Hey guys z06 is mine, this was the cars first night out racing, we have a few trans things we’re going to attempt, car is on low boost, no ice, and getting some data. Always a blast messing around w Joe, GT500 moves. If you slow video down I didn’t jump my buddy joey slept lol, from my POV which we have the video you can see I go once he says 3. Was just on the money. Can’t wait to dial in the car and see what she can do. For horsepower numbers car made 800, haven’t data logged the trans info yet but we’re thinking a good reset and updated shift pressure and see where it goes if not we’ll build the trans and keep it moving
I have the same z06 A8. we don’t have issue in the tranny the thing is ppl don’t realize when your in track mode sometimes u mite not shift on time and u hit the blue light and it denies the shift it basically does that so u don’t over shift but I find that when I’m in sport mode it wont Deny the shift but I wounder if in track mode it’s faster im sure it is
My 17 with heads /cam maggy2300 was also slipping on the 4-5 shift real bad. Took it to RPM in delaware and they tried to tune it out but couldnt and are putting in new trans this week. They told me Im better off with a new GM trans rather than a built one and that should be fine for my power which is around yours. They said, with the right tune, it will last. hope they are right!!
It did have a slight jump in the second race, obviously not much, third race it flat out was faster out at the start, thin weighs way less so honestly it's gonna be faster to start, the Gt500 keeping up is due to it having a better top end speed and pull. Vette is overall faster =, especially if it had more hp, which might be why the trans took a shit on itself too, GT500 had more hp but needs to lose some weight and it will beat most cars on the street with a good tune.
you could hear the transmission slip in the first race from the vetts prospective and again obviously in the 3rd race... dam that vette is pure evil! like to see it when it's fixed up against that black 911 turbo s

why do people mod a car, and forget things like the trans. rear and so forth. both cars are incredibly hot looking. just waiting to see that gorgeous Z06 once the trans. is fixed. i can watch this channel all day and never get bored.
Seriously , the new GT500 is a menace. He only has minor bolt ons compared to the Vette and he has the weight disadvantage. It’s impressive for sure. The Vette has better tires, weighs less, more money under the hood, etc. so I knew from the get go he was gonna win. Still though, respect to both of these monsters lol. Way faster than anything I or Most of us drive 😂
It’d still be close- meaning the lightly modded gt500 wouldn’t be sitting still. It would be a slow pull ahead. I thought Vettes being so much lighter would automatically destroy Camaros and Mustangs but shockingly that’s not been the case. Sold mine- mechanical nightmare
All those power mods and people STILL forget 8L90 stock cant handle that type of power and wonder why their trans takes a shit (assuming this trans is stock then thats a WHOLE different story). Those 4-5-6-7-8-R and the 3-4-5-R clutches are HATING LIFE. really good race though in all seriousness but that transmission is screaming for help
@@readyon3506 Can definitely handle 1000+ whp on factory stock LT4 and 8L90 trans, and that's running drag radials too. Just need fuel system upgrades and blower upgrades and a correct tune. Too many guys screw with the torque model in the wrong way on the LT4 and it causes the transmission to apply less torque than needed to the clutches which eats em up fast.
The trans is strong it’s all in how the power is applied and the trans tune. Very few shops know how to tune the trans for big power . Jtm in New York is one of the few that do it right. 900+ whp from a centrifugal is no problem for the stock transmission. 900+ from a tq monster roots or twin screw and yes . I see plenty of 1100whp C7 at 1/2 and 1 mile races with no transmission slip issues.
This is making prob 850wtq even with tunning the trans it’s going to take a crap and start to slip especially if you beat on the car which I’m assuming he did…. Sounds like the torque converter can’t handle the power.
@@yeezydidit that’s the only thing that needs to be changed is a circle d converter and a good tune . Trust I know first hand and have seen it many times live in action with people who make more power than me.
Just goes to show how much more the gt500 can take vs the vette. The gt500 has some of the strongest internals in any car out now. Imo it will be like the old supra in a few years

So much tq on a stock lock up clutch system results in quite a bit less torque on the wheels. Just use triple disc for the lock up and upgraded torque converter turbines.
That m5 has been really busy for a few months now with training on his new job. Hopefully real soon he will come back ( and that is if the gt500 doesn't do anything else to the car by then 😅)
Lmao!!! The first race the gt500 jumped. The second one was an even start very clear and clean and the last one was clean also. I like both cars but the corvette specially the c7 model were made just right.

That’s the way the vettes tranny work it sucks it slows it down.I had brand new 17 C7z and it always did that when shifting from 3rd to 4th. It’s a safety thing I guess cause it making max powers. Between shifts I had fbo max effort I never blew the trans it made 850. I always wanted to do turbo 400 for that reason
It was able to hand with an Aventador SVJ bone stock supposedly. I'd suspect that it'd beat the 992 but lose to the Demon if it's on E85. If they're both on pump or both on E85 I'd imagine the GT500 would take it.
That's why you're supposed to drive a manual, shift fast, and learn the no-lift-shift feature. With the right shoes, seating position, and technique, you can shift very fast.

It just needs a good trans tune. Check out mcrippenz z06 on TH-cam. It makes +1300 torque on a whipple and a 250 shot on stock engine and drivetrain.
