Bruce Canepa built an AWD 23 window Volkswagen bus utilizing the engine and drive train from a Carrera 4. He built it for the Sultan of Brunei's brother a few years back. I saw it a couple of times in his shop when it was being built. It shows up in some of the older pictures of Canepa's sixteen car "Hollywood Squares" style "Wall of Cars" vertical storage unit.
@@ZeroBalanceBuilds IMO that one is savable for original. There are many others I would do that to that are not. some with no frame and floor in them. Slide the body over a premade Tube frame. Then it makes sense to cut up a split window. But when they can be saved original the value is better if you dont cut it up. But it is your bus....
@Mikefngarage exactly. It's my bus and I could do what I choose. Plenty of people had the opportunity to step up and do something with it. Two points. One, who cares what anything is "worth"? It's just a big chunk of metal, I'm not trying to flip busses for money, I'm just trying to enjoy life. Someday when I'm worm food and if my kids decide to sell our busses, the value will be known then. Second, it would cost how much to restore to original and then it's just another fat hatch 11 window. I always use the saying: "That will be a nice $20k bus after you spend $30k restoring it.
It looks like it will be pretty cool
Peace
G'day the bus build is a wicked project mate. Can't wait to watch you build it 👍
Thanks so much. I appreciate it

There are a few out there. I think I'm the first doing this configuration under a split and making it actually usable on the road.
Looking forward to following along with your build; subbed. Great idea!
Welcome aboard!
Mind blowing
That could be good or bad
Great project, subscribe and watching with interest
Thanks alot for following along
How about a subbie legacy setup
Absolutely would be possible. I know of a ghia set up that way. I wanted something a little more robust and didn't want a non vw engine
Why??????????????
Would you prefer I left it rotting in the woods with a tree on the roof, because that was it's fate before I came along
Why the hell not?
4wd T3 "syncro" are very expensive and desirable, T2 was never available in 4wd except 1 prototype, this would be amazing for the VW community
