    I'd love to see a "Second look: After playing a lot of games review" of this game and Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game. These walkthroughs are good and all, but I'd love to hear opinions. Why is M:CP a good game, where does it shine, what are the not so good things.

    with the measuring, usually it comes out to a pretty normal distance when you add a base into it. IE measuring from front of base to front of base.

    • @mrhuettel
      @mrhuettel 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      or rather, if you measure the insides of the movement tools. that's when you get the expected 3, 5 and 7 inches.

  • @13Robzilla
    @13Robzilla 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I believe the movement sticks are indeed 3, 5 and 7 inches, but you have to use the bevel on both sides. If you measure from the middle of the curve to middle of curve accounting for the round base it is actually just inches nothing proprietary other than using it instead of a ruler.

    looking at the movement sticks they are front of base to back of base so it incorperates the length of the base too. so that means bigger base minis move further for the same move range. that may be why they are non standard by the looks of it.

      @@colinpritchard2067 Much to the fact they went from metal to a crappy resin formula (also, the true size minis are too thin at ankles, wrists, etc and break too easily). The stats changed too much from 1st to 2nd ed, which they barely told the retailers they were doing, which then invalidated much of the stores stock (old cards). Now they are moving on to third edition which appears to have the same stats change issues AND their new releases now keep packing new models with old ones that players already own or at price points that are way to high (you can buy them separate cheaper). They just plain suck at communication and doing anything to help retailers and their customer service is DREADFUL!

    40:00 Small correction, after reading the rules, Captain Marvel's passive works during BEAM attacks, not during ENERGY attacks, which is a special type of attack that uses the attack ruler as a 'beam' , as shown by the picture of the Hulk, as you did that. @@kaibe5241 Batman Miniatures Game. It's been out for about 10 years now and on its 3rd edition. You play a crew (Riddler, Joker, Militia, etc) and have about 5 to 10 models each. It's all street level DC (Green Arrow types) and ties in TV and movies as well as comics.
      The DC Universe Miniatures Game.is a spin off variety, all powered heroes and villains (Superman, Black Adam, etc).
      Before Crisi Protocol, Knight Model had the Marvel miniature game. They were a company known for its quality models, and then they built a game. Roll forward 10 years... we have Crisis Protocol.

    @ZeeLobby 5 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    Man, if only this came out 5 years ago, lol. I'm just super heroed out at this point. Kinda like the GoT game, or even Star Wars Legion. The me of 5 years ago would have jumped at any of those. Now... Eh. It'd be interesting to learn more about the IP licensing process for these games, or how/when/why they decide now is the time.

    • @patrickweaver3405
      @patrickweaver3405 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think the reason for "why now" is Asmodee has exploded in size in the past 5 years. They have had/are having great success with the Star Wars license (also owned by the Mouse) and now has the money, a great track record, etc and likely can now afford the Marvel License (the most expensive out there), possibly at a discount from the Mouse due to the success they have with Star Wars. Their original SW license only encompassed the original trilogy and the new movies. The prequels were not in it. The release of the Clone Wars for Xwing and Legion minis shows they must have expanded/re-negotiated the license.

      @@patrickweaver3405 true. But I feel like asmodee has been a power house for years. Post avengers endgame just seems late. I mean it's not like marvel hasn't been a hot IP for a decade. But without talking to them we'll probably not really knowm

    43:30 Counterpoint: Superhero miniatures games are not all tied to big licensed IPs. Four-Color Figures' Supersystem rules have been through multiple editions for around 20 years now, and Pulp City has been around almost that long. There are many "generic" supers figs on the market from manufacturers like Old Glory, Crossover Miniatures, and Reaper, to name a few. None of them are paying licensing fees, many are downright bargains, and nost "independent" rules systems let you design your own characters so you can even play with your Marvel/DC/whatever supers if that's what you want to do. You could even use the Crisis Protocol figs. And as an extra plus, all the other rule sets use tape measures instead of proprietary gimmicks. :)

      Definitely apples and oranges. Getting minis in heroclix is basically like buying a pack of magic cards, blind boxes/ ever-expanding collection. Crisis Protocol is more like Warhammer, you grab the 10 models you want in your army, paint them up, and you're good to go until (or if) your affiliation gets support
