Man I love this build! "you get what you pay for" I'm sure you earned that opinion the same way I did, LOL
@wheelieking71 thanks!! Yeah definitely some dollars spent 2 or 3 times insteaded of buying once and crying once.
Awesome vid Levi !
@dylangatzka2699 thanks man!! You got that Scout finished yet???
Yes, but what if you're trying to enclose the crusty, old, stiff spaghetti mess of wiring under your Scout hood that's been baking in engine heat for two decades?
Just wait till it catches on fire then redo it.... 😝
Reservation placed
Paint it. Fix it back up. Headlights ect...
@@theboatman360 I don't think paint will ever be in the cards for this thing. Headlights and other pieces will make their way back on it eventually.
Good idea
What is the name of the "C" shaped metal piece that you're turning ?
@@garrettnolin9931 it is the inner knuckle or inner C
Siiiiick
I been welding for 20 yrs ish you did great on those welds and your right you do this wrong people get hurt
@jeremyhanna3852 thanks!! I appreciate that!!
Looking good
Really cool
Yes sir!! It is a cool machine!!!
Keep the cool stuff coming. That’s one unnecessary scout!! I dig it
Absolutely!!
In some translations of Prov 31 says, "a woman who will wrench with you in the garage who can find? She is worth far more than rubies."
And all God's people said "AMEN" !!!!!😂
We had a blast hanging out and cooking with y'all for this very special occasion. The SmökScout is a phenomenal addition to the Fatlighter focus, and we love sharing it with everyone. Y'all are the best 💙
Absolutely!! We really enjoyed it!! We need to get together more!
Thank you both for coming up to the mountains and doing all that work (and all that stuffing!!!!). So nice to meet you both 🤗 and awesome video!
We had a great time!! It was good meeting you guys!!
🤙 great job guys!
Thanks homie!!!
Great video!
Such a cool (Hot?) Scout. Great BBQ, too.
Oh man. The Turkey was killer!!!!
6:48 a drill or the right size mill bit works great! ... In and Milling Machine!! :) .. I hate t try it by hand. Carbon Ark Gouger also would work great, IF the operator has experience gouging, this job NOT the pace to practice IMO
I actually had a buddy tell me they make some gouging tips for the plasma. Ended up smoking through some consumables torching the plugs out.
That is very encouraging!! with your wife's progress!!! <3 My wife got diagnosed with cancer years ago, once they found out what kind it was (breast cancer) she lived for a week and 6 days. :(
@@MikeBaxterABC I am sorry to hear that. We have been very blessed.
That's also the way melling suggests you prime a system after a new pump install. I had a blockage just past that port in my recent build. Nothing would get pressure to pick up until I shot shop air through the system to clear it. Never seen that before in all the motors I swapped in. Just sharing Info in case you see it in the future. You can see what happened in the video on my channel if your curious
@@RecycledRacing thanks for the tip. Will have to check it out!!
How much to do the job
Call the shop for pricing.
@ called and left a message 👍
Let's see it

Ooooio
Another awesome job 😎🤘
Thanks man!! It is a fun truck to drive!!
I have an Auxbeam GB80 in my van and it makes wiring up multiple lights/accessories super clean and easy.
Definitely needs heat barrier on transmission tunnel. When I did the Powahstroke I put heatshield on firewall but didn't put anything on the trans tunnel and it got so hot you couldn't touch it and it was miserable. Pulled the trans tunnel and added dynamat and aluminum heat shield. So. Much. Cooler!
Definitely in the plans!!
Digging the side exit!
@@JoshHolcombe-j7y thank you!!
Come on with it!
O hell yes. Let's try it out. I will bring the pig
Looks like a super fun Scout, LS3 and a 6L80 would be a sweet setup. I'm curious on a Scout like this that's primarily a nice cruiser; how you like to setup the steering and suspension? What's it got for caster? Got a special box like PSC or anything? I see it's not reserve shackle, looks like it's dialed in to drive pretty nice though! Also curious what springs are in it and do you prefer poly or rubber spring bushings in an application like this? Thanks for sharing!
We did a full restoration on this one 4 years ago. Axles and suspension rebuilt. Front axle cut and turned. 5 degrees of caster. 2.5 inch lift springs. I prefer poly bushings but they are definitely a maintenance item.
@@OldIronOffroad Nice, it looks great! I've got one I need to do a cut and turn on. I've done a ton of poly bushings but they definitely are a maintenance item like you say. I've never tried new rubber in one and might do that this go around. Thanks for the info. You're work looks phenomenal.
Eating Frito pie in WV is fitting
Lol I painted my scout 2 this same "Dark Hunter Green" paint color, glad to see it finished on the same car as mine, because I still have a few more coats!
Awesome!
Ever tried a vacuum coolant bleeder? Brandon has one. Bleeds LS cooling systems quick.
I will have to scope it out!
Loved hearing Athena say 'slow down!'.....

