"Class Act" really describes Huey Lewis and the News. No-one else like them! The only modern-day equivalents I can think of would be Green Day, maybe The Offspring. Some are in it for Life!
Huey, your fans (like me) are so sorry. I"m going to pray this Meniere's goes away. Hang in there. Thank you for all the good music. May there be more!
Ann, I have Meniere's Disease which was diagnosed about a year ago. I love music and film and it inhibits my ability to enjoy the, Unfortunately, as Huey says, there is no cure and no REAL treatment except to give up caffeine, wine, chocolate, anything with salt in it, it's very radical and it doesnt really work. It doesnt go away. I wish it did. I'm in an allied profession, and it inhibits my ability to do that and the thing I really love.
' I am not the greatest singer in the world' Humble man. This post over a year old just came to me. Hope you're feeling better now Wishing you a speedy recovery Mr. Lewis.
Unbelievable this could happen to Huey. One of the nicest guys in the business and one of our oldest friends. Hopefully they'll come up with something that helps.
Huey...you & the guys have put out AWESOME music in your careers. I pray that you get better, but if you don't, THANK YOU for what you shared with us over the years!
Huey, I just saw this for the first time. I'm so sorry, and I love you and the guys. You've given us wonderful memories and continue to be a part of our lives. Many blessings, happiness and improved health!
Come back to us, Huey! Your fans need you! Don’t pressure yourself too much, though. Pace yourself. Take good care of yourself, and keep your chin up. Your fans will be here to celebrate your glorious comeback! You’re worth the wait. Take care. We love you.
I was diagnosed at 25. Normal age range is 40-60. Lost my hearing in my left ear then about 3 years later the vertigo hit with a vengeance. I suffered for 8 years (diet changes didn’t work for me) trying meds and surgeries before finding out upper cervical chiropractic care helps. I’m living completely normal now. But this is something that completely changes your life.
I can relate to him in a way,I'm a musician and a songwriter,I've never been at Huey's level but I've played and sang in bars for forty years,a week before Christmas 2014 I had a stroke affecting my left side,I was mainly a bass player on stage but I used my guitar for song writing and now I can't play, not even to just fool around or to write,it's been four years and I don't know if I'll ever be able to play again but I'll survive it because I have my God,Jesus Christ,my wife and my son,I've just started grabbing my home made tapes and with my wife's help I'm transferring them over to my laptop with the intention of putting some of my songs on you tube,I haven't heard them in years but I'm finding out that some of the stuff is pretty good,I'll see what I can do with them,I guess this is my way of still doing music and maybe that's also why my wife is helping me out so much with this,I really hope Huey can return to his music again though because it's such a big part of him, hopefully he's got love and support to help him with his problem,God bless you Huey I really hope it all works out for you. Bob.
My mother was diagnosed with Meniere's Disease when she was in her early 30s, she is now in her early 60s and still has tinnitus and distortion in her ear. Thirty years on and there is still no cure in sight. I think that now that a celebrity has been diagnosed with this may make the medical community search harder for a cure! I wish you all the best, Huey!!
Dana White has had this for years. I hope you're right since Hueys' name is more widespread! Best wishes to you and your mother, hopefully they can help her one day!
Quite a few celebs have it; Kristen Chenoweth, Les Paul, Ryan Adams, Dana White, I've also read that Harry Connick Jr has it too but I couldn't find factual proof. There's more too but these are just off the top of my head. What makes me mad about Dana is that he's very vague about the treatments he's received in Europe.
Susan Red I was diagnosed with Engle's Syndrome. I have constant ringing in the ears. It's pretty serious. I was in an automobile accident, then was beaten up very badly by my ex-husband. Afrer the beating, the next morning, the ringing in ears started. It affects the main artery. Can cause strokes. I have had mini strokes. My hearing has gotten worse. I know it must be hard not to be able to hear yourself sing. Especislly, for someone who sings for a living. I remember Heuy from waaaay back. When he was married to Valarie. He's a good guy. He really is.
Love this guy can't wait for him to get better, I hope the new album is done enough so as he can put it out soon I know 5 to 6 songs were done before his hearing loss
Huey,i never got to see you live but as a vocalist in a live local band as i am you smoke me..your voice has presence and you are a great front man..the best of the best for sure..get better!!
A huey lewis & the news show is amazing. The band is incredibly tight hueys stories are great to hear and the hits keep coming..ive seen.him many times. Always high octane incredible show ...all the very very best. Cant wait for feb 14 2020 new album called Weather. ..
When I first heard about this earlier in the year, I cried. Huey has been my favorite singer since I was a little kid in the '80s. Hoping he can sing and perform live again someday!!
Get well Huey, said your not the best singer but your voice is unmistakable. I know you love to perform, it’s in your blood. Hope you can get past this....you’re a nice cool dude, and you’re loved.
We are still Huge fans. This won't change a thing. Your reliability over the years counts big in our hearts. Your integrity moves us. Love to you for ever.
I hope you get better Huey good luck I saw you last summer and it was the best concert I've ever been to In My Life you guys are simply amazing one of the best bands ever created I feel honored to have seen the show this past year and I hope to see you again in the future keep up the amazing work thank you
I LOVE THAT HE IS BRINGING AWARENESS. As Menieres sufferer and lifelong musician (and the father of three boys that are musicians), I can relate. Mennieres (for me and most) takes the lower frequencies. Hearing aids don't help with that much. Being in a club or any cacophonous space basically takes all the enjoyment out of music. Still amazing when its in person and close. I AM SO HAPPY THAT HE HAS SHOWN A LIGHT ON MENIERE'S (AND THAT HE CALLED IT A SYNDROME AND NOT A DISEASE). Kudos to him. I truly wish, like I'm sure he does, that I could listen to his music in stereo (and my sons' music). After losing mine totally in left between 35 and 42 and most in right since after a life spent in music , I can understand. THANK YOU, HUEY for raising awareness. stay strong and record every chance you get.
