and having your first wife suddenly dying again and again as you try to save her by imploring the Grim Reaper, only to realize 20 years later that she died because your guinea pig bite her. I'll never forget. "A Sim who dies from Guinea Pig Disease cannot be successfully resurrected by pleading with the Grim Reaper. Once they are restored to life they will immediately die again.[1] This is because the resurrection code does not clear or reset the Sim's entry in the disease controller object. "
Playing this as a kid, you were hopeful: the adult world is exactly as the Sims where good is good and bad is bad but with a general peaceful atmosphere. You would dream of your own house and how you would decorate it to build the right place for your kids to grow up in. Now it's 2024, I have reached the age of 30 and I have learned that life is not quite like how the Sims portraited it. That was a hard one to swallow but fortunately due to the success of this game a lot of like minded people carry this desire of life in our hearts so at least we're not alone with this feeling
Build mode 2. For some reason it made me cry when I listened to it years after playing The Sims for the last time. I guess those were the better times...
I think the sims formed a lot of our musical preferences listening to the music in build mode. It was my favorite part of the game. I'm in my mid 30's now, and like many others, i played this when i was in middle school when it came out, and through high school. And for as long as i can remember, I've loved instrumental music, especially jazz. I don't know if the creators had any concept of how special this music would be to people.
I remember waking up at dawn in my old house....I was third grade probably. Everybody was asleep and im turning my Windows 98....just that startup sound....and then playing Sims. Beautifull music, atmosphere and graphics....it was like I was in paradise.
I remember turning on my computer before we went on a walk because it took 20min+ to load the game. And sitting in class doodling floor and furniture plans.
I was in high school when I used to play this early Sims. So many memories....My late dad used to sit near me reading his newspaper everyday in the afternoon. He was an an engineer, so he used to comment a lot whenever I'm in the 'building mode'. Then my lil bro will suddenly arrive and annoy me for the hell he can. My dad died in 2005, my lil bro is now a police officer. I work in a financial company but a part time contractor and homer designer...because of the SIMMMMS hahaha.
Thanks for sharing man. I remember spending a whole saturday morning installing all the expansions with a friend that I borrowed from, we would go out and play as it would take ages for every cd to install lol. I was probably 10 or 11 at the time but so into games already. Blessed days!
this is really cool to hear. i was in middle school when i started playing these. i remember cooping up in my room for hours into the night building and playing... i wanted my mom to get me the Hot Date expansion but she refused because it sounded too sexual xD
I remember when I could barely dream of this game because I didn't even have a computer, nowadays I can play anything in maximum quality, however nothing fills and nothing feels as homey as sims did. We don't really know what we have until time passes.
I remember playing this on our living room computer with my lil sister laying on the desk watching and us having to take turns. Honestly one of the best memories I have of us. Happy and together before it all went to shit. Miss you Roo.
Wish I could go back to playing this 5+ hours a day, living the busy lives of my sims because I was too young to have grown-up responsibilities of my own
I remember when my brother and I would play this all the time, and I would watch him play because it was just a nice way to hang out. I'm now 27 and he's 31. How the time flies when you have fun...
I miss how simple the game was. Nowadays it's so rich you need 2 hours of tutorial before you can start 😅 I exagerate of course, but I do miss how simple it used to be.
@@PlasmatronNLFr, I rely on copying and pasting entire rooms on sims 4 and just go with preset houses. All the fun is gone from the one part of the game I used to enjoy the most. Might just go back to sims 3 again, there was a nice balance on that one
I was 10 years old when The Sims came out. I remember I couldn’t play it on my PC, but I could on a cousin’s. The first time I played, I couldn’t believe it-the power to control a person, perform life actions. I loved playing with Legos, building houses, and acting out daily routines with them, and now I could do all of that on the computer. For me, it was the game that impacted me the most when I played it for the first time.
This really feels like my personal Sims experience - I always played the Latin station because it was chill. Also I love the atmosphere of Buy music being upbeat, domestic, and full of excitement decorating with Build music feeling more contemplative. It really set the mood for what you’re doing as you play.
Aw man, the beginning song is so soothing and brilliant - paired with that classic Sims 1 gameplay footage as well! Ah, brought a smile to my face, brilliant stuff 😆😄👌 haha. Thanks for making this video as well! 😄
Definitely one of the best game serieses ever. I remember when my sister introduced me to this game when I was 7 or earlier. My favorite part of "The Sims'' games was always making characters, as well as getting new pets and even listening to the songs in the games. Basically, I think the series popularized simulators worldwide, didn't it?
I remember buying The Sims 1 and some of the expansion packs back in 2012. I was in high school at the time and my All-in-One HP Desktop couldn't run Sims 3 well. The music left such a mark on my music taste.
5:23 To this day I have never heard a saxophone sound so good... thanks to this game today I am a fan of jazz instead of listening to the garbage that everyone listens to.
I remember the first time I played this game: I went to my friend's house for a sleepover in middle school. We played for HOURS on their family computer and I was sucked in and I knew I had to have it. I bought it for myself and would sneak out of my bed in the middle of the night to play because I loved it so much. I would hear my parents coming into the den and slam the computer off, run over to the couch and pretend I had fallen asleep on the couch.
My first memory of this game was my uncle who brought it to show us. I can still see the super basic floor plan he made, perfect rectangle with 2 beds and a bath in one corner. There lived the Ham family. The son I can’t remember his name but the mom was Honey, and the dad was Black Forest. What a time
What genre of music are the Neighborhood songs, you ask ? Bossa Nova! (Brazilian style jazz) Hence the titles "Latin radio" Enjoy it. I love bossa nova. And yes, this game has one of the best soundtracks ever.
I just remembered how one of my sims passed away. Via electrocution. Also, I never had my pet dog bring me the newspaper everyday. However, my brother's dog did that .
It's kind of crazy how many animations and interactions and SFX clips from the Original release got dummied out or removed in the later expansion packs.
Those were the days when you could still borrow audioplays on cassette from the library, when j.k. rowling charmed us with her beautiful wizard adventure of Harry Potter and you could still buy cigarettes from a vending machine... What a great time ❤
oh to be a kid in 2000 playing this game for the first time again...
I remember buying the game at the mall. It was 2001... The good old days.
😭😭😭
oh man yesss

