Brother Kenny, thanks for the props on my fusion jazz picks! I have 3 copies of Claus Ogerman's 'Gate of Dreams' and i have 3 CD copies as well! Love all your videos my friend! Thanks again!
Thank you very much for the inspiration for the video topic 😊 ✌️
Absolutely agree! "Return to Forever" (1972) and "Light as a Feather" (1973) are the best. ✌
Two spectacular albums for sure 👌
I love the Al Hirt Meets the Green Hornet in the background😊
I listened to side one last night, it's great and the playing is fantastic 👌 👏 🎶
Kenny, great video! You're taking me back to when all my friends thought I was weird for listening to this classic music. RTF Romantic Warrior is still one of my audio system test tunes. I was fortunate enough to see them in 1976/77 and I believe Joe Farrell was on Sax & Flute. Miles Davis' "Sketches of Spain" was the first jazz LP I ever purchased, so it was easy to transition to "Light as a Feather". You are so right about "Spain". The question becomes, how many versions/covers do you own? OMG, Claus...how many times have I seen his name in liner notes? Reminds me of the Mizill Brothers and their under-recognized status in musical history. Thanks for your contribution...
Thats a great question about "Spain". ..not sure how many covers that I have. .Great to hear from you and thank you very much for watching my video ✌️
I've listened to the great Light as a Feather album probably 2000 times over the decades. Take care. (In the 2nd half of the 1970's I had my own show on a commercial FM-Stereo radio station in Fargo-Moorhead and played music from fusion to Jackson Browne, usually seven nights a week from 9-1. Arista and Polydor-ECM sent most all of their promo copies.)
Thank you very much for sharing that, I really appreciate. Thank you for watching my video ✌️
For me the first RTF album on ECM is Chick's best! One of my desert island albums... The Ogerman record is also one of my alltime-faves! I'll give it 10 stars. I also have a recommendation for You Kenny: Kevin Eubanks' "Opening Night". I bought it, when it came out. Can't get enough of it... ;-) cheers, Andy
Thank you very much for your recommendation, much appreciated 😊 ✌️
Great video Kenny! I love the return to forever and Chick Corea work. I have been listening to them since the 70's and they are all great albums. Thank again.
Thanks as always for watching my videos 😊✌️
I still own both of these album and "Light Of A Feather" is the only one of the two I still play. Airto and his wife Flora's contributions on the album makes it a classic IMO.
I love Flora Purims voice on the album 👏 👏 🎶
Let's not forget about the great Pat Metheny, especially Off Ramp and As Witchata Falls, So Falls Witchata.
Pat Methenys work is great 👍 👌
This is Larry, I have 5 copies of OFfRamp and 4 copies of As Falls Wichita..., Pat Metheny is my favorite, have close to 100 pieces, mostly three or four copies of 90% of his work! Let's not forget about Lyle Mays' solo work also! Thanks for your comment!
Hi Kenny, have a great week (zenon, from Brazil)
Thanks, you too!...enjoy your week 😊
Romantic Warrior is a great album.
Praises upon both you and Larry. I've been an Ogerman(n) fan since my teens listening to my father's Benson albums. A hugely underrated musician, composer, conducter and arranger.
Kenny...keep on doing what you're doing.
👏🏾🙏🏾👏🏾
Thank you very much 😊✌️
I have not had the chance to keep up with your videos in a few weeks but as far as fusion goes, I’ve been digging into my old Alphonse Mouzon albums and reminded myself what a versatile guy he was. I first became familiar with Mouzon in 1979 with the disco album “ poussez”, it was many years later that I discovered his roots in jazz and fusion as well as jazz funk.
He has great, I'm sure he is a guest musician on several albums that I have.
I know this video was more about fusion, While I definitely appreciate these heavy fusion masterpieces in my older years (Cobham, Return to Forever, some of the incredibly technical works of Al Di Meola), I’m a huge Jazz funk fan. Mouzon worked very closely with Herbie As well as Miles. IMHO I consider albums such as Benson’s in flight and Breezin’ as perfect albums for example, Mouzon’s “by all means” album is in the same category for me, incredible musicians and catchy tunes that will stick in your head for days.
Back in 2000, on our local community college, the songs off the light as a feather album were always part of the rotation, so I remember them well. I'll give you a couple of recommendations with similarities. One recent as two years ago & the other from the time period of (Light as a Feather). Hiromasa Suzuki Trio album (Primrose) Nala Sinephro album (Space 1.8) I'm sure you will be ordering. Enjoy👍 Hahaha
Thank you very much for watching my video and your recommendations 😀 ✌️

if Kenny vouches for Larry's opinion , that good enough for me. Although I don't know Kenny personally, I respect his opinions about records. For some strange reason I can't quite pin down, I would also respect Kenny's opinion on multipurpose household cleaning products.
I'm going to check out that light as a feather record, seems very promising, I am a sucker for female jazz singers and Purim is so very good. I might once again fall off the wagon of record buying self restraint, and I blame acoustic sounds as my enabler.
I just checked out "light as a feather" , and a new old stock costs over $200. I also forget that Purim sings in a style of flat notes, which grows tiresome quickly. oh well.......
😊😄😁....I always appreciate your comments...especially when it comes to household cleaning products 😆 lol.
The Hornet…excuse me😄
The '70s were a fantastic time to experience. Whatever happened to Jazz Fusion?
That's a great question....jazz fusion was great back then. Perhaps it changed into smooth jazz ?
Hey Kenny could you give me a underrated jazz album recommendation I’ve been searching for something new.
There are two in the following video
