Im about to be 40 been doing asphalt paving last 15 years and absolutely sick of it just got my barber license 2 years ago and just decided to take the leap of faith a couple days ago and went to a shop full time. Im ngl im struggling a lil but the owners are extremely cool and helpful. Very humbling experience
I’ve been cutting a year and in the shop now bro. I’m 31. Never cut before. I feel like I’m getting way better, but I do take 45 to an hour because I want to get as good as I can because I feel like I’m down 10 years. I’m booked 3 to 4 days a week so far, but only 8 cuts a day I do feel like I’m leaving money on the table, but I don’t find 30 minutes fulfilling. My goal is to become elite first (not sure how long that will take), but I do know I’ll miss out on money until then.
So true. I went to a celebrity barber and he gave me a really great cut. I would tip him $60 on top of the $120 fee. However, the professionalism wasn’t there. He canceled my appointment the day of to go to Reno to cut someone of a higher status. The barber I go to now has exceptional service + his cuts are very clean-but he’s no celebrity barber. Goes to show how that human connection and the quality of the service is just as important as the skills.
For sure needed this. I’ve noticed that most people love the conversation and environment. We’re not just barbers. We are damn near therapists and someone to talk to while providing a quality haircut!
Great advice because I was beating myself up even though my clients were satisfied with the haircut ! I’m just a perfectionist and very detailed . Great channel over all !
Thanks Dre. You’re Vida have helped me a lot. I’m about two months in at my first barbershop. It’s walk in city. And a very reputable barbershop in my city. Typically this shop requires at least two years behind a chair but I was lucky enough to get a job outside of school. Another thing I would say is to new barbers is to humble yourself and take constructive criticism with grace. God is good.
Damn this video gave me a whole new perspective on how i look when i cut my hair because i try my best but it doesnt always come out to how i want it to be, but then again it is harder cutting your own hair. Thank you for this video you, made me realize a whole lot 😊
Can someone with their license who has never cut someone before , be successful going into a shop ? Not immediately but can it work out. Did other barbers help you when u started in a shop ?
appreciate all the advice and this comment section is inspiring, i’m 21 and i wanna start cutting hair my goal is to become a full time barber and make 6 figures
I think a haircut should only take seven minutes. We used to have a place called "Cut 6". We'd joke that they only made six cuts to do the haircut. But seriously, the hairdressers didn't take long.
Yo bro a barber from Australia here anyway I can get ahold of some stylecraft instincts we don’t get them this side of the ditch n thought I’d try my lucky through you anyway love the content big man 🫡
