I first learned of Taurus Camp from Walletopia. It seemed to have all the features I wanted in a slim package. After a couple messages back and forth with Sajid (the owner) I ordered the Base Wallet Cards version in Dark Brown Hand Dyed finish. A few weeks later I received my wallet and my initial impressions were very positive. I wanted to carry/use the wallet for a couple months before leaving a review. The wallet is simply spectacular. It holds a fair amount of cards and money in such a slim package. It all but disappears in my front pocket. The leather is top notch and has worn extremely well. I have to give Kudos to Sajid who provided excellent and timely communication throughout the process. This is a family business and he is top notch. I have several other (more expensive) wallets but this is my everyday carry. Kudos to Sajid!

I was looking for a wallet some time ago. This channel helped me look into what's available, but, ultimately, I decided to keep my old, worn wallet for a little longer. The only option I really liked was too expensive for me. Now, I decided to visit the channel again - and what a wallet this seems to be. I think I finally found the one that was meant for me. Thanks for what you do.
I bought this wallet about a year ago based on this review, a few notes for other viewers considering getting this: 1. The wallet isn't a single piece of leather like you mentioned, the divider between the two interior card slots is a separate piece of leather joined to the rest wallet via the stitching at the bottom. Since the sides are detached from the rest of the wallet, you have freedom to load up one slot or the other as you please. You can request Sajid to have this inner piece in another color, and it will be visible through the burnishing at bottom of the wallet if you want an accent color aside from the thread. On that note, choices of thread color are a bit limited. 2. Coins tend to get stuck in the bottom corners of the interior card slots. I carry a tool card in the same slot that I put coins in, which helps prevent the issue from happening but doesn't totally eliminate it. If you regularly carry coins in your wallet, get the Coins version which turns the rear interior card slot into a dedicated coin pouch. 3. Using the cash slot as intended is difficult if your country has crappy paper bank notes that become softer than Kleenex over time. I tend to put my notes in the slot with the fold facing up, so that the corners don't just crumple when I try to push them out from behind the flap. For notes that are too soft for even that, I fold them in fourths and put them in the quick access slot. Also, as the wallet fills up with cards, you'll find that the wallet bulges up behind the cash slot and the slot's tolerance for imperfectly folded notes becomes tighter. 4. The button is about 1/4 inch or 6mm thick. If you wear tight pants/shorts, you should make it a habit to pocket this with the button facing out. My wallet came with the snap painted black (not by my request), but the paint wore off after a few months. No big deal since the brass looks nicer to me anyway. Overall, the wallet is great, and I'm glad this channel led me to it. I'll definitely be getting another Tauruscamp wallet when I can afford one in Shell Cordovan :)

I was searching for a minimalist front pocket wallet for a family trip to Europe. I watched hours and hours of Mark’s videos. Picked up a Serman Brands 1.0 in Canyon Red just to stick my toes in the water. It works great day to day, but, it won’t handle Euros. So I knew I needed something else for the trip. Based on this review, I purchased the 8cm Tauruscamp Base wallet in the walnut hand dye, and it arrived in the mail today. I already love it. Problem for me with the Crazy Horse it doesn’t have a quick access card slot and quick access for cash. What I’m looking for is a wallet that has a quick access for my most used card and a quick access for cash without opening up something. My less used cards I’m good with being stored. When I’m in line at a store I want convenience.
This wallet seems to have it all compared to the likes of Open Seas leather. I like that everything is accessible quick access without having to open up the wallet. I also like the money slot

@@MrWanted000 I liked both designs. If you don't want button and want fully secure flap behind the easy access slot, go for Grain Wallet. Both wallets can be used to Tap card from easy access slot though without opening. From my personal opinion, I would go for basewallet as it has an open side through which you can push the cash out without opening the button and can take out ATM card from easy access easily. Thinking about the safety about dropping things out, i would guarantee that the product is absolutely perfect in all aspects. once the card is in, its just fixed inside. Never fall out. @@Raxelet card will be usually kept inside. Flap is to cover that we tuck it in.. I heard that tauruscampcis going to bring their new wallet merging both grain and base. That would be a fantastic one. About patina, every kind of usage will give different types of unique patina.. if the sides are exposed to atmosphere or body, it'll patina well than close area.

This is the first wallet that I own and feel like this is it, this is the one! I don’t need a new one because I miss this or I miss that and my drawer is full of wallets…. Also you don’t have the version with coins compartment. On the coin pouch version, the back pocket is half the size and you can put only coins or keys not cards. It is great because you don’t have to dig to get your coins

Impressed…I’d buy this wallet. No sniff test? Sort of agree with you on card slot notches, but front cards cover back slot notch. Maybe make wallet slightly longer and include an interior stitch to make back cards a little offset from front. Regardless, great design and compact…and single fold cash! Love the reviews.

