Small word of advice (I guess for anyone deciding to play this game after it, since I don't assume Jirard wants to pick it back up): when you use the D-Pad to shape your shot, that doesn't do anything unless you hold the Analog Stick to that impact point after you start your swing. Several times throughout the video, you can see that the impact preview has changed, but the red filled circle is where you're actually hitting the ball; every shot throughout the entire video was a regular, un-shaped shot. I think Jirard still needs help even if he completes a game 100% when he knows very well there's no reward at the end, specially if he has to spend more than 100 hours in a game.
I feel like Jirard's completion rating is a bit ineffective, because the conclusion was that a regular completion run is fun, but not the true 100% with tbe score card thing. Me I would call that a "Complete it", but getting the entire score card would be a "Complete it plus" Same when games have dumb, unnecessary achievements. Getting everything in the game = "Complete it". Getting everything + all achievements: "Complete it plus" Just seems that it's hard to go overboard with the criteria and then admitting that a regular completion run would've been worth it instead.
Thank God, I loved Mario Golf but this one felt so much different... Tried to play multi player with my MG64 friends and they all hated it. I had some fun but it was definitely weird.
That new completionist into is incredibly bad ass!! I love it and gets my hype, snd its no wonder part of the arrangement for it is from Grant kirkhope! AMAZING job jirard the finishist lol
See, I remember wanting to complete Mario Tennis at one time But then I quickly realized the required time sink to do that alone just wasn't worth it, and have since been under the same exact impression that all Mario sport games would be like that; requiring you to do playthroughs with every character and their improved versions separately So seeing this for golf doesn't surprise me at all
Looking at this, they flubbed with the new mario golf. There’s barely any character animations for the shots, which was something i was really looking forward to. In addition, Diddy Kong is not a playable character in Super Rush. Hopefully they can add him as dlc.
I remember borrowing this game from a reletive,it was my 1st (& last) time playing a mario themed sports game.i tried playing up to only unlocking the secret characters,i got bored w/it after a week
So many shots without actually using the impact point... move that control stick during the shot my friend!! Also, we needed the mention of the infamous Ace CPUs, which play -22 or better on every round of golf.
Hmm, did you fill out your highlights? If not, I wouldn't say you have truly 100% completed it. You probably filled out your Best Badges, but you didn't show that either. Also, you completely forgot to explain the Ace CPU difficulty! In the NTSC version, it's unlocked after you complete all Star Tournaments with all Mario characters (doesn't matter if they are star or unstar). In the Japanese and PAL versions, you just need to beat Bowser's character match.
ive been wondering forever if you would ever play this, and especially of you would legit finish everything (did not think you would) congratulations man! great video! you didnt bring up the hole in one challange tho lol
Please tell me you eventually found out that the marker on the golf ball before you hit your shot needs you to position your control stick to actually further control how your ball flies.
Oh boy. I 100%'d this as a kid. Every thing, every character, all of it. Thing is, I did that over the course of a year or two, dad and I put a ton into this game. Him doing that on a time crunch?...yeah, can't blame the breakdown. I love the game, adored it, but this is definitely a "Play it/Finish it" game.
I loved this game, and I'm enjoying Super Rush so far... but Advance Tour on the GBA is my number 1, was totally addicted in 2004 and I don't think they have done the golf RPG thing quite as well since.
As one who likes golf both in video game form an IRL, I gotta say Topshot Golf is a great place to go if you want to just hit balls on a fancy driving range with your friends, get some drinks and food and just have a good time. Less retirement village and more, Dave and Busters without your drunk uncle Eddy trying to teach you about a game you've been playing most of your life then passing out next to the ticket counter.
I think look what speedrunners believe to be 100% is a very good metric to completion. I already look at myself with shame for games with 300+- hours, more than that, I can't imagine. Take care of yourself Jirard, you deserve it
Apart from the missed opportunity at 24:00 to say it like Luigi does, this video was phenomenal! Thanks for the sacrificed time and sanity. I wasn't in vain
In this case, not even Mario could interest me in a golf game. Toadstool Tour is one of the game rentals that I regretted almost immediately. We also owned the Game Boy version of Mario Golf, but it was my brother who actually made progress in its adventure mode.
Ohhh Jirard, I feel you sooo much about the putting. But worse is, in titles after your not allowed to restart a Hole anymore, you HAVE TO start over from scratch. You have to get Gold and if you so happen to screw abot with small things. Slap, Punch, Kick in the Balls start from Hole 1 again.