Always awesome content for Scout folks! Thank you Levi!
@@alanjones8742 No problem!! Thanks for watching!!
Ya know.....watching this *almost* has me thinking about putting an LS in one of my rigs....hmmmmm Awesome work Levi! Hope you guys are doing well!
@ThatCountryBand nothing wrong with a good running SV but having some power on tap is always fun!!!
Love the green, can't wait to drive my 79 scout2, it has build sbc with t19 thinking about auto overdrive transmission swap.
@kennethnesmith4936 yeah it si a killer color. Hard not to like British racing green!!
Roughly how much for a restor like this?
@@kylewood2162 I think he was about 70 in this one.

As usual Good job
Thank you sir!!!
Please: constructive criticizm here, because I really like your channel. The rigs you work on and build are absolutely bad-ass! And your skillset and craftsmanship are excellent. Buuuut,,,,,,,,, I can't help but find great humor in the irony of you always stating you are trying to "grow the channel". But then, "off camera this happened". Not sure which you say more? And, I'm sure it already haunts you. But seriously, I'm sure most of us are here to see "look at me build". Not "look what I built". Sorry man. I know that camera has got to be a PITA. But, showing what you did will never get you as far as showing what you are doing. This video had lots of great content. But, there have been a few bummers along the way. Like I said, constructive criticizm. Now that that is out of the way, LOL. I just did the exact same thermal barrier treatment under my tow-pig ('06 5.9/6-sp). The barrier itself is most excellent! The tape? Garbage. I'm currently looking for something better to go back over all the seams as half the original stuff is gone already (about 6 months, maybe 800 miles?).
I appreciate that and I try to find a balance. My business comes first, and sometimes I have to sacrifice some footage for the sake of making progress in the evenings after paying work. I also try to leave out some of the boring bits. I imagine watching me spray lizard skin and bedliner would be like watching grass grow.
@@OldIronOffroad Glad you didn't find any offense in my post because there was none intended. Keep up the great work. A video suggestion if I may since we are here: A background video maybe? How to did you become this premier IH builder? Are you a fabricator by trade? (I would venture a guess that is a yes, LOL) I know I find those types of videos very interesting. And it seems they do really well for other channels.
@@wheelieking71 definitely could do an about me video. Thanks for the feedback!!
@@OldIronOffroad And yea, I definitely get "the business comes first". (at this point im commenting simply to BS and help the algorythym, LOL) I own/operate a CNC machine-shop. My life revolves around it. It has to. The only thing in line in front of it is family. Which also happens to be my greatest motivation. But, even that suffers at times because of it. I totally understand. I have people tell me all the time I should do youtube about my work. Three problems: * I freaking hate cameras *I am extremely awkward and have zero filter (in person (on camera)) *I am a one man band. No way I could be productive dragging cameras around! No freaking way. So, you definitely get my respect for your work ethic. Because I have a pretty good idea how much work goes in to putting the vids out. Before you even sit down to edit! I made my first comment before I even finished the vid. Now that I finished: I think the FF montage, then stop to explain, is a great compromise. I enjoyed this one! FWIW, this is probably my favorite current build of the channels I watch. Good stuff!
I’m with you. The look of the Traveler is awesome but it is an EV. I am not a big EV guy either. Now I am a little interested in the mileage extender. Would look forward to more info on that. How about a Hybrid. I am registered as well. I love the old and love the new. I am an IH er and plan to stay that way. Thanks for the opportunity to comment.
this is the sound, the bearings are new, the half-axle is straight, what makes this sound?
