      That's a bold statement. You are allowed to not appreciate something even if you comprehend it. A lot of people understand and respect the artistry and musicality of metal bands and songs, yet don't appreciate metal as a genre. I'm not saying anything about this video or channel, just pointing out how toxic this kind of rethoric CAN be.

      I don’t like it, not because its bad but because it’s really not my kind of music. I like symphonic, progressive and Neo classic metal so it was very unlikely that I would like. Way too simple for my taste. But I’m sure people that like hip hop/beat might like it and good for them and good for him. There is an audience for everything. And he did put some effort into it, had a nice Zelda Song Of Storm segment, and it was original with his “instruments”. Because I don’t like doesn’t mean he doesn’t have talent and it doesn’t mean that I don’t know anything about music either.

    The final song is great, the lyrics are profound and honest. The whole process is inspiring! Thanks for sharing and keep writing music! I can identify with the experience of being ambitious and unable to keep up with your own expectations. It's not the people who doesn't like your music: it's you! You haven't accepted your own process. Be patient and supportive with your own self and things will come through time. You are already sounding great.

      @songsbyspencer  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's absolutely mind-blowing how almost everything makes sound. And with today's tools, you can make anything sound like anything. Pretty wild stuff! You could easily make a sweet basketball beat using the ball, the rim, the net, and the backboard. I'm thinking of doing some videos like that.

      The TH-cam game is interesting because when I force myself out of my comfort zone to make an engaging video or try a new concept, my first instinct is to resist it. But eventually, I always end up finding the fun and creating something I'm proud of- and I learn a lot during the process.

    Hello, thanks for sharing.
    Not trying to moralize or lecture, there is something I will choose to share about "insecurities/inadequacies." "Opinions are like @sses, everyone has one." Often, negative feedback coming from others are based on jealousy or "feeling of threat" and fears that what you do may be more interesting than what "he" does.
    Someone once said to me: "You are what you think you are." This simple thought helped me change my life as a musician/composer. Like you, I also had (and still have) "insecurities" but this is healthy and normal. It helps us to always try to do better but the most important is to continue to write music and to put your soul into it. Another tip, it is also important to spread good vibes, funny messages. Being like that brings people to be around. Stay safe and continue doing nice things.

    You have a lot of things really going for you. Your video planning, editing, pacing, lighting, etc. are all on point. Your ability to utilize the things around you to create is also superb. Your hard work and never say die attitude are super important and you nail it there. Your lyrics and the emotions behind them are top notch. Your note progression is also enticing and catchy.
    Then you have the things that are good but average. This area includes things like the repetitiveness of your music. That is the main drawback to looping. Something that can help with this is adding dynamics and playing 2nd and 3rd takes for each loop that are each different from one another. The difference can be a single note or the whole loop line. Then weave in the different options for each loop to accent parts of the song.
    Last we have the area that needs the most work, vocals. The notes you chose are fine but you failed to hit several of them. Some notes you are right on. Others you get close or even hit it but then fall flat immediately. Others still you start flat and end flat. The main area this seems to come into effect is on the highest note of each phrase, even if it is well within your range. The only thing I can think of without working with you is that you are anticipating the next note which is lower and your voice is following before it should. Be sure to focus on each note as its own note, neither effected but what is before it or by what is after it. Then, when each note is dialed in you can focus on phrasing.
    I hope this helps. I like where you are going with things and hope to hear more.
    P.S. if this isn’t helpful ignore it.

Anyways, I have a suggestion/idea, I think it would be cool for you to do a series where you create a song for different genres and sub-genres of pop and rock music (I personally love post-punk and its related sub-genres, but you could do many different styles, like funk, punk, blues/blues rock, EDM, classic rock, dream pop, alternative pop, etc.), because it'd be really interesting to see what kind of cool stuff you could come up with.

      I plan on doing more videos like your idea! I did a Country Song and an Acapella song for the first time in past videos. It's fun trying a new style. You learn so much and it forces you to gain respect for the genre, even if it isn't your cup of tea.

    @Songs By Spencer - I watched most of this video admittedly from the thumbnail, until you played your song at the end and I then felt compelled to drop by and give you a big thumbs up mate. There's a part of me that is bitter that I haven't gotten further than I am. But at the same time I check myself because I know for every person who works as hard as I do, there are 100 others who work even harder. The more I work at this, the more I learn that there is no perfect song and no perfect musician. It's all about the journey and I'm so grateful to just be able to write and record music. Thank you so much for taking the time to watch and comment, it helps and it means alot!

    Keep making music man. You've got talent. I'm a musician as well and suffer from the same self doubt at times. I keep doing it because I love it though. I will never stop and neither should you. Besides the more you keep writing and playing the better it will become. We don't notice our own growth as it's happening but go back and listen to your older stuff. You will see how much you have improved and you might revisit some old ideas worth remaking now that you're more experienced.
