I can't even begin to overstate how damn impressive this is. Seriously this is a work of art and you deserve so much more recognition for this. Good work Kris!!
Believe it or not. I used to play the contrabass clarinet. which is roughly similar in size. surprisingly it's not terrible in terms of the air needed.
It is amazing being able to listen to this beautiful performance! As a violinist who has performed this caprice many times, I'm extremely impressed by your phrasing and your technical skills. Keep up the amazing work!!❤
You are so talented! As a flautist, I struggle to make sure I get good breath support to make notes sound good which requires quite a bit of air... But seeing as you can make notes sound so good with an instrument that big is so impressive!👏👏👏
Oh yeah this is perfect for distracting myself at 1:31AM when I shouldve been sleeping at 12:15AM Your timbre is beautiful my guy!! Thx for sharing this!!!
Love this! ❤ The bassoon, and saxaphone (I use to play it, myself) have such gorgeous guttural, bellowing sound that I also love hearing in the double bass and bass viola da gamba, tuba and lute-harpsichord.
@@bassoonkris I love how the Kronwalt low A contra is so compact. I had an old Mollenhauer low A contra on trial about fifteen years ago and the first thing the trombone section said to me was "you didn't BUY that, did you?!" and the case wouldn't fit in the back of my car. As a contra player (I play a Fox) I am amazed by all of the extra keys and I know that I could figure them out eventually but you navigate them with such ease and assurance!
What the heck did I just listen to? That contrabassoon is a lethal weapon in your hands, sir! As a composer, you basically are taught that the contra is completely incapable of this sort of thing... but here's the counterargument to that! Awesome job!
I love your take on this, but I am curious: Have you ever listened to a violinist play this? Your interpretation of timing and phrasing is just so different from anything else I’ve heard! As a flutist and violinist I’ve heard many many interpretations so I’m curious! No hate intended I’m just wondering where you drew your inspiration. :)
we got pag caprice 24 on contrabassoon before GTA6
😆
You have a very dangerous video. it may encourage young composers to entrust such passages to the contrabassoon in their works :D
I laughed so hard at the low notes, not because they’re bad but because it sounds so cartoonishly low😭- a cellist
Wow didn’t wake expecting to listen to Pag24 on contrabassoon but what a treat!❤❤
Same here
Interesting: I’ve never seen this particular type of contra before. Rich tone, and well-played!
I can't even begin to overstate how damn impressive this is. Seriously this is a work of art and you deserve so much more recognition for this. Good work Kris!!
Wow! The tone is absolutely gorgeous!
I can't even begin to imagine how difficult this must be on contra omg
I thought it was the end of the world in the last trill 😂
Congrats for your great playing!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
3:06 this part is just awesome
no. 1:07
that awesome!
pov lactose intolerant ppl

@@Yipee566you know, there is a difference between lactose and lactic acid, don't you?
"hey hooman... cuddles please- oh dang, you're recording? Aight my bad my bad..."
Adorable cat! And you make this look easy.
Ahhh...the page turn...excuse to catch my breath...😊....I can't even begin to imagine filling that with air like that....

Contra uses less air than you think! Double reeds are unique like that
@@amj.composer Really? That's quite interesting, I thought that since it was so big it would use a ton of air.
Beautiful work!! Some of the best and effortless-sounding upper register playing I’ve heard on contra!
Thanks Ryan
Wowzers. I don't know how you manage all those thumb keys. I play flute and have 2! Lovely playing.
Love the arrangement. Love the performance. Impressive thumb work. Love the space. Nice room!
Dude somehow this guy manages to make it sound like a double bass on the low notes! That takes some serious dedication and work, nicely done!
Oh yeah this is perfect for distracting myself at 1:31AM when I shouldve been sleeping at 12:15AM

Why is this literally also me rn?

Simply amazing! What a cute cat :)
Interesting timbre, took me a while to like it, but you sold me on the cool virtuosic etudes in this caprice. Great playing.
Love how strange it looks the instrument, like something you'd see in a steampunk world!
This is last video I expected to get in my feed, but damn, was it good lol. Great playing on the contra!
I'm lucky enough to come across such a great performance 😊
What a beautiful texture! As a Bassoon player I've always wanted to try playing the Contrabassoon, but our district doesn't have one in our schools :(
One can tell you a great player, the cat hung around.
Wow Amazing!!!!
Awesome stuff!
Wonderful!
I can't believe what I just heard!!! Absolutely amazing!!!
Bravo bravissimo
A fabulous surprise🎶👏🎵👏
Is it a low A extended contrabassoon?
Yes this contra has a low A
WoW the A at the end❤😮

Thank you for recording and sharing this!
Thank you for reminding the people that this instrument doesn’t sound like a fart
And cute cat to boot 😊😊😊😊

Next video: Dualing Banjos with a contrabassoon-playing friend!
Marvelous!!!
God, I’d forgotten how many thumb keys bassoon has…
truly amazing, expert handling of a very unique intrument ! mind telling us a little about it?
beautiful!
これはコントラフォルテですね。素晴らしい演奏です。
Es increíble que en ciertos pasajes el sonido suene idéntico al de un violoncello
Amazing atonishing 😂❤😅😊
Wow 👏🏻
Have we just found the ling ling of contrabassoon?
Amazing!
Die Katze ist so nett ❤️💚🧡
This is so impressive cuz I didn’t think you could play that fast on contra
😍
thats crazy
What type of contrabassoon is that?
Kronwalt
Sounds so goofy ahah
the focus of the camera...
Tuning: 0c: A4 = 440Hz
How much does a Contrabassoon cost? And for one that plays in tune? :-))
Very nice, now play it on a subcontrabassoon
That’s Richard’s territory
Is contrabassoon one word or two

The contrabassoon is a cover, he was actually farting! 😂
