Hello from America. Thank you Will for always being positive. My Dr. of Osteopathic medicine had absolutely NO suggestions for the knee pain I’ve been experiencing, after X-rays revealed server bone on bone osteoarthritis. He told me a cortisone injection would help. I got it… week later still not great but better. Then I got to thinking most health professionals in this country are at the mercy of insurance companies. This is a profit business. He told me I’d be looking at surgery in 2 yrs. $$$….. He never discussed diet, lifestyle changes, physical therapy. Just so you know we all on your channel appreciate your honesty. Jan

I fixed knee pain by walking backwards on the treadmill or on the hill near my home. So I walk very slow on the treadmill, I can hold on to the hand holds for balance. I turn on the belt very slow and just leave it there and turn around while it’s moving, it’s not a speed exercise. I do this for about 2.5 to 4 minutes, whatever I tolerate. Works great. If I slack off doing this exercise and the pain returns, I just get back to doing it. My knee pain is a muscle that often feels like a painful rope on my medial (inner) knee, not inside my knee, it’s not bone pain or inside the joint, it’s a muscle on the outside. I twisted this knee years ago by stepping into a hole that had caused swelling at that time.

This is marvellous and I can’t thank you enough. I’m nearly 75 and been walking & cycling my whole life. Coming out of winter in February or so, I had a craving for biking and didn’t follow up. Then come March, my right knee started acting up. Got X-ray found out a lil arthritis and Dr said the cartilage looked fine. He prescribed cycling to me on a stationary bike. Did some, helped a…bit…then a few days ago TH-cam showed me a physiotherapist teaching standing exercises for knees which was bit painful to do standing. Started doing your exercises 2 days ago, I can already feel the benefits. I’m so amazed. Thank you thank you thank you Dr Harlow. You’re the best. I’m subscribing. ❤❤❤

I was suffering joint pain (especially knees and elbows) a few months back, which came on quite suddenly. I took a good look at my diet and cut out chocolate (not that it is chocolate in the UK anymore! I used to eat a lot.) and other sweet treats, improved my intake of fruit and vegetables, have more full fat dairy and red meat, absolutely nothing processed, and within a month I had no more joint pains. At 56 years of age, a long distance lorry driver, I'm glad my issue was just down to diet as it was affecting my ability to work. I can still get up from a crouched position without using my arms, and as long as I keep moving as much as possible while behind the wheel I do not get any aches or pains at all at the end of a long days working.

On a similar note, (but not to take away from HT's most excellent information), sore knees can also be caused by too much sugar in the diet. I went to Italy twice this year and both times came back with swollen, sore and stiff knees (too much pasta, pizza, cakes & puddings!) After a bit of research, my suspicions were confirmed.

Hi Will THANK YOU so much for all your awesome info for our older folk. I'm 69 still very active with my house chores. I don't suffer from knee pain as such but rather weakness in the knees especially when l have to climb a staircase. Any suggestions please

Such brilliant simple yet effective exercises. I started doing your 1 minute glut warmup before walking 2 weeks ago and the difference is incredible.
    Thank you so much

Stretching exercises make little sense because this is a case of tendonitis. The inflammation must be treated first. Turmeric is a natural remedy for healing inflammation. One should not consume turmeric raw. In the morning, pour boiling water over a handful of turmeric and make a turmeric tea. A pinch of pepper on top. Frankincense tablets are also good for healing inflammation. After a few days, the inflammation should be gone. Then one can do stretching exercises again.

I’ve just had a second total knee replacement in the same knee in 14 months. I kept falling over with the first as my knee kept giving way without notice so I had to rely on crutches but I still fell and fractured my neck, fractured many ribs, sustained many concussions after falling backwards down 3 steps with multiple lacerations and other injuries. It was a mechanical problem so my surgeon took out the prosthetic and put what he described as a more stable on. I’m three months post surgery and still in excruciating pain 24/7 and no medication helps so I rely on ice. I can’t be active on my feet for more than two hours as I’m crippled with pain, just like the first surgery. I have not fallen, buta quite a few times I’ve felt my knee almost give way, but very managed to regain my balance. I’ve now been on crutches 17 months and post surgery I was in a rehabilitation hospital for 5 weeks and was doing really well with not too much pain. However when I returned home I had to do everything for myself, cooking, cleaning shopping etc because I live alone and all the extra work and time on my feet causes excruciating crippling pain after two hours so I have to elevate my leg and ice it. I wish I’d never had the surgery as my pain was not nearly as bad as it is now, but I was working bone on bone. I attend out patient Physiotherapy session twice a week for two hours and do the exercises at home the other days. Do you think these exercises would help me? I just don’t see any progress and I’ve been on crutches 17 months now and petrified of falling as I’m a 73 year old woman with osteoarthritis and osteoporosis so that’s why I have sustained so many fractures when falling. I had a hip replacement over three years ago and did follow up physiotherapy exercises and measure back to normal, pain free within a few months. This pain is so debilitating and prevents me doing activities I enjoy and I feel so isolated because I can’t sleep with the pain so I’m very sleep deprived too. I went from an extremely active person who could work hard all day without a problem, but now I feel truly disabled and wondering if I’ll ever be able to return to my old active life again. Thank you for showing those exercises adrift you think they may help, I will add them to my routine I would appreciate your views. Thank you so much. Joan 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Thank you Will for the excellent advice, stretches and exercises; very clearly explained and demonstrated.
I will be adding these to my knee strengthening exercises from my Physio, and have no doubt they will prove to be highly effective in reducing, and hopefully eliminating my knee pain all together.
Feeling very optimistic now - enormous thanks for this! 🙏
