at least a point of connection in your day. I wish you peace, strength, and pain-free days! 💚

    I'm officially subscribed. I fractured my proximal fibula 3 years ago by getting knocked over by a wave at the beach. It was unidentifiable on an x-ray so it went undiagnosed for about 2 weeks as I walked around in pain. I went through a year of PT and a surgery, a meniscal tear, hip, back pain. The pain comes back intermittently because I forget that I will be forever fighting hip/quad weakness (they told me this during PT. They too were amazing). I just forget and I've been in so much pain lately and don't have the time to spend going to PT 2-3 hours a week, I just need these videos! Thank you sooo much!!!!

    • @janinedear-barlow

      I took a few months but that was from not being able to lift my leg up at from. These were my physio after a massive hip operation, apart from the side plank. I need to get back into doing it though as my hips are still weak.

    I've been doing your hip (bursa) stretch and strength excersizes for just over 4 days now, 3 times a day and I am already seeing a big improvement. I'm 6ft, 84kg and pretty fit. But I've suffered with knee and hip pain for a while. Will for sure give these excersizes a go! Thanks!

    • @toneandtighten
      @toneandtighten  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm stoked those hip stretches are helping, FAynEs! The exercises in this video could certainly help your condition further. Start slow and don't do anything that hurts your hip, but I definitely like this progression for hip bursitis pain. Good luck!

    Wow, thanks! I did tend to point my knee in when doing squats and lounges. I did some assisted rear lounges on my bad knee with good knee position. After a few a got a good healthy pop out of my knee and it feels better.

      You're very welcome, Toni! I wouldn't recommend doing all four exercises every time, but the goal is to progress through them as your strength allows. The exercise you select can be done once daily. Good luck!

    Hi! I’m about to be dismissed from PT for my knees, hamstrings and hips. I really feel all my exercises. It’s a workout! (.Im not doing any of these above.). My left knee started hurting when our 92 lb lab saw a squirrel and I didn’t let go of the leash. My doc was really casual about and said take Aleve. Two years later, I still can’t go for walks, even grocery shopping is rough. I skate/slide back to my car, sometimes leaving the cart of food with an employee saying, “I’ve gotta go.” Finally got firm with my PA and said, “Something is wrong/torn, I want exrays and I want to see an orthopedic. I was convinced to try injections. That helped some with my stage 2 arthritis, but still, something is wrong with my left knee, area BEHIND my left knee, rt hip. I still can’t walk much at all, I do ice, PT twice a week. I joined the Y and can’t walk on treadmill. Too painful. The PT said, don’t do it. Ride the recumbent bike. I “kneed” help! Do I demand an MRI? I really want to go for 4 mile walks someday! I’m 62. Yes, left knee grinds and pops, sometimes gives out. Thanks!!!
