    Thanks for the video. I have a kayak like yours. I have been thinking about a seat modification. Yours gave me a great idea.

    My pelican has the same kind of seat. And I’ve been wanting to get a fishing seat. So thank u so much for sharing. Gonna have to try it out

    I like the zip ties idea. I have done something similar with kayak roof rack straps.

    Yeah , the lifetime seat parts are terrible. I’ve seen a lot of people have there seats break because of that junky grey plastic piece. Great video .

      yeah I've noticed that on them... They seem to breakdown with the sun and uv rays... Plus i like being able to set up a little higher....

    Does the seat up taller make the kayak more unstable?

    Great video! Question...the Ozark Trail chair in the video looks different than the one in the link. In the video, the chair has a padded seat and a curved back. Do you by chance have the bar code number you could send me because that chair in the video looks super comfortable. Thanks in advance!

      Unfortunately I do not.... I checked on the seat on the kayak and can not find any info on it.... As far as packaging goes that was disposed of long ago... I will continue to research it and will reply back to update you with any info I may find....Thanks for Watching!!!!

    How did you re-enforce the weak plastic where the new seat mounts are? THat area is unsupported and not designed to support your weight especially as you shift around. DId you use spay-in closed cell foam? Wood?

    • @kentuckycampingcouple
      @kentuckycampingcouple  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I did not support those areas at all with anything... so far the zipties have held the seat really secure and the plastic where the legs for the seat set at appears to be very durable... I am about 220lbs and I've flopped down in the seat, flipped the kayak, lifted by the seat, I even use my brush gripper anchor on the seat... I cannot tell any signs of the plastic in those areas even starting to deform or fail.... Thanks For Watching!!!

    • @bdiax
      @bdiax 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You’d be surprised just how thick the plastic is all around will definitely hold and not show any give. Plus that area is right near the original seat so it has to be able to hold the weight of the person anyways

    Any ideas on being able to remove the seat for transport other than cutting and replacing the zip ties after each trip?

    • @kentuckycampingcouple
      @kentuckycampingcouple  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is about the only way to do it but on my trailer and in the back of my truck I turn them front to rear and have bungies that i put on the seats to hold them closed.... has worked for me and I have not had to remove them.... Thanks For Watching!!!!!

      Could probably get velcro strips to wrap around instead if you still wanted to take the seat on and off.

    How did you get that cupholder to stay put? I don’t want to permanently mount it but there was too much space at the bottom for velcro to work

    • @kentuckycampingcouple
      @kentuckycampingcouple  ปีที่แล้ว

      Just used a small piece of wood cut in a circle with velcro GLUED to both sides and then velcro glued to the cup holder and kayak... basically the wood was just a spacer....

  • @Manuel_Z_Kayaks
    @Manuel_Z_Kayaks ปีที่แล้ว +1

    DO NOT RAISE YOUR KAYAK SEAT IN SMALL OR NARROW KAYAKS!!
    You're doing a great job "installing" but you need to watch videos of people using their kayaks with elevated seats... there aren't many and those you do see are big wide kayaks.
    I learned the hard way and it cost me over $1k in electronics and gear.
    If you're determined to raise your seat...
    LEASH EVERYTHING IN YOUR KAYAK!
    PUT A COUPLE OF MARKER BOUEYS LOOSE IN YOUR KAYAK TO MARK WHERE ALL YOUR STUFF SANK TO.
    These are not jokes!
    I JUST WENT TO YOUR CHANNEL AND THERE IS NO "ON THE WATER" DEMO OF THIS MOD...

    • @kentuckycampingcouple
      @kentuckycampingcouple  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I understand that you probably had a bad experience... I have also had that bad experience it was no fault of the seats it was my own fault... That happened when I flipped my kayak in the Rockcastle River we lost a GoPro and a fishing pole and most of our bait for that day. That being said I did manage to finish the rest of the trip and the video "Kayaking on Rockcastle River" also you can look at "Kayaking on Cedar Creek Lake" both those videos show the seats on The kayaks and us using them.... What better way to test them out then to actually take them out and do some fishing and have some fun.... It is true I do not recommend standing in this particular kayak because it is not balanced for standing in..... We have not had an issue with them over the seats...... I do thank you for watching the video and your comment and I will watch other videos on this topic... That being said I won't remove the seats from our kayaks because they do help out especially when someone has lower back pain and can't do the cheap seats that are on there..... Plus it is a cheap alternative to someone who can't afford to go out and spend big bucks on a nice kayak set up like that I'm trying to be budget friendly on our channel..... But once again in all sincerity Thank you for Watching!!!!!

      i agree with you. its dangerous stuff,,these people just want viewers..trying to make a quick buck..plus you throw off the angle of the paddle which makes you do more work

    • @kentuckycampingcouple
      @kentuckycampingcouple  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not trying to make millions off you tube.... A lot of people like this modification, and if your not careless it will work out just fine... As i stated in previous comments i use my kayak in still to calm water and don't use it standing, also always wear my life jacket.... I personally have not had any problems with it paddling or otherwise.... On a different note I do enjoy the viewers and their reactions but You Tube has not paid me a single dime, nor has any sponser... Everything on this channel has been done with our money... If one of my fixes won't work for you then don't do it... But anyways Thanks for Watching!!!!
