Great video! Seeing link setups come together is always interesting, especially in a Scout! I'd like to try and build one someday. I see it was asked already, but I would love to see a little more in depth on some of the link characteristics and "rules" you like to try and keep in mind when designing/making a setup fit.
Nice job Eli. Once I get through the wife’s 72, I’m going to give this a go on my 79. Been wanting to tackle this since powernation built that mail jeep. Curious, you tend to use rules of thumb on lengths and placement. I was taking a long look at calculators that help with roll centers and bracket placement. To make sure the truck performs the way I want. Are you concerned with how weight will transfer in braking and under acceleration?
You know that is a good question. I have built several link setups and was always super critical of rules and calculators when designing, then I realized that real world building you have to stay within confines of what fits and clears so I would say the "rules" are more guidelines or suggestions to stay close to. I have actually already built a very similar link setup under an 800 and it performed well. I plugged all of my numbers on this one when I was finished into a calc. and the only thing I wasn't happy with was 6 degrees of oversteer from compressed to droop. I could fix it , but the trade off was going to be a pretty harsh pinion angle change throughout the suspension cycle so I left it alone. Hope that helps.
@@OldIronOffroad going to keep mine pretty mild. 35 inch tires, but not looking to go crawl over boulders. I’m building a rig to drive from the northeast to Alaska and be a bit more comfortable than on buggy springs. Keep up the good work.

Channeling that Tennessee Stacey David haircut! :)
🤣You know when I was editing I thought the same thing....
Great job, Love the content.
Awesome!
Man, I need half your skills, then I might get more stuff done.
I would be very interested in seeing a video using the Toyota bushings as a body link.
I will film it when I pull and reinstall the tub on this one.
What year toyotas use those body bushings?
Mid 80s

Will you be selling the frame stiffeners? Also, what is the width of your axles (wms to wms?) I think I missed that in the previous videos.
Hadn't thought about selling them. Front axle should be right around 69 inches
Subscribed, how long did you build your links?
Thanks!! Front lowers ended up at about 30 inches center to center of the joint.
