    Seeing an interview after listening to all his albums recently, I find it super interesting how raw and emotional he is when speaking. His music is definitely that but it has a kind of anger to it. Watching this, I see that anger as a deeply creative and heartfelt individual. His genius is nothing I’ve ever seen in music. Definitely one of the goats, if not THE goat, of our generation.

      Jay Z is the articulation of his inner and his calculation and execution and hides his vulnerability in plain sight. Eminem - I would say more DMX - the anger the rage - the PAIN.
      Tupac was a prophet. Kendrick recognizes him as a prophet- Tupac has heart, brains, wisdom, foolishness, pain, vulnerability and devastating honesty not just for himself, for the CULTURE…Kendrick is that guy.

      +Wandile Duma simply put... I find that Kendrick is putting life & human emotion into one album... hence the one word track titles. "this how it is when you in the matrix.. dodging bullets.. reaping what you sow". he's referring to the system we are all trying to survive in.. which all of us will perish in regardless. sonically & conceptually he implies that the music is what will live on beyond an actual human life full of emotions. 💯

    Coming back around to this interview after the recent release of "Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers" and Kendrick is truly a musical genius. He has a very Kubrick-like approach to crafting music as he's specific, detailed, and obsessive with every minute aspect of each project.

    • @ControversyMusic
      @ControversyMusic ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It’s interesting because he says he wants to always be the best in this interview but I think now. He feels more comfortable letting someone else take the crown then always feeling like he has to be the people’s savior and champion

    I see a lot of Andre 3000 in Kendrick, surely he was a heavy influence on him. The song "LUST." sounds like Vibrate by 3000 on "The Love Below".

    • @milododd
      @milododd 7 ปีที่แล้ว +34

      Me too. I'm surprised and saddened the interviewer didn't bring it up. Too much focus on the Eminem angle. Obviously there's the Compton link, but I'd love to know where Andre sits in Kendrick's influences. I here so many similarities between the two. The sensitivity, sensuality and then the anger and the fear. Huge respect to both of these greats.

      Andre 3000 slurs his words and is at the top elite of lyricsts. Jimi Hendrix and Ray Charles did a gang of drugs. Im just saying sluring words or doing drugs does not make uh artists weak. True talent will shine like the golden sunrise regardless.

    I'm so happy I'm living and growing in a era where artists/rappers like Kendrick, J cole, Joey Bada$$, Chance, Gambino, Drake, A$ap, Ab-Soul, Lupe, & etc exists and are putting out albums that me & my generation will still be listening to 20-30 yrs from now like ppl from back in the 90s are still listening to Pac, Nas, Biggie, Jay-Z and other vets from that era. It goes to show that hip hop is still in good hands.
