Out of all of them, the #Elantra has stood the test of time and to this day, remains the company's best seller overall, selling over 150,000 units for 2018 so far. Love the large trunk and hand break. Blind spot is a great addition. Telescoping steering wheel, yes it seems like a great commuter car to me. Overall exterior design is not all full of crazy angles but I still would like less. I think it's a good car.

Great review. I don't appreciate that Hyundai removed the driver's power seat on all trim levels besides for the top of the line limited trim level.
Nice review, but you didn't mention the seats and seat controls. No lumbar support unless you get the Limited model.
FYI. The Elantra did get the IIHS Top Safety Pick Plus award, but only for models "with optional front crash prevention and specific headlights;
applies only to vehicles built after September 2018." Still and all a nice set of features for the price.

This is a great value car and still people making comments and complaining about nonsense. You can’t even get a used car at this price point anymore. But then there’s “that guy” complaining about cup holders in the rear seat? Who cares??
When are you getting your hands on a sport trim to review?
The rear has not changed at all. My 2017 Value Edition has the cup holders that slide from the center console's rear, because it doesn't have the rear armrest. And those rear cup holders really do hold just about any sized drink well skinny for super fat.

Back end looks great. They did junk up the front. They also junked up the dials with the checked look. They just couldn't leave the clean black background alone.
Solid review! We were looking at a Subaru Impreza but with the CVT problems we can´t chance it and no, the wife wont drive a manual transmission. Looks like we will be going Hyundai.
travisp11 Better hurry and get one quick. The Elantra will switch to CVT in 2020.
Man, dont even tell me that. One of the reasons why we want to trade our Honda is because of the CVT. I wonder about the Sonata, if that will be changing, too?

Thanks for the correction. I recently had the chance to meet the CEO of Hyundai North America and that's how I heard it from him, so can't go wrong there. But again, so many people say it so many different ways these days.
It's actually pronounced hee-un-dai (as in dye)or hyun-dai (as in dye)

Norma Incorrect. Banzai is not a Korean word, so that logic does not apply. 현대 = Hyun-dae, not “Hyun Dai”
I sat in the back of my friend's base Tucson once and those plastic backs on the seats are horrible. I'm tall though.

Can you shift from plus to minus when you are driving or should you only shift when you are in park and should you shift to plus when going down hill or minus
When you say plus and minus, I assume you mean the Shiftronic; that is used as a manual shifter while you're driving.
The gear shifter can only be moved moved to the left into manual mode from the Drive position. As far as speed control when going down a steep hill you would want to shift down (-) to a lower gear. The engine will rev higher and this is so you are not riding your brakes down a mountain. Also, if you are going down an icy hill, it helps tramendously for speed control so you don't pick up a dangerously high speed. The car has 6 gears and it will also auto shift for you in manual mode so you don't forget about it when stopping and stall the car from being in a gear too high for the lower speed's RPMs.

Nope, it's cupholders now. The new Forte has vents on the higher trims. Most compacts don't.

Most of them dont. They either have Daytime Running Lights or LED DRL's/ Fog Lights too.

The design before this one looked way better. Plus Hyundai has joined the CVT trash pack.

Elantra still doesn't have any cvt. As far as I know no Hyundai has any cvt as of yet. Only Kia's switching to cvts.
@@TaijiArban Hyundai does have a CVT for the base Elantra. The sports model does not
@@drewski1441 no they don't. All elantras except the sport and eco trim have a six speed auto. The sport and eco trim have the seven speed dual clutch. Also the sport and base model can be had with a manual as well. I have checked with multiple sources to confirm this including Hyundai's own website(as given by the first person that replied to you). Please do your research before sharing fake information.

I saw one in real life at a cross walk & vomited my lunch all over the hood, i couldn't control it. Everyone was honking their horns & yelling but as soon as i locked eyes with the front of this thing i would just continue to hurl myself over & continue to vomit on the hood of this guys car. He couldn't believe it was happening, nor could i.... so embarrassing.
