You can tell where his mentality is because he keeps using "we" instead of " I" . His musical journey seems to have been a team effort. Great music through the years.

It's great to see that he's such a down-to-earth guy and isn't super.. Narcissistic? Would that be the right word for it? Doesn't have a huge ego? Basically his personality is the opposite of Rob Gronkowski LOL. He knows that his band mates had just as much to do with their success as he did. He didn't do it alone, and neither did they. It was a group effort, and so they deserve just as much recognition as he does.

LOVE HUEY! I actually met HUEY in Caesars Palace in Las Vegas (the early 90s) at 5am on a Sunday in the very empty casino. He was on the house phone waiting for something. The night before, he and the band did a show in the main showroom. We broke into a chat for a bit. Super cool guy; especially at that time in the morning. I honestly was surprised to see him there so early given the show they put on. I thought I was the ONLY nutjob who goes to the late show and still gets up early in the morning. Maybe he was up all night? I don't know. What I do know is that he is a very cool guy....just like his music! They even did some acapella harmonies showing off their true talents!

"Picture This" is my favorite. It was my first HL&TN cassette and really captures a turning point in music in the early '80s. The songs are mostly quirky, goofy and fun and yet their influences, camaraderie and musicianship are all upfront. "Tattoo" (co-written with Phil Lynott of Thin Lizzy) is an earworm with Huey smashing his absolute highest range. "Do You Believe In Love" is a Mutt Lange tune. "Is It Me" is a sweet throwback ballad with a haunting sax solo. "Buzz Buzz Buzz" wraps up a collection of uplifting nostalgia tunes while signaling more of this to come. Check it all out, if you haven't. It's a real treat!

One of the major contributors to the soundtrack of my youth. Had the privilege of seeing Huey twice, once in the summer of '85, and then early in '87, and he put on great shows both times. He always seems like such a down to earth kind of guy who appreciated the success he achieved without it going to his head. Hope his hearing gets better soon.

I’m so glad I grew up in the ‘80s when Huey Lewis & The News was constantly on the radio. “Couple Days Off” is probably my favorite song by them, it’s a shame it gets so overlooked.

So, so glad he added “Small World, Part Two” to his list of favourites. Definitely one of my “go-to” tunes, and that album is definitely my favourite, although I pretty much love anything they’ve put out. Got to see them back in 2018 in Niagara Falls....had shivers up and down the entire show!

Saw them on the 4th of July on the beach at Camp Pendleton with the fireworks & we learned he too was in the Marine Corps. This was the early 90s. With the music playing& the fireworks blasting I kissed a beautiful young lady. Thanks for the great memory Huey. What great fun. To be young again!

I saw the band right before they broke big in late November at a packed college bar in Youngstown Ohio. The really rocked the place. No one could dance because we were packed in so tightly. It was so hot and sweaty inside and outside it was freezing. On the walk to the car by glasses fogged up solid. A month later they would be MTV staples. The next summer we saw them again at Blossom and they drew over 20,000. Some of the best times of my life. I will always love this great band.

This was fantastic & I luv that Huey is kind of having a resurgence in the media lately (New album, Jimmy Kimmel Live, TH-cam & The Big Interview with Dan Rather). He deserves every minute of it though. So many great albums & hit singles & great music videos as well. Also a tremendous live performer. I just hope that someday soon he will get inducted into the HOF. He is, IMHO, one of the finest musicians that America has ever produced.

So many great records. Personally, I love the Small World album and I'm glad to hear Huey Lewis talk about it here, even though it was not a big seller. The jazz influence, the variety of styles that it explores, and the risks that the band takes give it a unique place in the discography. I wrote Lewis a letter once to express my gratitude for this album and he was kind enough to write back.

I've been a fan of HLN since their first album. I first saw them in concert in 1987 in Tucson, Arizona while they were supporting "Fore!"--I paid a whopping $15 for the ticket--and the next time I saw HLN was at Harrah's Cherokee in Cherokee, North Carolina, in 2017. To be honest, they hadn't changed to my ears. Huey's voice still sounded like it did in '87 and I still enjoyed the concert very, very much. It's terrible what's happened to his hearing and I hope that he can overcome his disorder. "Weather" is a great album if you haven't heard it. Much love to HLN for being a huge part of my growing up in the 80s and being part of my music collection today ... and all the great memories.

Thank you for this tremendous interview. I met Huey for the first time as a PA on the Larry Sanders show in 17 years ago, I was a 30 year old Kid, yes 30 old kid, a little slow so to speak on some scales. He was my hero, I saw him several time in concert. He signed my CD of sports, at the time I was tongue tied, when I first met him. I saw a quite stars in my production days, the two others close to him on my wow scale was Elvis Costello and Sugar Ray Leonard. I spoke to Huey briefly, I wanted him to sign my CD of sports. I tried to spit out that I had purchased his two hit albums twice, once as albums and again as CDs, but it didn't come out that way. It came across that I bought 2 cds, and he had several albums beyond that at the time. He was a bit put out. But he was still very gracious, signed my CDs. Generally a nice guy and believe it or not a good actor. As guy who's spent many hours with the famous, he was a pretty good guy. Hope he gets is hear back.

I really hope for the best with Huey's hearing so that we can have another chance to see them live but I will always have my memories of the amazing shows I have seen. If they ever get back on stage do not pass up a chance to see them you will regret it if you do.

Always loved HL&TN! Heard one of his songs in a department store the other day. Hadn’t heard it in years! Made me so happy. I went back out to my car and played it on my phone (I have the albums on Apple Music). My 13 yr old son says, “Who’s this?! This is some pretty good music!” And he and I bopped our way down the road singing together. Such fun music!

The Four Chords album was the essence of who they were and why I loved them. They retained the fun and feel of doo-wop updated to the 80s'. They were the lone beacon of the original rockers through New Wave explosion.
