Discord, skype, etc. You may not game and also work, but many people still will use their gaming laptops as a portable workstation, and will likelly use it for conferences and also for calling friends.
Remember, not just because you dont use it, doesnt mean that the rest of the world also dont. If that was true, planes would be useless

If you're still rocking a sub 1080p TN display yes it is kinda bad. But once you have that and an SSD most laptops are very acceptable.

I use mine for work which is my reason for having a laptop rather than a desktop so I can bring it to work. I dont like having to switch back and forth between devices. But to each their own. I'm perfectly happy with an detachable camera anyway it still serves the purpose needed.

I have recently purchased this and LTT is "Spot On"! This thing is a gamer's dream. Aside from the FPS being up there and the awesome display, the sound is fantastic! Much better than my older Acer Helios 300. Linus is right... the price is eye-watering LOL. I'm not loaded with money so this is a once in a lifetime purchase.
The only thing I had an issue with was trying to figure out how to set the RTX 2080 as the default graphics. G-SYNC was not available in the NVIDIA Control Panel. As a matter of fact, the only option in there was "3D Settings".
So here you go for anyone who needs it:
1) Install the latest version of "Armoury Crate" (should be 1.44 at this time).
2) Open Armoury Crate and maximize the window so you can see the whole thing.
3) Go to "Device Configuration" section and enable "GPU Mode".
4) Restart your GX701 and you're good to go. When you go to NVIDIA Control Panel, you will see the "Set Up G-SYNC" option.

Now seriously, I think Asus did a right thing when they didn't put a Webcam in their laptop.
I've used a laptop webcam, but that count fits on 1 hand. My cheapo logitech USB webcam that I got over half a decade ago for like $20(and came with a headset) is better than the ones on my tablets & gaming laptop. I genuinely have no idea why so many current gen webcams are so much more terrible than the front cameras on low-end smart phones

A webcam in general is rarely used by many people. However, Windows Hello integration with webcam sensors is a life saver. I have that feature on my laptop and I'm never looking back

He wasn't thinking of a notch, he wanted something where a camera would protrude from the top of the screen bezel and leave an indentation in the area that the camera would hit when the lid is closed
@@tyleralberico9340 Just as misguided as the notch. In both cases, the correct solution is a bezel and everyone complaining about thick bezels is an idiot.
Notches are great on smartphones if done properly (and mostly they are) because they take up the middle of notification area and nothing else. Most are also longer/wider than 16:9 (e.g. 18.5:9), which means that the notch doesn't block standard videos either. But, hey, it's okay to be bitter and salty about any change in the industry, let me also put my tinfoil hat on!

Most peoolw like thin bezzels on an already-bulky laptop (look at that space between the keyboard abd the screen). Laptop cameras are next-to-useless anyway. The solution here is just fine.

the biggest issue with notches on laptops is that windows isnt optimized for this so a notch will cover information like window titles or the window close button
You need to realize that what he was talking about is not a notch. He was talking about a slightly raised area above the camera to allow for a bigger, aka deeper, camera. A notch is a terrible idea, especially on a laptop.

Being able to decide the angle of the camera is a far better solution than the fixed-point webcam that are in laptops by default.Or by making a structural sacrifice for a device most users don't care about.

I never used the webcam on my gaming laptop since I bought it 4 years ago. Now due to COVID-19 outbreak I have to work from home and use the webcam to attend online meetings. My son needs the webcam to attend online classes too. Sometimes things can be less useful during normal times but when you need it unexpectedly it is there for you.
I love how in the beginning as you say it's the fastest single GPU laptop you are seen it is visibly stuttering at 10-15 frames per second.

Because it's a benchmark. If you have hardware power to spare in a benchmark you have the wrong benchmark running.
Ideally you want to go beyond what the hardware can deliver easily.
You're looking at stability, temps, voltages etc. which would be pointless if the hardware isn't at it's limit.
It's not just for the sweet (or not so sweet) score you get at the end.
So what he seems to be saying is, other laptops perform even worse.
In case it was a joke or reference I didn't catch, ignore all that.
@@aphermion yes, you are correct, was mostly commenting on the impracticality of RTX today, because if port Royal was using traditional rendering techniques it would run way better or could be a much larger area, both better for games than ray-tracing today.
But anyway, yes I know it is good to make an intensive benchmark.
@@aphermion Well you're kinda not getting the joke. RTX is becoming a bit of a meme of minimal visual improvements for a big performance hit. While it isn't that straight forward RTX has been a huge let down up to now (DLSS is even worse) and people start joking about it. Because if we can't laugh about it we might as well cry.

But yeah, at the moment ray tracing isn't quite there, yet. Although I want to see what the future holds. Just popping lights and reflective surfaces into a 3D scene without baking and creating cheaty ways to get a reflection, is quite the compelling thought.

But not really as I very recently bought the excat laptop Linus is reviewing here. With 24Gb RAM instead of the 16GB he has here and a 240Hz refresh panel instead of the 144Hz, the laptop hits a steady 55FPS on Ultra with full ray tracing in CONTROL and 72FPS in Metro Exodus, same settings. And this is with the FHD resolution, not the 1080P max he had in this video

good that they removed the camera... I personally have never felt the need for a camera in my laptop (I have one, but never use it)
I don't care if there is a webcam, never use webcams anyways.

I own the previous Zephyrus model. All of those changes, like the keyboard position are actually super comfortable. I still have a webcam on mine, but honestly it wouldn't have changed my mind if it weren't there. Fantastic machine, it's never let me down.
