  • With this video I show my main videos using Rapid set "cement all" mortar mix, I have had great success with the product as a mason contractor with over 45 years experience and I want to pass on my "old school" ways of doing things with this new product, all my videos are my ways and ideas, I always suggest anyone doing any type of work to consult professional help www.amazon.com/shop/mikehaduck

Wow Mike. Your videos convey so much in short edited clips. You're video style of narrating over short clips is pure genius. A lot of videos ramble on but you get straight to the bare essentials. Thank you so much for sharing your hard earned knowledge with us diy homeowners who can't always afford a master craftsman such as yourself. I know you would be worth every penny though!

Mike, I love watching your videos. I'm a DIY homeowner who has never been afraid to try my hand at something new. I learned to do masonry over 30 years ago partially from my father-in-law, who spent his entire career in the construction industry and partially from reading then doing. I enjoy doing masonry work. There's something very satisfying about it. when I moved into another house I needed to have some block-work done and could not find any local contractor who was interested in small jobs. I was really disgusted so I jumped in there and did it myself. Man I wish we had TH-cam and your videos 25 years ago.

Your videos are the best masonry DIY advice for total newbies! I recommend your videos every chance I get!
I found your videos about 4 years ago when I had to do a few jobs around my house, and I was a total greenhorn intimidated by masonry. Your videos are priceless! You explain everything so well as to the how and the why. Your advice on choices of materials is also great because when you ask a merchant about materials the answer is always that what they have to sell is what you need, not necessarily what is best. BTW, that Cement All you recommend is a unique fantastic product that I've used on several projects, and it is well worth its higher price. Thanks you so much!

Thanks for turning me on to these products. I've been doing so much repair work like you do and different tips, methods and products only makes me a better mason. I love both of these rapid set products now.
The wetting of everything before doesn't just help make it stick, it helps it not dry too quickly and shrink crack. Not drying to quickly helps it cure better and stronger too.

Great video, I learnt lot of great tips. Its great for a DIYer to see a skilled tradesman at work.
I had tried repairing a step earlier in the week, but the box said 3 parts quick set cement to 1 part water so that's what I did exactly. Turns out it was way too soupy, but I didn't realise so ended up just trying to use it.... it didn't turn out too well. After watching your video I've made a new batch, much thicker, chipped away all the mess I made earlier, and now made a nice job of it, Thanks!

Rapid Set stuff is a miracle for sure…..if you recall I asked about SET Control additive last week. This week I jumped on it heavy to learn it all the way. Man, it is as great a miracle as the different Mixes. Wowed me for sure. It is a super fine tune and very easy to get “used to the throttle”. Eliminates the Rapid Set pressure knife time, yet wield its powers with your SET Control. It’s great.

After watching your video, I used the cementall on my patio. My patio in Michigan had a lot of pitting because of all of the salt I used the winter before. It was spalled really bad, with half to 3/4 inch divots. I first filled in the big holes with cementall mixed fairly thick. after that dried, I mixed 5 gallon batches about the thickness of paint. I dumped the bucket on the patio and used a squeegee and spread it like blacktop re-surfaceer. This worked amazingly well. It made my patio look amazing. We will see how it holds up over the winter. What a great product. Boy does it dry fast! Thanks for your videos! Very informative and very useful! I am greatfull for the time you have put in to these great how-to movies!

      Hello Mike,
Thanks for teaching all of us novice, and maybe even some Pros how to get the job done right, and quick.
In this video, you had two different types of cement (mortar mix and cement all mix), but, you didn't mention which product to use for which type of repair project?
Please teach us which product is best to use for which specific type of job(s)?
Also, I notice with some of your repairs you stuffed pieces of brick into the holes first before adding the cement. Were you using those pieces of bricks as support to strengthen the repair, and to stop the cement from falling out, as opposed to using rebar, tapcon screws, or some other type of masonary bolt to hold the cement in place, and to make the repair last longer?
      Thanks in advance.
      AJ
      P.S.
I love the mud blending technique, how to blend the cement with a sponge, as well as the stucco technique with the brush!

Thank you for the clear explanations. I am an older lady who needs to make some home repairs and a simple fance. I think the rapid cement will do the trick! Small quantities are the key words as I am not athletic. I'll start to exercise with the small repair of a wall. The way you did put the cement with your hands on the bricks remainded me the way clay is used.

Hi p, sounds right , I would use traditional cement if you are not in a hurry, I use this brand for fast one day jobs thanks , Mike

@@MikeHaduck thank you for your advise, but traditional cement means a lot of kilos of sand, cement, liters of water. I really like the small quantities, it is fast. I am not athletic at all!

After watching your videos Mike, I'm using a mix of cement all and Portland cement (for graying the cement all) to fix the cracks in my driveway. I've experimented with coloring cement all with a gray color additive and Portland cement to .reduce the whiteness of cement all. The mud paint would work too although I haven't tried it. "No big deal," Thanks for the good, outstanding videos and your desire to teach.

Mike, you are a super mason. Wish I could have hired you. I took your advice, used Mortar Mix [Quick Set]. Filled in & leveled [best I could, piece at a time] the open end & edge chipped blocks. Said blocks make up the threshold for an access door from our garage to the side yard. (Builder, ~40 yrs ago, lowered them by breaking them with a hammer to make the threshold level with garage floor. When I tried replacing the existing rotted oak threshold & door frame, found the damage). It worked out nice, thank you so much. Not as level or as nice as you'd make, but ok for an amateur like me. Thank you so much for the help, Mike. May the Lord Bless you and all your family. tonyd\.

I know this comment is pointless but this is exactly the video i was looking for. I’m currently trying to fix the brick everything in my girlfriends grandmas house. Her grandpa built most of it himself but has passed away a long time ago. A lot of things were unfinished and you are helping me with most of what wasn’t completed. I think what I’m trying to say is mostly everything is made out of brick back in the days lol but thank you!