Well , the lead singer of ac/DC got back together with his band he had ear loss they put a state of the art ear price in now he's great and rocking out .I do want Huey back where he belongs making records it's where he should be at let's don't a cure for this and get Huey Lewis rocking again
There are so many things we may take for granted. And, like Huey said, working with the same group is extra special. At my age, when I wake up in the mornings, I'm grateful & happy.
I was fortunate enough to meet Huey at the Mountain Winery in Saratoga back in 2002 or so, and he could not have been more gracious and pleasant. Quite a true gentleman and a tremendous performer. Wishing him all the best!
Huey Lewis, I've been listening to your music ever since I was a kid. Now, (forty-something) I still listen to your awesome music. I hope you get better so we all can enjoy that amazing talent of your and voice.
Huey Lewis and the News is a great band. I hope he's able to find a way to correct his hearing. I have hearing loss, thanks to the Boom Box on my shoulders back in the early 80's. Much love to Huey Lewis from Yonkers N.Y. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I feel so bad for Huey Lewis, I hope he GETS WELL SOON!! God bless him. I ALWAYS liked his music during the 80s. I saw him in concert about 2 years ago and he was PHENOMENAL!! He brought SOOOO many GREAT songs in the world!! I'll cherish his music FOREVER!!
Was not aware of this until now. I hope he will be able to regain his hearing. His music was a favorite part of my teenage years. Thank you, Huey Lewis and The News!!
Got to see Huey Lewis and The News in Manchester, England. They were backed by Tower of Power and Bruce Hornsby opened. Fantastic concert...but it's no surprise these rockers go deaf. Kiss was the loudest band I've heard live. Spent half the concert with my fingers in my ears.
We as your Fans Huey Lewis and The News have your back and support. Prayers 🙏🙏🙏 that it gets better over time!! Been a fan since the early days (80s). Have all your albums and play them constantly on rotation!!
The guy's a pretty cool cat. I respect him because in this situation many others would have used this interview to paint a sad picture. You know the "poor pitiful me" kind of thing.
I love you Huey. Your song “If this is it” was my breakup song for my boyfriend when I found out he was cheating. Lots of your music makes me think of the good times he and I had though. Your music really did change my life.
Huey, I hope you get better soon. Your music has motivated me so much in my life. I especially love playing it when I have friends over to my condo. Sincerely Patrick Bateman
I pray for you Huey, I saw you twice in the 80s and you guys really rocked out...my prayers go out to you, I believe nothing is said and done and YOU WILL RETURN TO FORM...AND HEALTHY...God speed Mr Lewis !❤
Bluesy Huey Lewis on harmonica with Thin Lizzy for Live and Dangerous.. yes, fan for a long time. Saw the band in "85 (?) Berkeley out door arena. Great show. Get well and Get out there !! We miss you.
@Mango Roxx That would be great, huh ? I believe Huey just guested on one song with TL back in the '70s. No, I just saw The News. Still a good show, though.
He sure does look good for his age and being a rocker!! It's time for him to be concerned about himself and his health and NOT his fans, this is most likely his body telling him to slow the F down, he needs to take it easy.
I have the same disease and it's been going on it's 6th year. I don't have quite the same symptoms as Huey, but I do have the Vertigo / balance loss. It's a crappy thing to have, but I consider myself lucky as it could always be worse..
Huey I'm thinking of you. Love your music. Hate this happened. Power Of Love is my go to song. Have faith you may just get the miracle you have been waiting for. I hope so.
I am 51 and am going through this right now. I have spent tens of thousands to fix my sudden hearing loss. My Doctors can not find an issue. The impact on my life and my business is devistating.
No apologies mr. Huey Lewis our health changes during the course of our lives and you and your band is 1 of my favorites growing up enjoyed the classic songs hang in there sir your fans r behind you 💯💯💯💯👍🙏🙏💪🎤🎶🎵✊
I love listening to Huey Lewis; He is one of my most favorite singers. It is a shame that he had to take a break from performing. I hope that he can find a way to get better so he can get back to performing.-JW
Very very sorry to hear that will definitely be praying for you and God knows you wanted the you are definitely one of the best we need more like you especially in today's music scene best of luck brother
Prayers for Huey Lewis. I was a huge Huey fan back in the day. I was even at the rainy concert, at the concord pavilion, where Bill Graham died in a helicopter crash. I was in the cheap seats wearing a rain poncho because the weather was so bad that night. I’ll never forget that weather. It was back in October of 1991.
"I am not the greatest singer of the world"??? maybe, but you are for sure one of the greatest! nice powerful baritone timbre, yet with almost tenor range!
My husband suffers with this debilitating disease. It can occur with little warning, with dizziness, vomiting, then sleeps for a minimum of 2 hours. It leaves him worn out. He also loves music & has decreased hearing. The T.V must be turned up for him to hear anything. Therefore he retreats in social settings. There are few drugs to assist, which give only minor relief, then cease to work. It is an inner ear condition & can be very depressing for those with it & those who witness their loved ones suffering with it. We wish Huey all the very best. He has given us so many fantastic hits over the years. When it’s your passion, it must be intolerable. All the best Huey. 🤗
2:40 "I'm not the greatest singer in the world but I'm reliable." A total class act. I saw him twice in the 80s and it was fantastic - a fan for life.
"Class Act" really describes Huey Lewis and the News. No-one else like them!
The only modern-day equivalents I can think of would be Green Day, maybe The Offspring. Some are in it for Life!
Huey has perpetually looked 45 years old his entire career.
He’s ageless incredible .🙏🏼🌺
He’s always looked sooo great!😍😁
I'm 41 so Huey has pretty much been the soundtrack to my entire life! I wish him the very best and God bless all for supporting him!

