    'Grind till we can't feel feelings.' That one hits home. Mom passed a couple years ago and it was rough the first while. I still think about her often enough, but it doesn't hurt as much these days. Sorry to hear about your father passing. Scout is looking good.

      Thank you and sorry about your Mom. The shop is a good place to clear things up.

    Levi is an old school dude. I wish i had 1/10 the ingenuity that he does. My scout 80 project kind of revolves around his post.

      Thank you. Digging the 4BT swap you got going. I have done a couple of 4bts in Scout IIs over the years. I actually also own two 12 valve powered trucks.

    Love this video! I have been wondering how to tube out the front of my 80 rockcrawler. Just what I needed to see. Nice work on the coil over mounts! Thanks for the great content and keep it coming. Hopefully you and your family can find some peace and comfort during this time of heartache.

    Why not both? Hat and drum style brakes work fairly well. But for those hairy situations when you have to stop in an extreme angle or steep incline having the mechanical brake for regular stops and the use it and a line lock when you have to park and get out on the trail.

    When I tore down my 14 bolt for my YJ build I popped the diff cover off and saw that Gov locker and was like well fuck there goes another $500. I got the carrier from East Coast Gear along with a yukon locker.
    I do not have the cable e-brake hooked up yet but I do plan on running it but I also have hydraulic line lockers both front and rear for digs and backup e-brakes.

    • @OldIronOffroad
      @OldIronOffroad  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah. Only time in my life I wasn't happy to see some sort of traction device. Lol. I am going to do hand brakes in the cab for front and rear digs so T-ing in a line lock will be easy. I am gonna go ahead and give the mechanical brake a try for now. If they let me down I will gut them later.

      Levi, when I just put the new late model 14 bolt in the woodbinebeastssii I totally rebuilt the parking brakes and they work 100% better then the caddilac junk on the old 14 bolts. I have a rear line lock too. There are many lengths of GM cables to choose from, I used a 30" center or intermediate cable on the stock scout II parking brake front cable, then two of the shortest gm cables along the frame rails. Theonly thing that sucks is the cables come off the back side of the housing and 1 side hangs low.
      Rigs looking great, so sorry to hear about your dad, and y'all being sick. Prayers for ya!

      Ps, weld them axle tubes to the pumpkin!

    • @OldIronOffroad
      @OldIronOffroad  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @tomcompoli I am not sure if I am going to weld the tubes honestly. The bridge ties the housing and truss to the bridge. If I wasn't running a truss I would for sure.

    • @tomcompoli
      @tomcompoli 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@OldIronOffroad ya, I suppose looking at the pinion guard tied into the truss, it should prevent any tube rotation.

    Rad build, can you put a 80 drop down windshield on a 800?

    • @OldIronOffroad
      @OldIronOffroad  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There were a few 800s that came factory with a drop down windshield believe it or not. I am sure I could If I could find a decent one to throw at it.

  • @rjtell6869

    Could you also use it as a daily driver?

    • @OldIronOffroad
      @OldIronOffroad  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      So..... probably. The idea for this build is for it to be streetable. With intentions and hopes of going on ultimate adventure this rig has to be able to do trails and complete road miles.
