    Thanks for watching! The Elantra is a good balance of space, comfort, features, and a sweet warranty....if driving experience is priority for you...that’s one area where it’s lacking compared to others in class. What are your thoughts?

    I Just bought a 2019 Elantra limited this week. Love it!! It’s my 3rd Elantra. Most reliable cars I’ve ever owned. People complaining that it doesn’t act like a race car when they step on the gas shouldn’t be purchasing one of these cars. If you are looking for a great value in a commuter, feature packed and safe vehicle, you can’t go wrong. Also, don’t forget about the amazing warranty Hyundai offers.

      That’s awesome to hear! You’re totally right that they’re a great value. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend one to someone looking in that class. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your new ride! 😁👍

    I bought a 2020 limited yesterday. I love the 30/40 mpg, blue link, leather seats, design and electronic features. I have become a fan of Hyundai.

    I learned something new the other day on my 2019 Elantra Limited. When you turn on your wipers for intermittent rain in the daytime,and leave them on for a while, a few seconds later, your headlights and tail lights automatically come on after the intermittent wipers are turned on! Cool feature! Then, when you turn the wipers off the lights turn off also (daytime).

    Great review! I like how you explain all the different trims which alot of other reviewers don't. Thanks!

  • @22Kevi

    I like the headlights straight off. I never understood why a manufacturer would make you upgrade to a higher trim to get a better breaking system, I don't think people's safety should be gambled with at any price point. I also agree that the styling is a little too much on the sharper side; just seems like it's trying too hard to be sporty. The previous model was still an attractive car, so I wouldn't have take this redesign to this sharp of an angle. I could also see issues with driver's properly seeing the warning lights during the day with that checkered background in the gauges. Overall, I can appreciate Hyundai for trying to keep things fresh but this seem a bit overboard to me.

      @PrimeAutotainment  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good points, especially on safety. I didn’t really think of the warning lights but that’s a great observation. Thanks for watching! 😁

    Great review as always! I really started liking the Elantra since the 5th gen (2011). The 2.0 NA engine to me feels adequate for the size, however I'm sure the Sport trim will definitely be more fun. I know a few people with them that actually modded them and they look SOOO good. I would definitely buy an Elantra. I noticed very good fitment when I drove one.

    The biggest myth that ALL car reviewers love to propagate (looking at you, SavageGeese, et al) is that an independent suspension rides better. Anyone who knows anything about cars and engineering knows THIS IS FALSE. It's all about how manufacturers TUNE the suspension system.
    This isn't a criticism of Prime, since his videos are the best on TH-cam. Rather a criticism of EVERY car reviewer I've seen who knocks cars for not having independent suspensions.

    Nice review. I had a 2012 elantra gls. On January 6th, I was stopped for an oncoming ambulance and was rear-ended by some numbnut doing 50mph. The car was totaled with a bent frame etc, but that car saved my life, I'm sure of it. I was injured , but in a lesser vehicle, I could have been killed. So....I wanted another elantra since it was a nice car. I just got the 2019 elantra value edition. It has a comfortable ride, plenty of features, and is great on gas . Very good care very good value

    I agree with you Nolan. I prefer the look of the older model and I wish Hyundai would have spent the extra $10 and soft touched the door tops. I like all the features they give you and I like the fact you can get the manual on the Sport. Overall, I think I’d go with the corporate twin and grab a new Forte instead of this.

    • @PrimeAutotainment
      @PrimeAutotainment  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No kidding, the soft spot for an armrest is an ice thing to have. And I would also go for the Forte ...haven’t driven it yet but based off what I know!

    Great job on this review! I opted for the 2018 Elantra over the 2019 because I think it's a better looking car and was a lot cheaper after Hyundai rebates, but a lot of your criticisms also apply to the 2018.
    Indeed, the transmission does downshift aggressively as you decelerate to a stop. The transmission's general behavior in Normal mode is rather aggressive and unrefined. It honestly feels like an automated manual transmission to me. Not only are the deceleration downshifts oddly aggressive, but the upshifts on moderate acceleration have a weird pause in power between gear changes, just like when you clutch in to shift gears while accelerating in a manual transmission car. I also find that the transmission gear hops a lot at 30mph and 40mph, speeds that I'm commonly driving in my city. A very herky-jerky around town experience. Of course when I test drove the car, the dealer's test route was on open roads and interstate, so I wasn't aware of the ill-behaved city temperament.
    As for the ride quality, it seems like a decent balance between ride and handling. To me, the suspension feels like it could use more travel though. It's a little stiff and busy to me on fairly smooth pavement.
    The rest of the car is pretty awesome. Excellent seat comfort, ergonomics, and visibility. Material quality and build quality seem really good to me, especially for a sub-$20k economy car. In mixed driving, I'm getting 38-40mpg, depending on AC usage. Cruising at 70mph, the computer regularly shows I average 42mpg.
    If Hyundai would just eliminate the gimmicky Drive Mode Select and instead calibrate the transmission and throttle to be less aggressive, while also responsive, this would be an exceptionally nice driving car.

      Good choice with the 2018..I also like the looks of that better! Glad to hear your experience with it...too bout about the tranny but hopefully it’s a reliable one! Awesome MPGs...love to hear that. Thanks for all the input...I always appreciate it! 👍

    I totally prefer the look of the 2018 over this but I actually really like the look of this car. I might trade my 2013 Elantra limited for a 2019 Elantra limited, or maybe perhaps a sonata limited.

    Hyundai gave the people what they wanted. More Features! They know more than the majority don’t care what the rear has for suspension.I wished they would of matched the Cooled seats like in the Forte

    • @PrimeAutotainment
      @PrimeAutotainment  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s exactly right! They truly offer a lot and it was a great daily car and frugal on gas. I wish it did too...I was surprised it didn’t offer that since Kia did. Thanks for watching Gene 👍

    I like the old one better, but the new one looks OK in black. The trouble is, I don't want a black car because of the heat gain. If you have to run your air conditioner more, it lowers your MPG. The 2020 Corolla is better looking, in my opinion, and it has an independent rear suspension. The Elantra is lower priced. In my neighborhood, you can get an Elantra SE for $14,800. new.

    • @PrimeAutotainment
      @PrimeAutotainment  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I like that one better too. Good point on A/C as well. The new corolla seems nice and impressive overall.

    I own a 2017 Elantra. They have a 2.0 Atkinson cycle variant of the Nu engine. I would stay away. Mine, and according to many reports the dealer told me they get, is they make a loud ticking/tapping noise when cold. It sounds like a diesel. Dealer reported Hyundai said it was normal because the metal shrinks in cold weather. I have never ever had a car do this in cold weather and I have had my fair share of bombs. I bought it used so am only covered up to 60000 miles. I said to Hyundai ok if this is so normal cover my car to the full 10 year 100000 mile warranty. They just keep giving me the run around. I mean if there is no issue with the car it would not cost them anything to give the full powertrain warranty. I have no confidence in the longevity of this engine and unfortunately it looks like they are putting these in more models like the Kona. Also I think these engines are in the Kia Forte and other Kia models.
