    Finally a kayak specific mod that won’t kill the bank with tools I have and materials I don’t need. Thanks a lot

    Yes I did the same idea but I wrapped the bottom frame with a pool noddle then secured it down and that pool noodle halos to raise the seat and seat it back farther in the kayak and gives you even a softer seat ride !! Seat feels great after 8 hours of fishing !!!

    I took his idea a step further. I installed 1 inch pad eyes on the deck inside of the frame rail and removed the drop down bleacher hook. I installed a long bolt in place of the bleacher hook. Run the strap over the rail, through the deck mounted pad eye, over the bolt , down through the other pad eye and over the rail into the buckle. Snug it down and there is NO flop or rock back at all. It stays PUT. Install and remove in seconds. Hats off to the guy with the original idea !

      @@dtexican1761 Okay, I didnt make a video of the install, but I did take pictures. If I can figure out how to post them, I will. It will help you visualize
      where the pad eyes and bolt are. I had to use a die to lengthen the treads on the bolt as the shaft wasnt threaded enough. several nuts and washers
      are needed to fix it in place. That replaces the drop down bleacher hook, and allows for downward torquing to the seat to prevent any rock back when the
      strap is run over it. I dont see any way to post pictures, so please advise how to, if you want me to post them.

    Nice job! I'm trying to modify a tandem kayak for just me paddling and a dog in front. The twenty year old seat is not that comfortable (especially after three hours on the SF Bay yesterday!). I'm trying to take some ideas from a number of videos to incorporate into my own kayak seat configuration.
    Just one question; why the 1 1/2" screws? Couldn't you use something else half that size?

    • @cartsquads47
      @cartsquads47  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks. I went with the longer screws just to make sure they would be long enough. The kayak has plenty enough room inside for the extra length. I'd rather be to long than to short.

  • @mikep3322

    You DONT have to remove that small wood piece from lower back rest. Just put a pool noddle over it. Fished for 6.5 hours with no pain

    • @cartsquads47
      @cartsquads47  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cool, I put padding over mine as well but I opted to take that peice of wood off just to have an even surface all the way across.

    Did this effect the stability at all? I have the pelican motion 100x angler. I replaced the seat with a more comfortable one but I’m curious about the stadium seats. I had read that they can throw the stability off tho so I just bought a replacement seat with a higher back

    • @cartsquads47
      @cartsquads47  ปีที่แล้ว

      No it didn't effect the stability at all, it still sits nice and low down on the kayak like the original one does.

  • @earlvispreslove2267

    quick question, instead of using screws to reattach the strap, couldn't I just put new ribbits in? I bought the same kayak and watched a few tutorials on upgrading the seat and this is by far the best i've seen. also gonna upgrade the paddle holder as well. what you have seems to hold better than the bungee on the side.

    • @cartsquads47

      They are Rivets, use a small center punch and lightly hit it with a hammer, theyll come right off. You can also drill the center of the rivet out.

    • @cartsquads47
      @cartsquads47  ปีที่แล้ว

      I used a felt from the hobby store. It's sticky on the back and you just cut the size you need and stick it on over the holes. No water goes through it either due to the glue on the back side of it.