if life was like the sims 1 or 2 we would be already dead
@user-nl9mq1ey7daffordable? It was impossible to buy aanything in the sims 1 🥲
speak for yourself
speak for yourself lmao
Think of it this way: at least we don't get visited by a creepy clown when we're sad.
Best music of all The Sims games in my opinion. Very nostalgic. I really do miss the first Sims.
What about Sims 2: Nightlife? :)
No
The music is an absolute masterpiece
There was so much class in sims 1 ost
100%. This is one of those crazy examples of music in games that's just pure genius regardless of the context.
ROSEBUD!;!;!;!;!;!
take the stairs out from the pool.
Klapausius in this case, from all of the rest sims expansions yes is Rosebud

This is my safe place when I can't think anymore at the office. Thank you
you and me both!!
Same!
Some for me, except when the melancholy music kicks in at around 40 minutes and I have to pause and overthink my life choices
A simpler times, slow gameplay, relaxing. Brings back only good memories :)
How was Sims 1 relaxing?!? I remember it being by far the hardest Sims.
@@dschehutinefer5627 Because we didn’t have simple versions to compare it to
@dschehutinefer5627 There is absolutely no pressure in the game. You can't lose. Just build and let them live out their lives.
I respect your avatar choice
@@AFMusiqueno pressure?? 😂😂 Except when a fire breaks out and no one wants to leave! But it was the greatest time of my life, for sure
Build mode 2. For some reason it made me cry when I listened to it years after playing The Sims for the last time. I guess those were the better times...
i think this one is what subconsciously has made me really enjoy pianists like tigran hamasyan years later. amazing tune, especially for a game OST

Sims 1 is so good. The music is honestly my favorite in the whole franchise.
I don't think I've had a bigger wave of nostalgia than this.

There is still something insanely special about this game
It was pure magic. I am so happy I have experienced the birth of gaming. I dont need anything else. Gaming is todays art. Only love.
god i love it when the youtube algorithm is blessing me, what a walk down memory lane.
This is disgustingly cozy and nostalgic.
Bittersweet indeed
I wish they kept the realistic aesthetics and the new age/jazz songs in the latest games.
Nothing ages better than good music. Best way to transport you back in time.
Wish I could go back to playing this 5+ hours a day, living the busy lives of my sims because I was too young to have grown-up responsibilities of my own
Taking care of Bob was one the hardest things I've done in a game
6:25 this one my ultimate favorite
TS2 may be my favorite game but TS1 soundtrack is the best
same for me, to the point my friends make fun of how much I like it. Its a banger
So much nostalgia, i miss it being this simple and not loads of extra stuff. This and sims 2 were the best out of them all.
this game touched my heart in a way no other game ever did. i'm now 34 and i can feel that nostalgic feeling in my heart again...

not so simple. there are a lot of unobvious mechanics inside
This is the main problem with videogames at this point in time.

Yeah, it was simple and enjoyable
And it's a forced tutorial these days! You must complete its stupid micro transaction to continue.
"You should only call the police when there is an actual emergency!"
"But... but my microwave..."
I like how you can have 10 Sims trapped in a pool doomed to drown and the cops don't give a shit lol
Jeez, now I’m gonna cry lol! I can’t believe it’s been over 20 years since I first played this, wish time could slow down…
May the universe bless you for this video.
Thanks to my parents for gifting me this game when I was a kid !

The BEST sims soundtrack was Sims 1 ❤ thanks for uploading wow

The nostalgia hits hard.
This video gives great, nostalgic feelings, and the game is still playable. I still have the original big box in the shelf.
The sims one was the second millennium’s pc-game-bestseller 😍
