I found a good amount of raw Chrystocolla out here in Az. My friends and I also found some turquoise. I am glad I found this video! Absolutely beautiful results❤❤❤.❤
Paul what a wonderful demonstration. I never knew about the ultra sonic cleaner. It really made a difference. They look so amazing ! Thanks for sharing👍
Howdy Paul, great shine and yes I did spot the ring light 😂😂😂. But yeah man, awesome video. Glad you showed the sonic clean…also my last step in very hot water.
Thanks Charl, I haven't tried "very" hot water but will next time, I've used the ring light for a while now but usually just off to the side, I really wanted to show the shine on these so shot through the ring this time 👍
Whoa… is that a 3d printed vibratory bowl??? I didn’t think that was possible. The freaking bowls are so expensive it’s almost the same price to just get a new unit. Crazy. If someone could start making tumbler barrels at a decent price they will get a lot of business. Especially now that Lortone apparently is out of business… hopefully someone takes over their tumbler division.
Yes, 3D printed that bowl, I now have a bigger printer and can pretty much match the size of the 10 pounder. It actually seems a bit tougher than the original albeit quite a bit louder 😄
@@paulhardie my printer is too small but wow that would be amazing. What material did you use for the bowl? I guess you could make the walls as thick as you want. The possibilities… I just need a bigger printer lol.
Really nice, pretty colors! I notice you don't put any small ceramic pellets in the final stages? Is it because the ceramics are harder than your rocks?
I think if the filler rocks weren't already rounded they would have caused damage, plus this was a hard batch of Chrysocolla, lots of Quartz and other minerals mixed in 👍
Wow that stuff looks beautiful.... How often do you halfto replace the water on the tile saw since it's constantly recirculated... Also is that a bunch of rolls of vinyl in the background
Yes it is beautiful😃 The water gets pretty murky but after it's been sitting unused for a few days the mud settles to the bottom leaving clear water at the top, the pump sits on top of a brick so doesn't suck up too much mud. Yes rolls of vinyl, I have a signwriting business👍
Awesome results with the chrysocolla!!! You know you are rock fiend when you have buckets/tubs lined up like that outside hahahahahahaha Hey with the borax, can you used that in an initial cleaning process? I've been using citric acid but that can have mixed results
@@paulhardie I clean my rocks when i get home from collecting. Sometimes they have baked on dirt and clay, sometimes they are stained by nearby minerals ie iron
Chrysocolla is a mineral/rock that occurs near Copper deposits all over the world, it's one of my personal favourites ☺when you talk about uses do you mean the metaphysical side ? I use it to make pendants and polished rocks which I sell at local markets but there should be many sites online that sell it 👍

Fabulous rocks!🤩🥰 They look so pretty at the end all in a pile. Wonder how they'd look in a terrarium...🪴🐝

Ahhh, excellent video.
I have some chrysocolla that I'd like to have an experiment with. Beautiful stuff
It really is although it can sometimes be a little soft 😕

So I have tumbled the same rocks and the first thing out of my friends mouth was where did you get the cool fish tank rocks. 😅

I don't use ceramics just filler pieces of the same material left over from the cutting process 👍

I would think that the small rocks you used would be too hard for chrysocolla. Would ceramic media be more gentle?

Hi Paul :) loved the video. Why not fill that empty barrel with something instead of having it go round empty.
A normal person might do something like that 😄 I just didn't have anything cut and ready to go 👍

Do not inhale the stuff coming off the rocks. I caught sarcoidosis from cleaning shells.

I always wear a respirator mask along with ear and eye protection and an apron when cutting rocks.
