Great race! This race makes sense if you were to look at the dyno graph. My z06 makes 730 rwtq at 3500-4000 but starts to fall off around 5500-6000. Makes 693 rwhp at about 6900. Gt500 has more rwhp. Torque pushes the z06 out at first but then higher hp pulls at the top. Z06 is a bit slower over 150mph too. Air flow is probably limiting the z06 up top too. Needs a ported blower and 103 throttle body and she'll open more at the top
@@ottito2 I think they held back the ZO6 knowing the ZR1 was coming which is why they put that tiny blower on it. Funny thing is the C7 Z06 was supposed to be a naturally-aspirated car like the C6 and the C8 will be. But they couldn't meet emission standards. So we'll never know what sort of engine they had planned. Probably would have been a beast in the next evolution of the LS7
Not only that but my car makes hp all the way through to 8250 we don't to push but we think if make 8500 it would still make power so unlike most cars that drop I'm in the 4 digit club and it was still making power but I need to build my motor . But I'm getting twins and motec put on thinking about getting a built motor 🙃 the problem is heat I can only run 3x before bad heat soak. Wich is why I'm going twins and tired of changing pulleys cause yeah I'm in the 4 digit club but only during races other then that I'm like 850 .
You really see the difference here between the GM 8L90's shorter gears and the Tremec 9070's taller gears. It takes longer for the Shelby to wind out 3rd, but it's over once it does. Amazing races!
AG, if that Z doesn't have a ported blower, he's probably making highs 6 or low 7 for WHP at best.. The 1.7 restricts the car no matter what you throw at it, it needs a port or a swap out for a bigger displacement blower, cam, or both. As always, great content man!
Very impressive race, both cars are extremely powerful. Never been a fan of top end cars, takes a minute to get into the power, but nonetheless beautiful race. I don’t know if I missed it, but would love to see a C6 Z06 race. Baddest car on the planet!

500 really surprises me at its top end pull. The vette surely has better aero. Vette sounds pretty damn good too. Amazing how much better they sound than the camaros with same engine.
This really showcases how the 1.74L blower on the Corvette hits really, really hard. But it doesn’t have the top end steam to keep a 2650 at bay for very long. He’s going to need a cam and head work to keep them away longer if he sticks with the stock blower; and of course porting the blower, too.
DCT > Automatic, i don't know why the trans start slipping in 4th and 5th gear in this C7 platform, ZR1 doesn't have this problem but the Z06 and Stingray have.
That 8 spd auto on the Z06 hits a wall in 5th gear. I had the same problem with my supercharged C7 A8. 5th gear is like climbing a mountain. The gear is too tall.

My 2019 z06 1lz weights 3443 with 1/4 tank. No weight reduction besides 45 lbs less in wheel and tire. Stock wheels are heavy af and running forged 19x12.5 rears and same but 18x11 front so 3500 is pretty close. Doubt it's making 700 to 750 though.
It was definitely making 700 for sure. He later added a cam and retubed for it and made around Upper 700s whp on a lower that normal reading dyno. Only thing he was missing was heads and a port job. I know these setups maxed out have hit 850
I have a c7 zo6 stock auto and that 5th gear does kill it and even modified it kills it. But the first few gears especially 4th is very short. All gears should be that way! The gt500 actually has very long gears down low and up top as well.
Exactly, now I kno his mods , if the owner is here , I make my peak at 8k+ I make more but if u haven't raise your limiter if not already we make power all the way through. I have a few more mods then u ported blower and tb and headers. Get headers man you will thank me . Those three will get u in the 4 digits 😉

Gt500 is the way to go. Little weight reduction helps on the takeoff. They are auto cross or dragstrip. That’s inase how fast these things are.