Unbelievable this could happen to Huey. One of the nicest guys in the business and one of our oldest friends. Hopefully they'll come up with something that helps.

Sorry to hear this
God Bless you, Bob.
God bless you my brother. I am sorry to hear what you experienced but I pray God will bless you in other ways in this season of your life.
All the best to you Mr. Lewis, you've given us so much. Don't feel bad for having to cancel shows, your health comes first.
Saw Huey front row back in the mid 80's with Larry Bird sitting next to me. Saw him 2 other times during the 80's. Great rock n roll show.
Did the guy sitting behind Larry Bird enjoy the show?

S B Which valerie?
Does Meniere's have an onset caused by hearing damage? Huey doesn't appear to be wearing hearing protection of any kind in earlier performances.
So much great music. Thank you Huey. One of my favorites. Real singing, real music....
Love this guy can't wait for him to get better, I hope the new album is done enough so as he can put it out soon I know 5 to 6 songs were done before his hearing loss

I’m so sorry Huey I’m in tears because your music that was created, well got me through some difficult years.May God bless your hearing.

Always loved his music! He seems like such a nice person. Praying for him.
He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humour.
Ha!!
Is that a raincoat?
His music is an important part of my life, I hope gets better and can tour again. HEART AND SOUL! This makes me devasted.
I love Huey, grew up with his music, hope he gets well.
Huey Lewis, you are a big part of our best memories. I hope your condition improves soon. Btw, your glasses are sleek!
Good luck Huey, I really hope you can recover from this!

One thing I really admire and like about Huey is his vocals are very honest if that makes sense to anyone.
No..it doesn't.

He sure does look good for his age and being a rocker!! It's time for him to be concerned about himself and his health and NOT his fans, this is most likely his body telling him to slow the F down, he needs to take it easy.
because it’s not just about the pleasures of conformity and the importance of friends. It’s also a personal statement about the band itself.
I have the same disease and it's been going on it's 6th year. I don't have quite the same symptoms as Huey, but I do have the Vertigo / balance loss. It's a crappy thing to have, but I consider myself lucky as it could always be worse..
So, how are you? have you been able to cope? Has it gotten better?
Wish you well!
Huey I'm thinking of you. Love your music. Hate this happened. Power Of Love is my go to song. Have faith you may just get the miracle you have been waiting for. I hope so.
Was just listening to you today, Huey. I wish you well.
Thankfully got to see him and his band perform in 2017 before this came about..life long fan,and they put on a great show! Hope he gets better!
I have this with bad vertigo. It has disabled me. I will pray for you.

Praying. He was a huge part of my childhood.