It kind of reminds me of the Kamino wallet with its folded construction. It also looks very convenient for both US and international users with the multi-purpose slot in the back. Looks like one to keep in mind, for the day my current wallet dies.
The leather is lovely but after time I’ve found it to be a bit purse like with the popper. The popper has also cracked one of my cards. Just wait for my open sea leather wallet to be delivered 🤞
Wow the color is good. A question, how hard is that to access coins, how difficult is it to search or how easy it can cause you to drop coins? Especially on full capacity condition, where the rest of wallet is less flexible?
Great question, not hard at all, with the coin slot being in the back a quick pinch opens it up enough, even with cards in the slots in front to access them and the flap serves as the tray.
I'm confused between this and the Mitchell Leather Money Clip Wallet. Which wallet do you think has better quality? And which would you recommend overall?
The price of this base wallet has just increased, I bought this at the price same as the grain wallet, the standard size is recommended if you need to insert Singapore dollars, the coin slot can be used easier if I only insert 3 cards.
For the grain wallet one full length card slot is sewn shut in the middle. The lower half becomes the key slot, the upper half the coin department. Also it has no or much smaller notches so coins don't fall out through them. For this one I'm not sure but the TH-cam videos linked on the etsy shop should give you an idea
I've asked again and indeed it is the notches plus for the base wallet too the coin compartment is sewn shut at something like half height so the coins aren't too deep down and hard to get to

@@jcap8391 It'll make sense when you see it. The area at the back of the coin wallet doesn't go all the way down. Only about halfway. That makes it easier to reach the coins. But it also means you can't use it for cards. If that makes sense. Loving his new colour selections, look great 👌
Can you feel the button when you sit down with the wallet in the back pocket? That would be my only concern with this design. I would go with the grain wallet instead, but that one lacks quick access slot.
because of the opening are on the top side, how hard is it to take coins? Based on the video it seems like there's a need to pour out your coins to find the right coins.
Others have pointed out , this wallet comes in a “coin” and a “card” version. It looks like the logo on yours matches the coin version (if I have that right) but what you’re calling the coin locker is in fact a card pocket, so the “card” version. Seem to me the card version works for coins - at least in this review, the full depth pocket isn’t a problem - but is more versatile if you have more cards than the coin version comfortably fits. Do I have this right, Mark?
I have the "card version". originally I thought of getting the coin version but I opted for the card version because the card version works for coins flawlessly. I have tested it with storing 1 cent coins based on a foreign currency, after the flap is closed, no matter how I shake the wallet in any direction, the smallest size coins would not drop out of the wallet. I even tried putting cards + coins together and they fit great.
@@Raxelet I did a quick test. The condition must be met if you want to achieve the same result. I first put 8 cards in the big pocket , then I put 5x $2 dollar value coins in the same pocket, all fit, probably close to space limit. I tried to not move the 8th card if possible, so I can put the rest of the 7 cards back to pocket easy, after taking them out, without taking out all the coins as the 8th card act as a coin spacer / coin trap. Size of the $2 dollar coin is approximately 27mm in diameter.
I have the grain wallet for months, imo its more functional than the base wallet it just depend on how creative you are on using it, like i can push cash from the side slot too,you can get also the cash from the side by pulling the flap little bit but not thorough then just push it back, no hassle at all, it saved more effort than pushing snap, and i do insert my quick card infront of the flap, it serve as my quick access card slot, on that it gives you option to either show your card or hide your card, to summarized it, both wallets are great but grain wallet is far better, if you know how to use it wisely. 😅

I've eyeballed the tauruscamp wallets for a while, and the price on the wallet is great, but not that shipping cost hits hard. Speaking of etsy leather makers, there's a guy making a leather/ steel box wallet that's really quite nice. It's Willowist leather, and his minimalist pop up card wallet uses some of the best feeling (and smelling) leather I own, and that's comparing it to popov, Saddleback, Singular, etc.

Yes that’s the decision I am having to make as well. To me it’s more versatile and cheaper, but also larger. I’m still on the fence of which one to get. I’m looking at the 7cm version.
I’m a bit meh 😕 with this one, which I know seems strange given the score. The leather looks as thin as the leather that Wingback uses. I just don’t like it. Too thin, Almost shaved to within an inch of it’s life. Just not my taste. I can see and do understand why it scores so high though. Like I say it’s not my taste which is weird for the score. 🤷🏻♂️ Usually I’m all over the high scorers but not this one. May be because of high end delivery service. If you contact Tauruscamp, they might arrange a cheaper delivery I guess which may take some time to deliver. But the product is worth waiting for 😍
I normally don’t like wallets that have a clasp. They remind me of a purse. But this one passes muster. I still wouldn’t purchase this one for the clasp reason. It is an intriguing and great design. Maybe use a denim style clasp might sell someone like me. A clasp can pull leather out of shape to overtime too.

Impressed…I’d buy this wallet. No sniff test? Sort of agree with you on card slot notches, but front cards cover back slot notch. Maybe make wallet slightly longer and include an interior stitch to make back cards a little offset from front. Regardless, great design and compact…and single fold cash! Love the reviews.

