It is really a damn shame that saxophones are the “black sheep” of the woodwinds, especially in “”professional”” orchestral settings. They are so overlooked and maligned yet have amazing capacity for virtuosity and emotion alike, like you have displayed. Bravo!
It's people like this that we need more of to change that perception. It took decades even centuries for instruments to earn their place. The saxophone has done well.
What an amazing performance! The beauty of your tone is just amazing. The altissimo parts are played with such sweetness and clarity yet the low A notes strikes with huge power and depth. Your technique is brilliant and all that with great artistry and creativity. A true virtuoso.

I think baritone sax is the "Magnum Opus" of saxophones and possibly even woodwinds altogether. It's big enough to hit impactful lows and keep rhythm but just small enough to have altissimo with extreme clarity (given someone can control it). A truly versatile and beautiful instrument. Fantastic performance, sir!
Damn son! After 30 years of not playing, I just purchased a new Bari and have started practicing again. Inspiring to find and listen to your playing. Keep up the fantastic work of being at the top of your craft and inspiring others to do the same!
Do you work the reeds? What kind of facing is that S90? 3 sounds soft if you're going to do any work to it. Really dug the slap tongue. Mostly clean run. Good job!
@@justapersonscrollingby753 then again, everyone is so worried about getting to (let's face it - blue box) 3.5s that we can be closed minded about simple preferences. At least in the classical world. Interested if jazz players bother to be uppity about reed strength
The main reason for lack of saxophone in the classical genre, is the pitch of the available saxophones; there are no quality saxophones in the Concert key of C, only in Bb and Eb. Bb and Eb saxes are more suited for marching bands, not classical orchestra. Thus the saxophone family is missing a melodic centre, which is important in composing for a family of instruments.

This guy is like a god in my eyes… I’ve been playing baritone for almost 10 years practicing like a maniac and I haven’t been able to have a single speck of the control this man has over his register… he’s just amazing in my humble opinion
Oh my goodness!!! I have been recently taking bari sax up again after many years playing tenor and I am blown away at the control you have over your tone, technique and especially the dynamics. Simply amazing!!!! Thanks for posting....it is so inspiring to hear and see this!
Amazing playing!!!! I come to this video multiple times a day, shows how much I need to do as a player myself. The best saxophone I've played was a serie III but I have never played a II. In your opinion, which is better as I want to get my own professional tenor.
Actually at first i couldn't believe that he could play it. Because people even can't play it on violin. But then i thought how can make a playback without a record someone playing it. Haha. A true hard work and talent. Perfect. Thank you for letting us listening this beautiful piece on sax♡
absolutly beautiful, as a sax player this is just insane the control just astounds me. pls keep this up. (i have never heard overtones used like that before)
Hey, there is a "Nicolò Paganini: 24 Capricci for Saxophone Solo" (alto and soprano, alternating) out there, arranged by Raaf Hekkema. He noted and Caprice No. 24 in Eb almost exactly as to be played similar to this performance, including tremolo, sung notes and slap tongue articulation etc. Good luck finding it, I guess it can be purchased though. the baritone sax is so cello like in classical music.
The level of control in the high register is absolutely fantastic! It would make Sigurd Rascher proud! 🎷

It literally sounds like you’re seamlessly switching between an alto, tenor, and bari. So incredible
One of the cleanest tones in a bari Sax I’ve ever heard. What’s your setup?
Thank you so much ! Saxophone Selmer série II, Selmer s90 200 mouthpiece, ligature JLV, Vandoren 3 reeds 😊
Do you work the reeds? What kind of facing is that S90? 3 sounds soft if you're going to do any work to it.

First thing I noticed was the super clean upper register at the beginning.

Literally such a smooth tone I nearly mistake it for a horn at some points, so cool to hear!
I love how you found a saxophone way to interpret double stops and pizzicato. Fantastic!

Yeah best instrument !!!
This was bari good. 🎉
That slap tounging though. Respect, man.

A 1920s pop novelty technique so grotesque it totally vanished...and then could be revived by some of the most serious players on the instrument.
Great job playing 2 octaves at the same time. I don't think I ever could do that on my alto! :)
