I have a 2016 STI. I just added a radiator, AOS, cylinder 4 cooler, pitch mount, pitch brace with stainless steel clutch hose. When I finished installing the stainless steel clutch hose, I noticed the clutch pedal stuck on the floor (no one pressed it). I figured it would be bubbles but after bleeding the clutch slave, clutch pedal still would not go back to normal. I noticed there were a small leak on the clutch master so I replaced it and bled the clutch slave again until no more bubbles yet the clutch pedal still would not go back up by itself. I decided to replace the clutch slave and bled it again until no more bubbles. Still the same, the clutch would not go back up by itself. Oh and on top of that the clutch would not go in any gear when the car is on. I was able to put it in any gear when its off. So I tried to put it in 1st gear and turn on the car, now the car wont turn on, the clutch wont go in neutral and the clutch pedal still sticks to the floor. Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.
Dang dude, that white in the bay looks crisp. Nice car! I have bled my clutch like a billion times and its super annoying but I guess I will head back out for night 2 haha, thanks!
Did this method actually work? The nipple on the slave is not the highest point when bolted down to the trans and could still have air trapped (even if you're bleeding it countless times). I need to do mine, but I think I am going to remove the slave to angle it so the nipple is the highest point for a proper bleed. Let me know!
is the rod on the slave supposed to move around at all???? my pedal just hit floor on freeway and I pulled intercooler off checked master where I see everyone else's leaking and no fluid but the slave had some visible leakage at the boot and the rod moves around a lot it actually came off when I pulled just a little
First off, great video, beautiful garage, car, and build. Now I have a question…Been looking for an answer to this one. Still scratching my head. I had swapped my transmission with a brand new one and an act clutch. Its still less than 1,00 miles, but I doubt it’s a break in related issue. I don’t want to call the shop just yet. Here’s my problem… for some reason the catch point is about 70% up from depressing after it hits the floor. It makes the car super hard to drive and very easy to stall. Then I realized when I’m on a hill and engaging thag very small clutch grab point area, it sounds like the flywheel (or something else even) is grinding trying to catch up with the rest of the powertrain. Im going to try and bleed the clutch today, but I’m just out of ideas. For some reason I think it may have something to do with the hill assist and my tune. I’m not great with that, so I’d have to ask. Anyway, any ideas would help.
Thank you! It sounds like the clutch needs a good bleeding. Ended up having to do a bench bleed on it since this method just wasn’t cutting it. I bet you once you get it bled properly, it will feel much better.
@@Autofreakgarage Thanks bro! Definitely going to try it out this weekend if I have some time. By the way, what is a bench bleed? Haven’t heard of that.
@@Autofreakgarage oh snap. Never done that before. I just looked up a vid and can see how it’s done. Will definitely be giving that a go. Thanks again. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
A little bit of a stupid question but since the brake and clutch reservoir use the same DOT fluid. When you drain the brake fluid you have to also bleed the clutch? Or are they separate?
I did the same thing but i would tell my wife to press it once and i would open the bleeder valve i did not want to press it to much and let air into the cylinder do you like the feel of the line is not that Noticeable only at the mid end
So slightly off topic question but still clutch related. I threw on some faction fan coilovers and the car is super low. I also changed diff fluid on trans/ front diff and rear. I am hearing a tapping sort of noise when I depress the clutch pedal and put it into fist and second. Not sure if this is a bleeding issue, the car not likening Motul 75w-90 or something else like a throw out bearing or needing to bleed the clutch. Any feedback helps.
I have a question…I have a 15 wrx and I just replaced my master cylinder and while bleeding my slave when I close the bleeder screw I still constantly get air coming out.
The problem I’m having tho is I can’t get the air to stop it’s almost like the bleeder screw won’t fully close…when the bleeder screw is fully closed I have have an air leak
Not related with the video but I have the same c lights installed as you do from circuit Demon. Have you experienced any issues? My show mode randomly turns on without any of the remotes being touched or in range. I'll come out of work with the lights running a party. Messaged Circuit Demon and they don't know the cause of it either.
So we just did this replaced the master and bleed the line but now my clutch feels really spongy and sometimes still sticks a lil anybody got any suggestions

Nice ride ,will try when son comes home from work
Congrats on your new child!!
Great video and great wife. I just replaced my 2006 sti clutch slave cylinder. Tried bleeding . No go

I had to do a bench bleed. This method didn’t work.
@@Autofreakgarage ahh gotcha! Such a simple line to replace, but bleeding it sounds like such a pain :/
Finally getting the hood huh?

Taking the entire brake master cylinder out and bleed it out of the car.

So did you ever adjust the push rod on the masters cylinder
A little bit of a stupid question but since the brake and clutch reservoir use the same DOT fluid. When you drain the brake fluid you have to also bleed the clutch? Or are they separate?
No sir since the lines to the clutch are separate. It’s just fills from the same reservoir.

Thank you for the video. I had one question. Did you end up dumping the fluid back into the reservoir?
I topped it off with fresh fluid, but you can reuse the fluid you bled out.
@@Autofreakgarage Dot 3 or 4 is what I’m reading. Did you just top off with the OEM fluid?
Dot 4. I flushed OEM fluid out when I did my brake flush for ate 200
@@Autofreakgarage thanks for your help!
Is the sti easier to drive with the Accessport? I want my car a little bit more easy to drive. Thanks for your answers .
Yes, tuning the car will smooth things out and remove a lot of the jerkiness that the stock map provides.
When you finish bleeding it , do you leave the clutch stuck on the floor ? Or you pull it up before starting the car ?
The clutch pedal should return to normal spot. It should not be on the floor.
Do you have to remove the TMIC to bleed the clutch? Looks like you do
Yes. You’ll be extremely hard to gain access with it still on.

Need to bench bleed the clutch

@matthewwillis9449 I would take I completely out and inspect.
Big bro would this be the same process in a 15 wrx? Working on 90k service in the few weeks so trying to add this to the list
Yes very similar process
What brand do you use and recommend
MOTUL or ate200
Congrats , what grill is that ?

Unrelated but does installing the pitch stop/brace combo reduce NVH? Or is it the opposite?
Opposite. Stiffer bushings and mounts introduce some minor nvh.

Mine are actually diode dynamics. I’m not familiar with the circuit demon ones.

Need to bench bleed the master cylinder.
Thank you very much .
What hose size did you use?
I’m actually not sure of the size. Whatever the kit came with is what I used.
@@Autofreakgaragewhat kit did u use?
@10185mordy perrin
@@Autofreakgarage I meant for the clutch bleeding kit in the end
@10185mordy just used one from harbor freight. Although, I ended up bringing to my shop and they did a bench bleed.
Do you feel any improvement?
Yes. Big improvement in clutch feel. No dead space at the top. Very firm and predictable.