Man this makes me want to see him complete Shadow the Hedgehog for how insane it is to complete
I played Super Rush a bit. Jirard, I got bad news... Diddy Kong was left out...
Animations are lazy compared to the old ones and you have zero control of how you shoot the golf ball.
I think Jirard still needs help even if he completes a game 100% when he knows very well there's no reward at the end, specially if he has to spend more than 100 hours in a game.
The irony of that title...you couldn't make this stuff up. 😂
Getting everything + all achievements: "Complete it plus"
Just seems that it's hard to go overboard with the criteria and then admitting that a regular completion run would've been worth it instead.
Have some of my fondest memories with my brother playing this game. The series is one of my all time favorites, and this is the best one of them.
Holy cow. I remember trying to complete this game when I was 11. When I figured out how much it would take, I gave up. Hats off to you man.
Jirard wanted an easy game to beat but ended up with a challenge similar to binding of Isaac
I remember I completed this game with my mom as a kid. Thank you Jirad for bringing this game back to light.
YES; HGS3 and this game were my childhood
Thank God, I loved Mario Golf but this one felt so much different... Tried to play multi player with my MG64 friends and they all hated it. I had some fun but it was definitely weird.
That new completionist into is incredibly bad ass!! I love it and gets my hype, snd its no wonder part of the arrangement for it is from Grant kirkhope! AMAZING job jirard the finishist lol
See, I remember wanting to complete Mario Tennis at one time
But then I quickly realized the required time sink to do that alone just wasn't worth it, and have since been under the same exact impression that all Mario sport games would be like that; requiring you to do playthroughs with every character and their improved versions separately
So seeing this for golf doesn't surprise me at all
Looking at this, they flubbed with the new mario golf. There’s barely any character animations for the shots, which was something i was really looking forward to. In addition, Diddy Kong is not a playable character in Super Rush. Hopefully they can add him as dlc.
Prob not downloadable content. But post launch content implies he will be added.
I remember spamming the heck ton of the insults to my siblings when we played
Yeah, but what about during the game?
Hot Shot Golf (later renamed as the name "Everybody's Golf") was the shit. The only game I could school my dad at. Some fond memories.
I loved that beginning section, best part of the video.
Starts off with the Netherlands and me being Dutch confused and tempted to respond with “gekoloniseerd”
I'm still waiting on Mario Disc Golf
I remember borrowing this game from a reletive,it was my 1st (& last) time playing a mario themed sports game.i tried playing up to only unlocking the secret characters,i got bored w/it after a week
So many shots without actually using the impact point... move that control stick during the shot my friend!! Also, we needed the mention of the infamous Ace CPUs, which play -22 or better on every round of golf.
I really love of 75% of this seems like he's going to love up but then right near the end he lets it loose.
I gotta say, the new intro is AWESOME
I loved this game. I also linked it with Mario Golf: Advance Tour to unlock all the special clubs.
"of having to fly through rings..."
Say it.
"in Mario 64."
Oh come on you were totally laughing because you were about to say Superman. ;3
"Mario.....F***ING GOLF! UGH!!" Hahahaha favorite line ever from the completionist 🤣🤣🤣
Jirard I appreciate your production value so much! You're my favorite youtuber by far!!!
Please tell me you eventually found out that the marker on the golf ball before you hit your shot needs you to position your control stick to actually further control how your ball flies.
The Carnival Mini Golf game that is at the beginning was one that I used to love!!
I put wayyyyy too many hours into this game easily my favorite golf game I’ve ever played!
I think look what speedrunners believe to be 100% is a very good metric to completion. I already look at myself with shame for games with 300+- hours, more than that, I can't imagine.
Take care of yourself Jirard, you deserve it
The first Golf game you have shown is awesome i always play it with my Grandma on the wii
This was an eye-opener to me in many ways. I would recommend not thinking too much about this game in the future, for your health.
Great review 👍
I have many memories playing Mario Golf for the GameBoy Color, its amazing how addictive a sport like golf could become on older consoles.
I enjoy golf. Find the right people who have a similar mentality about the sport and it becomes more fun.
my big sisters friend works at macdonalds and she says u get free burgers from macdoanlds wen u work at macdonalds
I’m not good at golf and can’t watch it on tv. I can however, recommend watching the pga. Alcohol and that fresh grass smell. Magnifico!
I love the completionist and his team. They make great videos. Though this was the video I realized he doesn’t truly complete every single. I just do not believe he spent nearly 400 hours playing this game
