When R9 is mentioning how Messi dribbles and has the ball glued to his feet you know that any discussion is pointless, absolute Goat. I am Portuguese, never in my mind I saw Ronaldo as being better than Messi, but I have to say If you are good enough to give Messi a run for his money you are one of the best of all time :)

R9 is just humble and paying homage to him and Argentine
R9 dribble and skill level way higher than Messi
You all have never watched football
      Messi is 1v1
Funny how even Jose mo mentioned that
Cause when you put 2 players on him he loses can’t do much
Doesn’t matter if the ball glued to his foot or his arse

I watched all his solo goals
He dribble a team not a 2 man mark
Messi don’t have the skill to escape that and luckily for him he didn’t play Maldini or Cannvaro in Italian team

2022 ended the debate for most. To play the game in such insanely high, "only Messi" levels for so long is madness.

So me saying since 2010 is just being very very generous.
We are talking about The God of Football and possibly one of the greatest athlete in any terms. He's won it all by playing genius genuine honest football, without diving or acting or bullsheeeeeething. Just simple football but at a supernatural level of efficacy.

-Number of goals (but with alot more matches played)
      -Headings (goals + duels won)
Messi wins out in all other aspects.
      -More g/a per game/minute
-More goals if penalties are removed even with less games
      -More dribbles
      -More passes (completed + accuracy)
      -More assists
      -More trophies
      -More plays created
Messi has been named MotM (Man of the Match) in 52-53% of ALL his professional games. That's insane playing with a stacked Barca squad + an entire opposing team of professional, great players.
Ronaldo has been MotM in 30-31% of all his games which is also absolutely insane.
Everyone who has played with Messi say the same thing: "I've never seen anyone do what he does". Even in training he would take the ball, dribble the whole team and score...
Like Zidane said: "I was 1sec ahead of the rest, but you (Messi). You are 3sec ahead of everybody. The only one".
Appreciate both while they still play. Players like these two don't come around often, if ever.

it’s funny how the comments section just talks about talent. Yes. Without a doubt he is talented. However, you have to look at the amount of work and discipline necessary to reach and maintain such a level. Even more so if you look at his lack of base qualities like height and strength. No one talks about his unmovable discipline or his work ethic. The fact that fame and money never got to his head. We never saw him dead drunk in clubs, with hookers and all the rest of it. I think first and foremost we should be in awe of his discipline which is on par with Cristiano. Just saying talent, like something was given to him without merit is an insult.

They don’t understand we don’t see him working hard because he is introverted and don’t record every process to upload and share like other players do. I am glad to have spotted your comment, finally someone understands and sees Messi like I do. What people don’t know is, “Those who work hard, appears luckiest”. So, Messi’s composure comes not as a gift, he is the best and he appears to be the most talented only because he’s training the hardest, putting the most of efforts. I just can’t deny the fact that we will never see a footballer who can even do 50% of Messi ever again. Messiah of Football.

Everyone adores Messi because of his exceptional, unparalleled and unmatchable talent, however what's more important is everyone's love for Messi because he is a great human being. In spite of achieving every single humanly fathomable and achievable laurel, accolade and milestone in football and creating new milestones, he has mastered the art of staying humble and grounded. He hasn't allowed pride, ego, narcissism and vanity to take over humility and conscience. That's what makes him the greatest of all time.

the point is that the purpose of the trophy is somewhat unclear. it clearly cant be the trophy for the best individual player, because then no one could explain how messi only has eight as of now. the problem lies within the inconsistencies of the handout of the ballon d'or. sometimes you have to be a world champion to get it, sometimes you have to win the champions league and sometimes none of them is enough to get the trophy. modric might have had an exceptionel year in 2018, yes, but was he a better player than messi on an individual base that year? i very much doubt that.
even now with messi in the us the only question of substance is: does anybody on the planet play the game of football on an individual base better than leo?

He told me that I didn't know football and that the better player was Cristiano Ronaldo. But after 13 years of following the sport, I can safely say that Messi is the greatest of all time. Look, Cristiano has been a blessing to the game. A player like him comes once or twice in a generation. We need to celebrate him. He earned it. The issue is he flew too close to the sun. To ever think he was better or even as good as Messi was his biggest fault. He is one of the greatest of all time. He is up there and will be remembered. But Messi is in contention for #1 of all time and that's just another level. You can't work your way to the greatest of all time, you're just born with it. That's Pele, Maradona, and Messi. Honestly, that's a lot of the South American players. They have it in their genes at that point. Everyone else plays football; they live it. It's no wonder that the top 3 of all time come from South America.
