The piano with the harp look is actually a harpsichord they reconfigured and lifted it upward in the rear and it's now a space saver. Look up harpsichord piano and you'll see what I mean. Whoever created it was too smart for their own good lol Very creative!

I found a photo of one just like it. It says that it is a upright harpsicord which was RARE.

That is the family home of one of the greatest portuguese composers of the 20th century. Fyi, it is an estate home. A house that lodged the family that owned it for generations. The property itself has areas added and converted through the centuries. The part u went into with wooden vaulted ceilings was built in either the 16th or 17th century. Tiles as u saw were common in larger portuguese homes, owned by either moneyed farming families or actual noble houses. This is a home that belonged to a moneyed farming family who in the early 20th century became middle upper class. Portuguese homes don't have pizza ovens; the ovens were to bake the bread for the consumption of the house. As for the private chappel it is a late 19th century when the family became gentrified. That house is for sale by an auction house. Lastly, u should not be so surprised when finding barrels or vats and pressing basins on large basements. Any country estate always had its vineyards and produced its own wine. Portugal has just under 400 municipalities; each one has its own types of wines and many of them have demarcated regions with their own wine varietals. Those houses were self sufficient in terms of produce, fruits and wine, always making their own bread. They were for all intents and purposes agricultural production units.Grapes do not grow on olive trees!

wow, that is a very accurate history of the house, something which urbex explorers don't bother to research. These kinds of properties were owned by the rich of that era. Is the composers name Luís de Freitas Branco?

Hello Sam and Jess. This was once a beautiful place it would be great to find some photos of how it looked in it's day. Sam your introductions are interesting and gives you the feeling that you are standing next to you feeling the breeze in your hair and the smell of nature surrounding you. The photo on the wall with the children in the garden I think you will find that the lady was actually a nun, that is the habit of some of the old religious orders of the time. The wooden ceilings that you liked were found in homes around Australia in the 1800 to around the 1900. I find that amazing that they were found given the time and the distance between the two countries. Thanks again for another great video stay safe Aussie Annie

Love Portuguese tile and the lovely shades of blue. That first upstairs area was probably sleeping quarters for domestic help.
That area on the outbuilding was probably servant living space. And there was probably more such quarters in the buildings you weren't able to get to. A place that large would need lots of help to run.
It is a shame it is left to decay. And some of the furniture would be valuable, especially that harpsichord piano thing.

This house is phenomenal! You guys I can’t believe the harpsichord. It must’ve been so outrageously elegant in its own time. How sad it’s left to neglect now. If only the walls could talk. Kind of nice to have Jess behind the camera to get her take on everything. Just as a switch the music but just killed me to see sitting there rotting. Can you imagine the music and laughter that was made in that house?

    • @lotusdolphin
      @lotusdolphin 2 ปีที่แล้ว

The candelabras on the wall. The old Victorian couch. The ceilings with the hand carved wood oh my gosh. The chapel was gorgeous! The ceilings holy moly. Did you say the chapel was older than the rest of the house? That’s interesting. They certainly had the market cornered on tiles! That upstairs at the very top was absolutely rich! they’re reading area. Jess your pants are cute. Might’ve been the workers that took care of the whole estate that lived out there. Sam you’re right it was Oliver tree. Thank you so much! That house was incredible! It had so much to tell!! Love the music too. guys. Love to you both, from me 💜😎🤗😘🎄🇺🇸

@@Samandjessexplore I did enjoy it immensely. Watching you guys get excited is so cool. Makes me excited. Being a musician, I enjoyed seeing the harpsichord/piano very ingenious what they get there. The whole house was just amazing. I hope for your sake that you guys are able to go where you want to go. Safely. You eat pretty healthy and stay pretty healthy so you should be OK. Doesn’t mean I don’t have to worry any less, but what are surrogate mothers for right? Lol Sam did you tell Jess that I liked her pants? They looked absolutely darling on her. I wrap my arms around you two and give you a kiss on each cheek! Love love love to you both. Liz🤗🤟🏻😘

Thank you. That was good. I loved the piano with the cabinet on top. I have never seen one like that. Liked those bathtubs with the tile on them too. The 2nd sewing machine that you put the lid on probably had the sewing machine attached to the lid. You pick up the top and the sewing machine comes out and the top is the work table.

WoW,My phone locked me out on this one. Add A Little !The clay roof tiles were probably hand formed on peoples thighs and baked in kiln .And to the right side of the massive kitchen fireplace was a bread oven. That they would rake the hot coals out and seal the oven .After placing the bread in and seal it with that tombstone shaped stone. And the boat engine is a high performance Mercury engine made in the US I think like the 70's.And most likely black olives and I love Olives. I'm curious if the place is for sale and approximately how much. I probably couldn't afford the taxes anyhow. Defiantly tops the charts as probably my most favorite all time Left to go Proper Farm Mansion with the most potential! Thanks Again! Oh Yeah the tall copper kettles were probably used for brewing ale.Another favorite of mine. Just Um Wow! Thanks!

1:30 No game of billiards today, then!
12:22 I do like those tiles!
13:22 An old ‘Popular Mechanics’ magazine, presumably in Portuguese, from 1961. That is a surprise!
13:38 ‘Achei O Meu Coracao’ (‘I found my heart’) might be a piece of music.
14:20 Maybe these are my new favourite tiles!
22:23 ‘Maybe there is a basement’ Indeed, and if that floor gets any more rotten, there’ll be a shortcut to it!
Yeah, a good explore in a place with a range of decay from ‘total’ to ‘hardly any’. Very interesting!

Definitely an olive tree. Grapes grow on vines. The olives have to go thru a curing process to remove certain compounds b4 they are safe to eat. Loved the explore! Thanks!

I would love to have a house tiled Portuguese style, they're so beautiful!💕 I agree, Sam, that furniture is more interesting than the English designs.
Thanks for another wonderous and elegantly presented explore 🤘💜🤘
