    Thanks man, I have an 07 outback and you are absolutely correct, I did the same thing action for action, made me laugh so damn hard, I've been fighting with this clutch due months now, haven't been using the c-clamp, now I know. Bout to get into another Master/Slave milking session here in a minute.

    Thanks! Helped guide me through bleeding (or milking lol) my WRX clutch. Dissapointingly no noticeable difference in operation afterwards but still nice to know it's been done. A lot of bubbles came out :D

    • @chasingsnails
      @chasingsnails  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Ollie1772 I also had the same experience. As I turned out the cause of the heavy clutch was too little grease on the throw out bearing when I replaced the clutch. Live and lean.

    • @Ollie1772
      @Ollie1772 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Chasing Snails Here's to trying :D I can feel vibration through the clutch pedal since bleeding when the pedal is depressed a cm or 2 only when revving or on load, not sure if that's throw out bearing or just the straight piped sports exhaust cos I felt similar thing on brake pedal since bleeding, any ideas?

    ..... SO that's why the pedal is stuck on the floor. Well.. I'm goign overboard because I think it's the right thing to do and I'm replacing both cylinders and the clutch line. Of course my pedal hit the floor just like that while I was driving through a construction zone. Glad the guys in the high vis vests saw I was having trouble and pushed me out of the way. I'll be doing all this on the side of the road in front of some strangers house today. hooooray!

    I have a 1999 Subaru legacy Outback, I changed out the clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder, and bled it. But I'm still having my clutch pedal stick. It only seems to happen in first and second gear and the stick seems to get stuck every once in a while usually in first and second gear. Sometimes I have to cut the engine just so I can get the stick unstuck. I've also noticed that when the car is off, the clutch pedal feels fine and never sticks only when i'm driving.

    Where do you bleed the line from the clutch master cylinder or salve ?

    • @chasingsnails
      @chasingsnails  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Devindra Ramdihal from the nipple shaped valve on the slave cylinder. That way you will bleed the entire system.

    having trouble after initial bleeding. can't build up pressure. how many pumps?

    • @chasingsnails
      @chasingsnails  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      make sure you have closed the bleed valve nipple on the slave cylinder, the fluid is topped up in the master cylinder and that you have a clamp on the end of the slave cylinder. Then try pumping the pedal, it should feel pretty hard to push down. If it is still spongy, let some more fluid out until you have a nice clear flow without bubbles and test it again. Good luck.

  • @alejandromartinez6898
    @alejandromartinez6898 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    I can bleed the slave initially but it doesn't seem like the slave can draw from the master. any tips?

    • @chasingsnails
      @chasingsnails  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      that is strange. Make sure that there isn't any dirt or anything that is blocking the lines.

  • @alitoroganan2442
    @alitoroganan2442 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    sorry but, once o have clamped the slave, do i open the bleeder valve and start pumping the clutch? or pump then open brotha for the stupid question and would this work on a pull clutch, thanks

    • @chasingsnails
      @chasingsnails  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      pump with the bleeder valve CLOSED, then open the valve to bleed the line

    • @alitoroganan2442
      @alitoroganan2442 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chasingsnails once i have clamped the slave and the valve still closed, the clutch pedal is stiff and wont move, this is a pull type clutch though.. so what i did is i open the bleeder valve and pushed the piston inside the slave and squirted out the fluid then clamped it,. then bleed it like a brake system .. i hope i dont get any air in the system

    • @chasingsnails
      @chasingsnails  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@alitoroganan2442 if the clutch pedal feels good (not soft and squishy) and your clutch is engaging properly, you should be fine.

    • @chasingsnails
      @chasingsnails  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't used one. But if it moves the new fluid through without bubbles, you should be good.

  • @machdw650
    @machdw650 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    I don't understand the c clamp to hold the slave in place. The slave is bolted to the block and doesn't move so why do this?

    • @chasingsnails
      @chasingsnails  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The purpose of the slave cylinder is to move the fork that moves the throwout bearing. When bleeding the clutch, that fork doesn't give a lot of resistance. So, unbolting the slave from the transmission and clamping it with a C clamp helps give more resistance and also easier to bleed the clutch.