It kind of reminds me of the Kamino wallet with its folded construction. It also looks very convenient for both US and international users with the multi-purpose slot in the back. Looks like one to keep in mind, for the day my current wallet dies.

The leather is lovely but after time I’ve found it to be a bit purse like with the popper. The popper has also cracked one of my cards. Just wait for my open sea leather wallet to be delivered 🤞

Wow the color is good. A question, how hard is that to access coins, how difficult is it to search or how easy it can cause you to drop coins? Especially on full capacity condition, where the rest of wallet is less flexible?
Great question, not hard at all, with the coin slot being in the back a quick pinch opens it up enough, even with cards in the slots in front to access them and the flap serves as the tray.

I'm confused between this and the Mitchell Leather Money Clip Wallet. Which wallet do you think has better quality? And which would you recommend overall?
Both are great quality, but it depends whether you like a true bifold or a more compact wallet like the BaseWallet.
The price of this base wallet has just increased, I bought this at the price same as the grain wallet, the standard size is recommended if you need to insert Singapore dollars, the coin slot can be used easier if I only insert 3 cards.
Base wallet and grain wallet each have a card and coin version. What are the differences between the same version? Just the button?
For the grain wallet one full length card slot is sewn shut in the middle. The lower half becomes the key slot, the upper half the coin department. Also it has no or much smaller notches so coins don't fall out through them. For this one I'm not sure but the TH-cam videos linked on the etsy shop should give you an idea
I've asked again and indeed it is the notches plus for the base wallet too the coin compartment is sewn shut at something like half height so the coins aren't too deep down and hard to get to

The area at the back of the coin wallet doesn't go all the way down. Only about halfway. That makes it easier to reach the coins.
But it also means you can't use it for cards. If that makes sense.

Can you feel the button when you sit down with the wallet in the back pocket? That would be my only concern with this design. I would go with the grain wallet instead, but that one lacks quick access slot.
Honestly it would depend on how sensitive your behind is to things in your pocket. It's not overtly pokey and lays very flat.

because of the opening are on the top side, how hard is it to take coins? Based on the video it seems like there's a need to pour out your coins to find the right coins.
Others have pointed out , this wallet comes in a “coin” and a “card” version. It looks like the logo on yours matches the coin version (if I have that right) but what you’re calling the coin locker is in fact a card pocket, so the “card” version. Seem to me the card version works for coins - at least in this review, the full depth pocket isn’t a problem - but is more versatile if you have more cards than the coin version comfortably fits. Do I have this right, Mark?
I have the "card version". originally I thought of getting the coin version but I opted for the card version because the card version works for coins flawlessly. I have tested it with storing 1 cent coins based on a foreign currency, after the flap is closed, no matter how I shake the wallet in any direction, the smallest size coins would not drop out of the wallet. I even tried putting cards + coins together and they fit great.

@@Raxelet I did a quick test. The condition must be met if you want to achieve the same result. I first put 8 cards in the big pocket , then I put 5x $2 dollar value coins in the same pocket, all fit, probably close to space limit. I tried to not move the 8th card if possible, so I can put the rest of the 7 cards back to pocket easy, after taking them out, without taking out all the coins as the 8th card act as a coin spacer / coin trap. Size of the $2 dollar coin is approximately 27mm in diameter.
I have the grain wallet for months, imo its more functional than the base wallet it just depend on how creative you are on using it, like i can push cash from the side slot too,you can get also the cash from the side by pulling the flap little bit but not thorough then just push it back, no hassle at all, it saved more effort than pushing snap, and i do insert my quick card infront of the flap, it serve as my quick access card slot, on that it gives you option to either show your card or hide your card, to summarized it, both wallets are great but grain wallet is far better, if you know how to use it wisely. 😅

I've eyeballed the tauruscamp wallets for a while, and the price on the wallet is great, but not that shipping cost hits hard.
Speaking of etsy leather makers, there's a guy making a leather/ steel box wallet that's really quite nice. It's Willowist leather, and his minimalist pop up card wallet uses some of the best feeling (and smelling) leather I own, and that's comparing it to popov, Saddleback, Singular, etc.

Great wallet and design, however the only problem for all of as that live in EU, is vat plus shipping cost, which makes it unaffordable.
Go look at the Bern wallet not sold in us. It's a good alternative to this.

Yes that’s the decision I am having to make as well. To me it’s more versatile and cheaper, but also larger. I’m still on the fence of which one to get. I’m looking at the 7cm version.

I’m a bit meh 😕 with this one, which I know seems strange given the score. The leather looks as thin as the leather that Wingback uses. I just don’t like it. Too thin, Almost shaved to within an inch of it’s life. Just not my taste. I can see and do understand why it scores so high though. Like I say it’s not my taste which is weird for the score. 🤷🏻♂️ Usually I’m all over the high scorers but not this one.

I normally don’t like wallets that have a clasp. They remind me of a purse. But this one passes muster. I still wouldn’t purchase this one for the clasp reason. It is an intriguing and great design. Maybe use a denim style clasp might sell someone like me. A clasp can pull leather out of shape to overtime too.
